Michael Clarke Duncan has Kicked the Bucket

Michael Clarke Duncan's fiancee says the Oscar nominee for "The Green Mile" has died while being hospitalized following a July heart attack.

Publicist Joy Fehily released a statement from Clarke's fiancée, the Rev. Omarosa Manigault, saying the 54-year-old actor died Monday morning in a Los Angeles hospital after nearly two months of treatment following the July 13 heart attack.

The 6-foot-5, 300 pound Duncan appeared in dozens of films, including such box office hits as "Armageddon," ''Planet of the Apes" and "Kung Fu Panda."

Duncan had a handful of minor roles before "The Green Mile" brought him an Academy Award nomination for best supporting actor. The 1999 film, based on the Stephen King novel of the same name, starred Tom Hanks as a corrections officer at a penitentiary in the 1930s. Duncan played John Coffey, a convicted murderer.
The Huffington Post, TMZ, NBC, and a few others have repoted it too...

What a terrible month. Indeed he'll be missed and truly sad that we won't be seeing him as Manute in Sin City 2.
    My condolences to his family.

    That was unexpected.

I keep expecting Mick Jagger or Keith Richards, or Ozzy or Alice Cooper or any of those other old timers who are long past elderly. Seems a lot of the celebrities who have died lately have been early, or suicide, or whatever. Phyllis Diller was the only one of old age, I think.

A great actor who was underrated and (criminally) underappreciated.

I loved him in The Green Mile. I hate to hear this. I even enjoyed him on The Finder.

Long past elderly? Ozzy and Alice? What are you smoking? LOL Alice is 64 and Ozzy is 63, and if anything should have killed Ozzy it should have been all the substance abuse. Hell, Chuck Norris is 72 for crying out loud and was in The Expendables 2. And how about William Shatner? Looks pretty good for an 81 year old.

But as for Michael, that was extremely depressing news to come across. RIP Michael Clarke Duncan

I actually expected this. After the news of his heart attack and how his recovery was going, I didn't feel very positive about his future health. Sad though.

Funny, every time Alice Cooper opens his mouth since 2008, I just assume he was so old he'd gone senile.

This is really sad news. He was so young. That's the worst. I always hate seeing people who are still so young go out like this. He was a very entertaining actor, and he will be missed!

What is this, the 21st century? How can something so potentially avoidable like heart disease still claim so many people...?

Gosh, I really didn't expect this. I just assumed he would pull through after the heart attack. I know a lot of the franchises he was in were pretty much done. Green Lantern, Daredevil, Planet of the Apes, the Finder. They all had potential but none were likely to continue (and the Finder was canceled). But even though the Green Mile was a classic, somehow I just thought his best was still ahead of him. He was a great one, and I will miss him.

I was sad to hear this news last night, I actually cried when I saw the Green Mile for the first time because his performance was that good.

I have been asking this question almost weekly for the past 3 or so years, we have been losing more and more people to either heart disease or "unknown heart conditions"

Michael was a great actor, and from all indications a truly gentle giant of a man. I have liked almost every movie I have seen him in. I will miss his rumbling voice as well. RIP Michael.
