I was never even a fan of the cartoon, but Instector Gadget's theme is VERY catchy.

And Thundercats.. even the sounds in the first few seconds grab ya.

Even though I love the score used throughout the Filmation MOTU cartoon more than any other 80's toy toon, I think Transformers & G.I. Joe have catchier theme songs(at least their Sunbow themes are).

All previous entries are awesome but pale in comparison to the grandaddy of catchy cartoon themes: the original Spider-Man theme (from the 60's).

The second for me would be the theme to Happy Tree Friends with its fast beat manic tempo is an introduction and hint to the madness within each episode.

Third would be the original opening theme to South Park by Les Claypool. I can't tell you how long me and my college buddies tried to decipher what Kenny was saying in the opening song. We had a lot of theories but no concrete evidence to back us up (it mainly had something to do with male genitalia).

Me too. The original version though, not the later "Be a Jem Girl" one.

The Real Ghostbusters theme is one the best too.

I never realized much the G.I. Joe opening made war look like fun.

As for catchiest openings, I have to say The Bravestarr one and also X-Men: Evolution.

I'd put the X-Men one here, but I don't know how to embed videos.

Awww...I love the MASK theme song! 80's goodness! The 80's had such wonderful openings for their cartoons that drew you in immediately.

I like Mighty Orbots, Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors, Thundarr the Barbarian, Bionic Six's openings too.

It's pretty easy. This is the first time I embedded a Youtube video as well. Just go to Youtube.com and find what you're looking for. On the right hand side of the page of the video there is an Embed line. Just copy and paste that embed code onto your He-Man.org reply post and voila! Internet magic!

Its funny how MOTU and POP haven't made it here yet?

This has to be my favorite. Hands down. That guitar solo rocks!

    Truly Outrageous!

And finally, its not 80s, it was not huge, but I liked this toon all the same.

Yeah, but I feel there's a difference. Some theme songs I hate(Golden Girls, Gilligan's Island) still get caught in my head because they're so damn catchy.

That has to be the most "1980's sounding" cartoon theme song ever(with Jem as a close second). I remember watching M.A.S.K., but I didn't remember the theme song until I heard it.

Does anyone remember that there used to be a Heathcliff TV show before that one where it was paired with a Marmaduke cartoon? I think it aired on ABC saturday mornings.

When I first saw this post my immediate thought was the underdog theme.
One Gum Drop to rule them all, One Gum Drop to find them,
One Gum Drop to bring them all and in the sweetness bind them
In the Land of Candy where the Gingerbreads lie.
-Tag line for the Candy Land Movie Adaptation

There are sentences I should just stay a way from. - The Doctor

Rob Liefeld isn't a comic artist, he's a women's clothing designer. Think about it

I hate how much that show is underappreciated. While the Real Ghostbusters may have had wittier scripts that often appealed to adults as well as kids, I love the fun designs that Filmation's Ghostbusters had.

I gotta go with Batman. Even though I liked Superman, Spidey, and the Hulk more when I was growing up, Batman had the easiest to remember lyrics for any song ever.

I remember my mom commenting once that Richard Pryor was the last person in the world who should have a children's show and I didn't know what she was talking about.

Even though this show was made in the 1980's, I always thought the theme song sounded like disco-lite.

Another, imho, disco sounding theme. I don't think I've heard that theme song since the 80's (even though I own the DVDs still unopened). I forgot that it's pretty catchy as well. I just hope I don't find myself humming "She-Ra" to myself when I'm out in public later today.

I remember watching Jem sometimes as a kid(only because it was after G.I. Joe & Transformers on WGN; that's my story and I sticking to it!), but I don't remember much about the show. 2 things came to mind when I watched that. One, the body movements when she was dancing were pretty realistic looking for a toy cartoon. Two, did she have a secret identity as well ala Hannah Montana?

Being a parent I have to vote for the theme to the "Wonderpets" as one that gets stuck in my head.
Please don't try to contact me thru heman.org about casted parts. That is specifically against there guidelines and out of respect for them don't do it. I rarely visit this site any more anyway so any messages more than likely wont be seen for a month. Facebook is the best way, i check there daily.

Okay here's a few more of my favorite themes:

I never saw the cartoon but I like the frenetic tone of the Super Chicken theme song.

The Jabberjaw cartoon wasn't that good but I love the theme. It was a Scooby-Doo clone with hints of Three Stooges and Rodney Dangerfield thrown in.

I watched and liked Wheelie and the Chopper Bunch not for Wheelie but for the Chopper Bunch (of course). "I told you! I told you!"

I also watched and liked the theme to the Hair Bear Bunch.

I loved Groovie Goolies because of the monster theme and the monster songs. The intro was pretty good too.

Lastly, a song that will probably get my villain status revoked but screw it! I liked the Josie and the Pussycats theme. I even liked the Josie and the Pussycats in Space theme (and even the Jem Theme but I prefer the Misfits. Their songs really were better!)

Not the official Space intro but the best I could find...
