    $40 haircut?

ok, so women pay a lot for a hairdo, but $40 bucks for guys haircut.. like a buzz cut, or just a trim?

a new barber shop open up near my pad, i was shocked when the clerk said 40 bucks. i told him.. wow.. then he goes.. you get a free drink too.. alcohol that is.

i told him i dont drink.. so the haircut is $30?! then he goes we can do $35. thats still too much imo.

so i went a few blocks away.. and my haircut was $8

how much do you spend on a simple haircut?

I cut my own hair, so it's FREE , but I do go to the barber once a year for my birthday haircut and pay only $8.

    $20 is ridiculous...much less $30-$40.

My barber has gradually been increasing his rates for the last little while. In just a short amount of time it has gone from $12 to $16, going up about a dollar with each visit. I've been going to this guy for many years, but I'm thinking about going somewhere else. It's scary switching barbers if you have a guy you like who knows exactly how you want your hair, but at $16 a trim...??

Yeah, I pay about $30-$40 (plus tip) for every haircut but that's for a pretty woman to do it. I'm definitely not paying that amount of money for a barber to cut my hair.

I go to Regis, yes I pay to much but I never get a bad hair cut. And I only go 3 or 4 times a year. (I like my hair longer)

Yeah, cutting your own hair can save over $100 a year. I bought a trimmer for about $15 (I think) and have been cutting my own hair for 6 years. I use setting #2. lol.

my wife is a master stylist at a salon, and her mens cuts are like 18-25. women can get crazy expensive.

in the sense of the experience, time, and talk that women do during these sessions. mind you my wife also washes hair too. but for some hair cuts it really is an art form of sculpture. i have seen 8 dollar hair cuts before, and believe me, unless its a shaved head, most are lopsided.

that being said, i dont pay a dime! she's my wife!

Mine is $35 and I give my cutter a ten dollar tip.

I know it's an indulgence, but it's an Aveda salon, it smells great, I get a neck message with oils and a shampoo. With a family of five I don't do a lot for myself. I work out at home. I don't go to the track or the casino and I don't go hunting or fishing. So once a month this is my treat to myself -- no e-mails, no text messages, no phone calls. Just an hour where it's all about me. In that regard I consider it an investment in pleasure and, perhaps a bit immodestly, I think I'm worth it and that I've earned it by being a good provider, a faithful and loving husband and a hands-on dad.

lol! At least you're being honest.

I've paid for $75 hair cuts and I did look fine too. But my last hair cut was $25 with tip. $20-35 is the typical range. This includes a hair treatment, nice head message, and style with that.

Like many others have posted, cheapo Wal-Mart trimmers for me. Buzz cut for about the 6 warm months of the year. 70's scruffy looking nerf herder Han Solo cut for the other 6 cooler months. During that time, all I trim is the bottom of the back of the head at the neck line to prevent a mullet from growing.

I've got it easy, I don't cut my hair. I let my g/f trim it, but I don't actually cut it.
