I want one like that.
It has mark "Mattel Inc. 1976 Taiwan", right?
Here is the another one:
I got it some weeks ago from someone who had a member of his family working at Mattel by the past.
Take a look at the paint job in the mouth and on the tail by example, completely different than the massive toys producted, this one got the same paint job than the BC shown on the first Mattel dealer catalogs: http://www.grayskullmuseum.com/publicity/19823.jpg
I got it in a lot of 1rst editions toys including a Panthor Sample (no painted eyes) and a Minty blue bearb Stratos.
Wow thx, I was regarding on the web and impossible to find an other one lol
Yes, it is a 1976 version stamped.
Also all the parts of the armor are Stamped mold number "1"
Two pictures of the Sample Panthor with no painted eyes:
And the blue bearb Stratos:
Nice score! ... the Battle Cat is definitely an early example because the ribbed/texture is still present on the surface (like the big jim tiger).... Most mass produced Battle Cats have lost the ribbing and are smooth, this one still has it ... I have one of these 1st editions in a He-Man & Battle Cat gift set (he is also ribbed like yours) the box does not have Zoar on the back either (another clue of its early origins) but it is still Factory Sealed so I can't remove it to check mold numbers etc...
Out of interest, can you tell if your Panthor is black or metallic purple or what color under the flocking?
Hi -TRaP-JaW-, very interesting about your He-Man/Bc Gift Set, it is an early 8_back one? I can't remember if the regular 8_back one got Zoar on the back
Also under the Panthor's fur, I see red....
A little part of the fur is missing behind the mouth and the color is red, but I can't see under the rest of the body because no part fur is missing more.
I have an early Battle Cat 8-Back version MIB, didn't know about the ribbed texture. I have it on EBay along with a MIB 12-Back version. I will have to check the 8-Back version when I get home from work.
Very Nice Figs!!!!
MY Collection: (some of it)
