The Comics were not everyones exposure to MOTU, Filmation took MOTU to so many more kids and parents, that never heard of the toys until that 2 season TV commercial began airing. If anything Filmation streamlined MOTU, and made if much more appealing to more parents....back in the day parents cared more about what their kids watched, and the content of what they watched, unlike all the toon garbage that I will never let my kid watch today.

I get there were kids that felt the ever changing stories in the comics were the MOTU Bible, but people have to be realistic, if not for Filmation, there wouldn't be so many MOTUC fans today. I mean look how many Filmation character fans there are just on the ORG alone, let alone those who never come here to post. Filmation is bigger, and made MOTU bigger than many want to acknowledge. Don't like Filmation, fine....but there are those who don't like the comics. And no Filmation, there would not have been POP fans today either.
Then there were older kids like myself who had all of the 8 back figures BEFORE Filmation came along, so there was no other source material besides the mini-comics. In the mini-comics we had actual sword fights and hand to hand combat so I don't think it's hard to understand why kids like myself were dissapointed with how Filmation dumbed down the sword and sorcery action. Like MYP, any new cartoon or movie will have differences from Filmation so I'm sure the Filmation only fans will continually be disappointed because they're looking for the second coming of Filmation, and that just isn't going to happen.

As for the MYP exclusive characters like Dekker, I'm looking forward to them. I'm hoping to get Lord Dactys and Prahvus by the end of 2014.

Dekker is an amazing figure (what we have seen) and his character is so very deep and amazing. I can't wait to get him.

Dekker in these clothes looks a bit boring to me.
I might just use him as a weapon smith or random retired warrior.

    Very much so!

I'm excited for him and love the character. I'll be giving the extra green Clawful mace from the WP3 to him.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

I don't think that the non-Filmation fans have to realize that Filmation is what alot of fans associate with MOTU. It's the other way around. I think Filmation fans have to realize that Filmation isn't the be-all and end-all of MOTU. That might be the reason why some fans keep getting surprised by all of these characters from other MOTU media.

I may not have wanted Dekker this soon before Evil Seed, Prahvus, Miro or Hawke.
    But I did want him.

Didn't say I wasn't going to keep him in my vast MOTUC collection, just that he's a very "meh" 200x character to me as there's only a few 200x characters I'm reallllly interested in at this point. Like Evil Seed, Calix, and even the 3 colorful "ABC" Giants. Council of Evil what whattt!

Well, I said "No" because there are other 200X characters I rather get before Dekker such as Evilseed, Callix, and Prahvus. I have a sub and will be getting Dekker anyways but I do understand why people are calling him boring. I find Clamp Champ more exciting than Dekker.

I will get all MOTUC I can, but for me, I rather get certain characters first before others, especially since the line is struggling now. For example, Horde Prime and Snake Man-at-Arms should have come later in the line and we should have gotten Horde Troopers before the Fighting Foe Men.

I said yes. But I thought we would have seen the likes of Lord Dactys,Evil Seed,Veena,King Miro,Calix or even Lord Prahvus before him. But, still happy to get him in the Classics collection.

Dekker before Veena? Before Prahvus? Before even Dactys? or The Oracle?

    No.

He's fine... but he's not that exciting, and he's barely relevant. I'd have been WAY more excited with any of the aforementioned 200X characters, or EVEN BETTER, Castaspella/Hydron/Flogg/Angella/Glimmer/Sweet Bee/Crita/Icer/Batros, etc.
    A Want List of Sorts:
Rokkon, Stonedar, Nepthu, Plundor, Sea Hawk, Strong-Arm, Dactys, Horde Troopers, Storm, Geldor, Modulok, Battle Ram, Kowl, Loo-Kee, Hydron, Glimmer, Eldor, Two Bad, Ninjor, Rio Blast, Mermista, Entrapta, Sweet Bee, Peekablue, Flutterina, Gorpo, Flogg, Crimson Fury, Songster, Lodar, Kex Queen, Goat Man, Darius, Uncle Montork, Dree-Elle

Okay, I was just throwing it out there in case you change your mind. He's not going to be as hard to get rid of as the Star Sister have been for many.

Agreed, but I do like the fact that we finally have someone who's wearing civilian clothes in MOTUC. It would have been much nicer to get Lord Dactys, Prahvus, or Evil-Seed before Dekker but like you said in regards to Netossa, "It's cool to get a more obscure character like this because later on we might not have the chance."

You're the last person I would have expected this kind of post from. You usually praise never-before-made figures like these.
How is he less relevant than Prahvus, or Dactys? Or most of them. I don't even know who Crita is, lol.

Idk, man. I find the notient ridiclous too.

I speculate it has something to do with adult collectors looking down on the children's programming that were once the prime motivating selling point for the collectibles they buy today.

You should hear how some Joe collectors really try to make you believe how the GIJoe comic is what sold the line in the 80's. Because "the cartoon was silly".

It's almost as silly as believing no new character in an established franchise can be as cool/exciting just because he was created 20 years prior.

Agreed. Dekkar is a great character. I want him as a figure. But why are we getting him before a lot of other 200X characters? Prahvus, Dactys, and Evilseed are all 200X characters I'd much rather get first!

Probably the same reason PoP is getting Netossa before Glimmer, Mermista, Angella, or Castaspella. Until the doom and gloom started after SDCC 2012, it made sense to get the lesser known characters sprinkled in here and there to stretch the line out so that the final year wouldn't be full of Z-listers.

I've wanted a Dekker since I knew it was doable.

In my mind yes they do all wear Man At Arms armour, so the young Dekker Head will probably go with a Royal Guard body, when I get another (3rd) set, if I ever do.

Dekker did have 4x the screentime, a speaking role, and wasn't just limited to a flashback as Prahvus was. With as much balling there was over King Carnivous, why would anyone think Lord Dactys would fare any better with fans? And we've waited for Evilseed for this long, I can wait a few more months. And if we get a fully-inspired 200X Evilseed without even a Filmation headsculpt, and rather not get him at all. That 200X Yu-gi-oh design he had was terrible.

That's like 50% of the fun with these guys for me. Speculating the (easy) customs one could make long before these guys even arrive.

IMC, Dekker pioneered the modern MAA/Royal Guard loadout. Before him all the Royal Guard and Eternian Soldiers were wearing the egg-helmets and blue capes. So he put together the most tacticle gear set possible with the vast military and warfare knowledge he has from his mercenary days.

I'm wondering how the Dekker figure is fashioned under his tunic? If it's bare skin- great. But if it's a green "shirt" to match the pants, all I'd need is a shorts swap and chest armor to create the most bad***, sleeveless MAA ever. Then we'd def need a 200X King Miro and a Cap Randy.

You make a good point regarding Prahvus and Lord Dactys. I think a lot of the complaints over Carnivous was about his animated(Some said Disney) look. I can understand that, but I see the same issue with Fang Man. He's just too animated in appearance when standing next to many of the other figures. Now if he stands next to Clawful, Buzz-Off, and Spikor, that's another story.

As for Evilseed, I couldn't disagree more. Then again, I don't watch or have any knowledge of Yu-gi-oh. Evilseed's MYP design is much more friendly to the Classics buck than that of the Filmation version, which I thought was a horrible design. That said, I did like his death scene.

Why not Dekker? He's a regular charcater from MOTU 200X and the trainer of Duncan, that's cool. He come's with Duncan helmetless head (that's the purpose guys, who the heck could be ever interested in sculpting a young Dekker head???). Of course if you don't accept the MYP canon there is a little way you could like it.

Dekker is a welcome addition to my MOTUC collection. However, I think that the 2nd younger head was a waste of resources. That part of the tooling budget could have gone to someone else.
If you have a Queen Marlena cardback to sell, please let me know.

I voted no, because I have no idea who he is, and he does nothing for me in particular.
