    Rank Saurod's Importance

Next up is Saurod who hopes you will all be kinder to him than Skeletor was.

This is a multiple choice poll with 2 categories to vote in. The first category is whether or not you would buy a variant of this character. The second category is the overall importance you feel this character brings to the franchise.

    Variant worthy?

Variant Worthy: This is a character that you believe is variant worthy. You're willing to purchase different variants of this character even if your favorite version is the first one released. Matty can certainly put them in MOTUC's quarterly variant slot for you.

Not Variant Worthy: You don't feel this character needs any variants whatsoever. You only hope that when they make this character that they get them right the first time around. You do not want to be taken for the ass.

    Importance

A-List: Integral to the story and the franchise. MOTU isn't MOTU without them. This is a core character that is extremely important to you. If Mattel doesn't make them, someone will have some serious explaining to do!

B-List: They might not be integral to the story in your eyes but this is an excellent supportive character that helps to round out the story, franchise and your collection.

C-List: You feel this is a good guest star type of character. You don't expect to see them hanging around the supportive crew all the time but you still want to see them show up to lend a helping hand now and then.

D-List: Fills the role of background character and cameo maker for you. You acknowledge their existence but in a very limited way. This is an "okay" character.

Z-List: You'd rather forget about this character entirely. Should they never be mentioned again in MOTU-lore, you would be quite happy. This character would kill teh lien for you.
Proud supporter of the Snake Men.

Most Wanted: Slave Girl, Crita, Lizorr, Tyrantisaurus Rex, Great Black Wizard.
Most Wanted Filmation: Lord Masque, Ileena, Granita, General Sunder, Teela, He-Man, Skeletor, Hordak head.

No Slave Girl? Watch us hurl!

A barbaric world without slave girls? That's truly barbaric!

C-List, no variants; a great character though, and I'll be thrilled to get him!
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

D-List and not variant worthy...being a villain upgrades him slighty but being a one-shot character who is killed in the MOTU movie without uttering a line is as about as obscure as you can get.

I have no care for the Movie figures....so Z-List & I can't really see a purpose for a variant. But so long as he's not a sub figure, he wouldn't kill the line for me, but I'd seriously sell him long before he arrived.

C-List not variant worthy, but then again not every one of the Masters should be variant worthy; I guess the poll is just set up that way.

I guess since nothing of Saurod ever cam to fruition since he bascially had only 5 minutes, my theory would revamp him by saying that he was originally a Snake Man who Snake Man At Arms altered in an experiment he and King Hssss worked on to create a new form of Snake Man. Since the experiment did not work out successfully, they abandoned him where he was discovered by one of Skeletor's men and brought back to him where he became a servant and hopeful key in Skeletor's eyes to defeating Hssss.

Not Variant worthy but a must-have for me. I'm REALLY hoping for a movie character this year. We NEED one already and if it is Saurad that would be awesome. Not quite as cool as Gwildor or Blade but come on....his action feature was shooting sparks out of his mouth! Fire for kids. How is that NOT cool!

    D-list. No variants.

With that said, he'd probably be one of my favorite figs if we ever see a Classics version.

D list, no variants, but he is on my short list of wants because I think the 4H can really do a lot with him and I am interested in how the bio fits in.

like usual, I dont see a variant in this.

I would say I ranked him D, because he has so little to him. But like many characters, though he just hasnt had much to make him interesting or much story, that makes him a great template for using and going somewhere cool with him. He could be a new important character in a new story, but as is, meh, background.

would have been cool if there was an episode where Skeletor hired bounty hunters to get He-Man, and we could have seen animated versions of Karg, Blade and Saurod.

B-list and not variant-worthy. Iconic design, featured in the movie, had a vintage toy, and is one of the very few characters to actually get killed in official MotU media.

The name "Saurod" itself, plus the character's shape, strongly implies he's some kind of saurian (i.e., lizard-like). Why do some people seem to equate anything reptilian with the Snake Men? Snakes are only a very particular kind of reptile. Wouldn't it sound ridiculous if someone proposed Lizard Man to be a Snake Man? Same with Saurod.

I want him and any one who collects MOTUC, should too! Yeah he was a movie character, but he also was a vintage figure, who shot sparks out his mouth! Wow who wouldnt want him? Blade was awsome as well, and was also turned into a figure! The only one I felt that deserved the same treatment was Karg but maybe one day soon!

The only reason why I would throw this out there is because it's not like you're gonna have Mattel create a Lizard Men faction or Dragon Men faction as theoretically true this is.

They're all reptiles (and as a matter of fact: lizards and snakes are the closest in relation within the reptile family as they both are classified in the same sub-group: Squamata, along with worms...) and since they couldn't think of anything 'jazzier' they grouped it all under said Snake Men banner and I'm sure for the most part the target group this toy line was aimed at wasn't debating the classification order of the class Reptilia. So it's not that ridiculous...

But check this other concept: imagine if it came to be that Saurod was actually Lizard Man who was eventually captured and transformed into Saurod, since he really never had anything but leaping abilities and was modified to this???

Saurod was my favorite movie henchman, and he received a toy back in the 80s. To me, he is visually far more exciting, and far more important to the line than at least a dozen existing/revealed MOTUCs.

Then again, I feel that way about many figures yet to be produced. My taste seems to be shared by a underwhelming minority.

Definitely not an important character, but I always loved the design, and would gladly display him with Blade and fellow hoped-for D-Lister Karg.

He has so much potential to be a B-lister. Saurod was the best thing to come out of that movie IMO. I would love to learn more about his character in some of the new comic book series.

Kind of like Boba Fett - or any of the Bounty Hunters from Empire. That is what makes him cool to me. Plus, I really dug his spark shooting ability.

For some one who tried to collect all things MOYU related, Suarod was an awsome character regardless of the flop of a movie. He is an A lister and a major want.

but I have to admit, on the scale provided he is c-list and non-variant.

I have no idea who he is, so Z-list. But I think he looks really cool.
Top want list: Evil Seed, Snake Mountain Man, Mask of Power Demons, Dree-Elle, Uncle Montork, Mini-Comics Beast-Man, 200x Beast-Man, Teela 2.0, Battle-Ram, Snake Mountain, & a hardcover collection of all the mini-comics.
