Had a blast at Powercon and as I was leaving the hotel after the show on Sunday, I ran into someone that had worked at Mattel during the 80s line and lookie what I got to hold!!




There were a few other .orgers around me, that heard me have a nerdgasm out load when I saw him and I was giddy as a little school girl.

Getting to see (and hold!) him and a few of those other protos was beyond amazing, as someone who will never have the money to purchase them.

Now it's pure speculation but I CAN'T WAIT TIL WE GET HIM!!! Remember folks is HE IS an extremely pivotal character of this universe even if he was considered a prototype... He is the one who saves Gray/Ro which helps begin the Powers of Grayskull!

I've been a He-Ro and Eldor fan since before we even had the Style Guide to go off of--prototype pics, a single mini-comics page, and the back of the dinosaur boxes. He-Ro was the one figure I knew I had to get out of the Classics line, and while I've nabbed a few others, Eldor is the one I've been waiting for in the four years since.

Of course, that also means I've completely disregarded both the Gray and Ro origins for He-Ro, and whatever they had in mind for Eldor, I'm pretty sure I messed that up as well. (I'm quite certain they never intended for him to marry the Sorceress . . . )

Just being able to get a picture of Eldor and hold him is worth the trip there! I usually don't care about prototypes, but Eldor and He-Ro are the stuff of legends!

It was Eddy Mosqueda who had this prototype with him, along with many others such as Darius from NA and a purple haired Tytus. He says he also has an all flesh colored Megator at his home.

He and the other old Mattel guys kept referring to him as Men-tor. They said that was always supposed to be his name, but it was changed to Eldor. But they all kept saying Men-tor instead, because that's what they all knew him as.

If you haven't seen it yet, here's the video of the Legends of Toy Design panel, where Eddy first busted out the prototype for all to see. They discussed him for a bit as well.

i was wondering if mattel could launch eldor as a conmemorative 30th Aniversary of masters of the universe, that could be wicked! the prototype is there!, i sold all my almost complete vintage collection ( just missing tytus, megator and he-man laser light) but i would loveee to have one Eldor moc on my wall
that should be an AWESOME 30th aniversary item!

Very cool pic. You lucky guy! I didn't even know that was at the Con, would have loved to talk to the owner about the possibility of casting it. Wish I could have at least seen it though.

eddy estimated it's value when i asked him at the con at around $20,000... so, each of those twenty people are gonna have to pony up a grand!

was great to see gigantisaur drawings by dave. and he threw away the prototype? sounds like he regrets it of course.

dave also mentioned he worked on eldors book of living spells holograms.. why didn't anyone ask him more about that?
