Post your support for the Masters of the Universe Newspaper Strips!

Hey guys, I was able to purchase a copy of the Newspaper Strips storyline Ninjor Strikes from Power Con signed by Chris Weber. Afterwards I went to the Panel and was able to meet and speak with Chris and his wife Karen.

They have all 13 of the original stories complete and original from the papers. Both of them are major He-man fans and are very interested in getting these out to the fans in some way. They are looking into a website initially that would let fans at least look at the strips and read them. They also stated interest in eventually making a book with all these strips.

Let them know your interest! These stories are quite interesting as they had a lot more leeway from Mattel in what they could do such as a love interest for Man at Arms!

Chris and Karen said I could contact them and keep you guys updated so stay tuned

YES! I'd love for there to be a physical re-printing of these strips, didn't even know they existed till some years ago on the internet. So did he work on the one where King Hiss releases that giant snake that wasn't Serpos? Remember seeing old scans of that and would love to see those more professionally scanned like with the Power & Honor foundation has been collecting and restoring old concepts, that comic had a ton of detail within, and it deserves that kind of loving restoration.
Can he print and distribute those as a collected edition independently (like as a Kickstarter project) or does it have to be under Mattel?
Visit my art page at: http://theblock.deviantart.com/ , if you like my work and have an account there to, feel free to fave or watch me, I could use the street cred !

    OMG !!!

    That's a terrific news !
I've been collecting those original strips for a long time and I have more than 50 sundays colored strips right now.
The Gerald Forton art is awesome !!! Just like Filmation character design...take a look at Spikor and Two Bad (below).
I remember the last stories publicated here in Brazil were about 'New Adventures'.

Do you really think Chris Weber has ALL stories, specially the first one (which he did not worked on it) ?
Is there any way I contact him ? Does he has a website ?
The newspaper strips stories are much better than vintage DC or Marvel comics and certanly the MOTU rarest publication ever !!!
I am sure Mattel don't have those strips anymore...
My stuff is avaiable for Chris anytime he wants..

Chris does not own the first one by Jim Schull-Day of the Comet, but is trying to see if he still has it. Otherwise I have a copy.

Chris has the other 13, which is all of them licensed for the U.S. and English Language Markets. Here is some screen shots of the titles of them all and a picture of the Story Ninjor Strikes I bought at the Charity Auction!

BTW, this can be pretty much considered a sequel to the cartoon as everyone who worked on it worked for Filmation at the time and have actually worked on the cartoon itself.

So it's truly a valuable piece of MOTU history.

    Thanks for sharing, jmb410s !!!
To meet Chris Weber and his wife was one of the most reasons I really wanted to attend to Power-Con this year...

I have all (but one) one-page sundays colored strips of 'Day of the Comet' , incluiding the rare prolog mini-story. I posted this rare piece of art here two months ago.
It seens the brazilian sequel was the same as US one...

All my stuff is original and in Portuguese language. No English newspaper.
Yes I have 4 colored sundays one-page strips of 'Ninjor Strikes'.

As Grimbot said above, that's the best way to imagine how cool a 3th Filmation season would be....
The characters were just like Filmation ones (look Spikor, Two Bad, Rokkon, Stonedar, Granita, etc).
On the other hand, there are many characters here that never showed up in cartoon (Ninjor, Mosquitor, Clamp Champ, Ssqueezee, Snake Face, Blast Attak, Scare Glow, etc).

As some fans said on the other thread, Mattel shouldn't have these strips anymore. I am sure this is by far the rarest MOTU stories ever !!!

    Two more questions:

1- Do you know if Chris has these sundays colored pages ?
2- Can you confirm the last story was based in 'New Adventures' series ?

    We talk soon..

From the sounds of it he has all the colored Sunday strips. I will ask him about the last story being NA.

jmb410s and I were going back and forth in the bidding but it was clear that he would not be denied! LOL! Congrats dude! And YES, it would be mind-blowingly awesome to see all of these. As jmb410s said, Chris and Karen intend to make these rarely seen stories (4 years worth, from '85-'89!) available to fans. These tales explored several characters we know little about (such as Ninjor) and also introduced new recurring characters such as the snooty Duke Tiberon who was an Eternian prime minister. There was also Miranda, a scientist from an Eternian town called Rondale who was a love interest for Man-At-Arms!!!

They said they wanted to put them on a website first so everyone could read and enjoy them and then try to get them all in a book later on.

I'd love to see these. Growing up having the Stars And Stripes as my main newspaper caused me to miss these cool strips.

also, congrats! jmb410s, for your winning of the ninjor strikes auction!
