I don't think Eric Scot Frydler was joking, but I suppose it's possible that Toyguru was, if that's who told him the figure was coming.

More reveals in July, then more Toyguru blogs until sub emails hold us over into Toy Fair 2013.
Then 2014 will be revealed at SDCC (including the best SDCC figure to date) Sub sales will do very well due to A-Lister presence, but it may carry over into 2015 with solid leftover B-characters. 2015 and 2016 will be very shaky once 2014 runs the well dry.
The original roadmap should have been followed. Everyone would have been placated.

For what it's worth, he also claims to have invented Quidditch in "Eye of the Storm." I just dug out my copy of that comic and have come to the conclusion that maybe it's best not to believe too much of what he said.

I'm right there with you this would be the worst reveal ever!I hope this was a joke......
Possibly the lamest character ever! Dude at a picnic, I mean the Scientists, Songster, Plundor, Twiggits, Crackers are all legendary compared to Josh and I have zero interest in any of those also.
I must say (and this is no offence to anyone), I think a Josh or Songster figure would split the community like no other reveal EVER...
As for future reveals, I hope Mattel look to the overwhelmingly well received characters at PowerCon for their future reveal strategy. Snake Face was a given and was a popular reveal, but Octavia - a high-profile Filmation character - and Karatti - a lesser-known character - were both hugely applauded by fans. I'd love for this to shape future quarters because it makes it much more exciting and unpredictable...
Imagine if the next three were Clamp Champ, Batros and Peekablue? Or Clamp Champ, Castaspella and Calix? Clamp Champ, Sea Hawk and Crita?
Either way, we know we're getting Clamp Champ. I just hope the rest of the reveals for 2013 match up to some brilliantly unexpected and diverse selections (the aforementioned, plus Netossa and Fang Man, IMO).
Yeah, but it's only one month's figure, so who really gives a snapple ice tea? Am I wrong? Granted, I hate to waste a spot on a dud figure that no one really wants, but this line has yet to deliver that for me, so my faith is on the idea that even a Josh or Songster would kick ass when rendered by the Horsemen.

...And I must say to retort, if we get either of these before Mantenna, Glimmer or Two-Bad I will officially quit the line, end of story. And no matter of outpouring from friends, fellow fans, or people at Mattel saying their jobs are on the line is going to make me think differently. I want the full option to not buy either of these z list figures.

Settle down folks we are not getting a Josh figure anytime soon. Eric had mentioned his intent for him during the mini comics panel on day one as being a friend of Bow and a regular character (being to Bow what Robin is to Batman --- not that Bow is anything like Batman). It seems he had a whole background developed including powers we never saw and Eric supposedly talked with Scott about this in the event that he ever does become a figure in the distant future ... Which I would be thrilled about. The rebellion needs more males which was Eric's intent all along despite roadblocks from management (hmm sound familiar?). His proclamation on day 2 I think was a product of him not being familiar with the new line and how it works.
