What has been your one shining moment, the one thing you are most proud of, the one achievement that has given you the most pride and satisfaction?

Looking back at my scholastic career at Ohio State. Industry liaison, product development member, R&D Technologist to nationally distributed frozen food company, director of college bowl, wrote two published scientific articles on my research, and receiving B.S. and M.S. in Food Science. T'was a busy five years!
What about you Heeeere's Olesker!?

Well... nothing. I suppose, all things considered, I take up space and use resources to keep existing and that's all I will ever be. I've never produced anything of worth or done anything important.
I mean, you asked the question, I'm giving my honest answer. It may not be what you wanted to hear but I'm just saying what's what.
Very impressive, Judith.
I would say the most amazing moment in my life was the birth of my first child, Alex.
I was to be an older first-time father, at age 50, so I studied everything I could during Kim's pregnancy and went to every single one of her OB-GYN appointments. We had an amazing physician in Dr. Jane Rudolph and over Kim's pregnancy we all grew close. But during the fifth month when I told Jane I wanted her cell phone number so I could call her when Kim went into labor, she stunned me by telling me there were five doctors in her practice and that she couldn't guarantee she could deliver our baby. I went into full campaign mode, bringing her soaps from France, occasionally sending her flowers and finally learning from her head nurse what ski resort she was going to with her husband so I could send a bottle of champagne and fruit to their room.
In month eight I went to an appointment with Kim and literally got down on my knees to plead with her to deliver our child. Dr. Rudolph threw her hands up and declared, "I surrender! I'll deliver your baby."
In the delivery room, clad in scrubs, I went through every moment of the delivery with Kim. Dr. Rudolph knew that I was a former Air Force medic and when Alex's head began to crown, she told me, "You've waited all your life for this, Jack. Come down here and deliver your baby." I moved to the foot of the bed, reached gently into the birth canal, slowly turned Alex's small shoulders and eased him out into the world. As I did, I saw his chest expand...and I heard him take his first breath of life.
I'll respectfully submit that those seconds gave me pride, satisfaction and provided me with a shining moment.

Heeeere's Olesker! That's a very amazing story! Through all the ups and downs I bet it was worth it.
MOTU_Maniac, my you were very prolific!! Seven articles alone is very impressive! I'm glad to see you could reconcile with your mother before she passed. That's the one that stands out for me.
Shredder, wolfsfang, and diosoth, the journey is far from over. Life is strange and few paths are straight. That special life event may sneak up on you and happen right around the corner. It may not be the one you are currently looking for or even enter you thought of possibilities, but they have a habit of just falling into place.
While mines is in the past, yours is in the future.

Not much, except these two things:
1. I published two children's books that deals with autism
2. I met Tim Burton
Yup, believe it or not it's amazing. At 10 I sang Ave Maria as a featured soloist in Westminster Abbey on a European tour, Ive served my country, earned medals and decorations, traveled the world, graduated college Summa *** Laude, interviewed rock stars, been on the radio, tv, been published, and none of that compares to watching my son grow up and become a young man. He gives me something no plaque or certificate or award could ever give.BTW, I believe there is someone out there for everyone....ya just gotta keep looking. Try a few dating sites or find friends with single sisters
. It's not about finding your path, it's about blasting threw the brick wall and making one.

That is awesome! You were very busy and decorated! You should be very proud
Thanks friend. You are always so kind to me. I appreciate it.

Diosoth & Shredder: I totally understand how you feel. I can list some things that others have told me I should be proud of, but I personally feel like I have done nothing with my life. My depression often gets the best of me as I often wonder what the point to my life is and why I am still here. With that said, the truth is, I feel that my single most important accomplishment is still being alive despite having an illness that often leads me to believe otherwise.

I suppose I'm still waiting. At the moment, though, graduating from university. Didn’t think I would do it, especially with the amount of lectures I missed. I suppose that’s what university’s all about.![]()
For all those who think they're just taking up space, two quotes:
The first is from the tremendously watchable old film, THE CARPETBAGGERS. When Jonas Cord asks Monica Winthrop "What's the wildest thing you've ever done?", she thinks for a moment, then answers, "I hope I haven't done it yet."
And from the poet Robert Browning: "Grow old along with me. The best is yet to be."
Words of wisdom...words of hope. Seize the day.
Nothing as of yet, so far that I know. Who knows? Maybe I did something for someone somewhere along the way and it changed their life for the better? I highly doubt it, but I suppose if I do nothign else, then making things easier for someone else would be enough for a great triumph.
Buuuuut....as far as things that I want to do, personally...nah, none of that has happened yet. Maybe it will, maybe it won't. Main thing is to stop acting like it'll happen without any movement from me.
"Since you got here by not thinking, it seems reasonable to expect that, in order to get out, you must start thinking." ~ Tock, the Watchdog
Alexx has a blog?! Come on in and check out Toys and Tomfoolery! You won't regret it...until the next morning.
I have ADHD, and Dyslexia with both words and numbers. I beat my ADHD and I'm no longer Dyslexic with words. I do, however, still have trouble long numbers. Even with the trouble with numbers I can do high school Algebra.
So my greatest triumph is beating those disabilities and living a normal life. BTW I'm 33 and I'm hoping to go back to college this winter.
Knowing this, my friend -- "Main thing (emphasis added) is to stop acting like it'll happen without any movement from me" -- means the world can be yours.

How much easier it would have been for you to have just given in and felt sorry for the hand you were dealt. How much more courage it took to struggle against your adversities. How rewarding is it for you to have overcome your obstacles and look back at them from the high ground you now stand on?
You rock, brother!

1. Graduating from college (I was the first person in my family to do it)
2. Getting my driver's license this year, at the ripe old age of 29
3. Working in customer service and not going insaneSeriously, though, customer service work sucks. If you're on a path that seems to be leading to a life in customer service, jump off that path and then set it on fire.

Finding out that, despite my fears, misgivings and autism, I could successfully manage to care for my disabled Dad for five years before he died. I found skills & strengths I didn't know I had...
