Big problem with filming the panels this year was that there were two panel rooms, each with a new panel every hour both days of the convention, and only me with my one camera there to film. I know some attendees and other press folks had their videos cameras in some panels, but for the most part, it was just me. And obviously I couldn't go to every panel. I didn't even make it to see the show floor until Sunday afternoon because I spent most of my time running between panel rooms.

So I missed a lot of them, unfortunately. Didn't get She-Ra, didn't get MYP, didn't get Power Tour, etc. I really wish i could have.

We already have plans to rectify this for next year. We should have a stationary camera in both panel rooms that will record each and every panel.

Thats a shame you couldn't get all the panels but totally understandable, I'm just really grateful you were able to get the ones you did so thanks for posting them. I don't suppose you got the NA panel Jack mentions in your interview with him did you?

Shame the Sword demo got cut short I was enjoying that.
Also seems the Toy Design panel could have gone on longer, I'm sure those guys could tell stories all day and that Martin Arriola seem like a riot
Very disappointed to hear WB wont be putting those special features on the Blu-Ray which I wont be buying now. I'm happy with my DVD copy so with out any significant special features it will be a pass for me.

Once again, all the figures that were revealed (Snake Face, Octavia, Karatti) LOOK great. It was a great mix too, and I'd like to buy them all, IF the quality is good.

Nevertheless, I'm a bit concerned about Snake Face's final execution (there are lots of small pieces in there that could be messed up by the factory and/or by Mattel). I'm also outraged by the fact that his staff might be missing, or that his paint apps could be reduced if the staff comes with him...

Then, I wonder about Karatti's shoulder pad. I sure hope it won't hinder any movement, but that it will be able to stay where it's supposed to be. I also pray that his new crotch won't be made with the hard kind of plastic that King Hsss came with (and which hindered Hsss's legs movements)...

And of course, I have some reserves about the way Octavia's tentacles will be attached, and how they will move and operate (especially with Octavia's hair in the way !)... Fortunately, they're not bendable, which is already a good thing. Also, I hope that the swords will be able to be held and clipped nicely, and won't fall at first glance...

There's another big question that remains too : will the black plastic morbo still be used for these figures ? And if not, will we see other cost-cutting measures that will cause other QC issues ?


P.S. : I can't wait to see how Clamp Champ will look like, and how his clamp will work ! It was cool that they displayed CC's clamp at Power-Con...

I agree, the toy maker panel was unmercifully truncated to accommodate the time slot, but it seemed like they were just getting started! And when is the auctioning going to start (jokingly mentioned by Martin) for the rare prototypes one of the designers brought with him- especially Eldor? Funny also that you mention Martin, because I specifically attended the TM panel just to see him and bear witness to his antics. He's a hoot. So irreverent in fact that I'm surprised he's lasted as long as he has at Mattel. But overall I'm glad he was there because he turned an otherwise blah panel into a learning experience. Always best to get the candid point of view, and he's got that in spades.

I don't 'get' that franchise, and most photos I see of TMNT with MOTUC figures make me cringe. Probably b/c I didn't grow up with it.

I'm all for it. It means more bodies for the con as a whole. I'm not a huge TMNT fan but I'd go to some of the panels for sure.

To paraphrase the line about Tina Turner, Pixel Dan is "The hardest working man in the MOTU universe." Added to that, he's a highly talented reviewer and a true gentleman.

I don't believe he got to tape the panel that Francis Moss and I spoke at, but I know it was shot and I was told that eventually it would be on YouTube.

I enjoyed doing the panel and having interaction with fans afterwards and throughout The Power-Con. It was a wonderful event for me and I'm grateful to all that made it happen, for their relentless and Herculean efforts and also for being gracious enough to include me in it.

I didn't go to PowerCon this year. I definitely would have loved to go but couldn't afford it this year.

From what I've read and seen Power-Con sounds like lots of fun, but it seems a bit disappointing to see so many panels overlap with each other. With something like SDCC it makes sense to have so many panels running for so many properties but since this con is just for MOTU and TC it sounds like attendees are expected to choose between children. The thing I loved about SDCC was that I got some panels in, got some time on the floor, got in some general wandering time, and it felt like an overall well-rounded experience. Sure, there were some things I had to miss out on, but that's only because there is so much going on. I would think that one of the benefits of havig a smaller, more specialised con is that you could perhaps avoid that. Anyway, just my two cents based on my observations. It's defeineitly not a criticism of anyone or anything like that.

One criticism I do have is with regard to Martin on the Toy Design panel. IMO he completely ruined that panel. I would go to that panel if it was run again another year, but only if it was run WITHOUT HIM. He was obnoxious and rude, he spoke over EVERYONE and unnecessarily dominated the whole panel. IMO he didn't contribute anything worthwhile and kept cutting everyone off just when I wanted to hear their stories or what they had to say.

It would be great if the PowerCon guys could do post-con interviews and post them on the org or something. I was really looking forward to watching that panel, and I suffered the whole thing; but there was so much that seems to go unsaid. Oh well.

That would be appropriate and cool! If Power-Con really is on the East Coast next year, I will go for sure. And, if it's a Turtle-con as well, it'd be easier to get Eastman and Laird since I think they live in New England.

I will welcome them into the Power-Con family when the Masters line gets a race of turtle like beings and we get a heroic warrior based off those beings.

I loved the last couple of panels in the new mini-comic and the announcement of Karatti has me excited for more NA figures in this line!

Agreed. I totally understand that so many fans wanted to get to the convention floor. Too, I believe one of the Filmation panels was at the same time as the NA panel and I completely get that Filmation's seminal He-man was vastly more popular that NA. Hopefully next year we'll be able to get a slot that's not in conflict. To my way of thinking -- and, of course I'm not running things nor do I profess to get how it all works -- it would make sense to have panel after panel after panel in separate slots so fans could go from one to the other and not miss any.

A while back I created a thread about if New Adventures toy line had a greek mythology connection ( http://www.he-man.org/forums/boards/...ead.php?219223 ).
I would have love to asked the guys at the Toy Design panel about this, if there was a greek mythology influence, why the original names of the NA characters were changed and why they were changed in US but not Internationally.

I found it very interesting to hear in the panel that the NA toy line was originally going to be in the same scale as the 82 MOTU line but then the decision was made to scale it down.
Its a real shame they never released the Darius figure just because they could get his action feature to work. As a kid I wanted a figure of him so bad because he was a main character in the UK comic, I wouldn't have cared if he had a action feature or not.

I would have gone to the NA panel over the Filmation panel if I had been there. We know loads of stuff about Filmation from the numerous DVD documentary's, interviews and con panels over the years, but very little about NA in comparison, so I would have gone to the NA panel to get more of an insight into that series.

Exactly my case! I would totally go to NA panel if I had attended the PowerCon. There is so much stuff about Filmation released. I find it far more interesting to hear about MYP cartoon and New Adventures. I am sure the writers/art design of these series have lot info to share! Bring them on!

Just as I didn't attend Power-Con for the Thundercats association I can similarly choose to ignore and or embrace TMNT when it partners up with the show next year. I'm all for bringing in more cherished properties from the 80's as it merely broadens the appeal and therefore the audience. As long as the show doesn't turn into another comic-con eventually... I'm fine.
