New He-Man video game for iPad and iPhone - now with She-Ra!

Ok...after playing it A LOT...I have my review.

Style: 5/5. The look and feel of this game is perfect for what it is. It's a campy take on MOTU and I am completely ok with it as this is just a small mobile game.

Gameplay: 4/5. At first I was a little disappointed due to the very repetitiveness of it but as you move through the game, and upgrade your moves, the repetitiveness kind of goes away and you can do different combos so it's just not "slash everything randomly."

Controls: 2/5. Very difficult and non responsive. I gave it two stars due to the set up and "idea" of the controls but it's so low due to how it actually turned out. I have a problem with the jump and attack being on the same thumb. The left thumb should've been all of your "moving" controls while the right thumb should've been all of your attacks. I find myself trying to jump (especially on the Mer-Man boss stage) and just slashing instead.

Story: 3/5. I may be just being picky because it's so simple but I do have to keep reminding myself that it's a mobile game and the idea of those games is to just be able to pick them up and play.

Worth it? Yes...but don't think this is a perfect game...it's difficult to control and you're going to find yourself aggravated with it just because it's not doing what you want it to do. Sadly, this is the only gripe I have with it but it's a big aspect of the experience and it really ruins it for me.

This game is a blast! Really getting a big kick out of it!! Love the style, music, and all the bits of fun to be found.

I've also finished it, but am having a hoot and a half scouring the locations for the hidden goodies (and getting some of those elusive 3 stars!).

I didn't know there were hidden portals (thanks for the tip!). Used all my crystals in buying the aerial smash upgrade (thought I could smash the bridge where the "H" was hiding), only to find out that what I really needed was the Thunder Uppercut upgrade instead

I don't find the controls bad... For a touch screen platformer. The aerial smash is unresponsive at times but everything else works fine most of the time.

Check out the iOs Mega Man games if you want a good example of bad controls, you'll appreciate this game so much more!

Honesty the easiest way to beat merman is getting a power of gray skull and using it on him. That should beat him the first time around.

Yeah, but it takes something away from it for me. When I get to a boss...I don't want it to be easy...I want it to feel like I have to actually try. Beating him with one shot is no different than him being one of the countless minions that are within the game.

All this time Skeletor has tried to defeat He-man, and all he really needed were some flying bats! I hate those bats!

The slimy blobs and the icicles with feet from the Mer-Man level were the two innocuous seeming opponents that caused me the most damage.

Left hand : moves forward or back.

Right hand: Tap to attack, swipe up to jump. You can swipe a second time, and if you time it properly you will do an additional jump while up in the air (getting you higher).

Once you get that, it's a piece of cake.

I had an issue the first few minutes trying to remember that, but once you do it's a really great set-up. I'm surprised to see complaints in reviews about controls, I've never played a touch screen game that was so easy and responsive to play.

It depends on how long it hangs out in the top 25. Yes, it's an astounding feat - but let's now hope it has staying power.

That said, it's a crying shame there isn't some link to MattyCollector, etc. in it - this many eyes haven't seen He-man for quite some time, and assuredly a lot of sales are coming from people who loved it as a kid and haven't thought about it in years. PRICELESS advertising...if it led them to MOTUC...

You will LOVE IT Tomski! It uses a LOT of battery on the iPhone version... I'm going to download it on both to have a portable and 'home' version...

This game kept me up too late last night but I can't wait to get back into it again this evening. I don't think the controls are any worse than other iOS games out there. I give it an A+ and hope that it's popularity will bring new fans into the fold.

Great game! Lots of fun! I am a little frustrated with the controls, mainly when it comes to turning around quickly, other than that no complaints. So I am a weird OCD gamer when it comes to games like this but I won't move on to a new level until I have 3 stars on every level. Has anyone gotten 3 stars on 1-3??? If so, HOW?!

I was wondering about how to get 3 stars too, but I have on several occasions. When I finish the levels with 3 stars some acheivements I got included : over 85% of enemies klled, over 85% of gems collected, and less than 4 hits to complete level. I'm not sure about time either being a factor. Any other theories?

I think an easy way to get 3 stars on bosses is just to get a few power of grayskulls and ManatArms power ups. ManatArms destroyed Skeletor in 20 sec

1-3's stars must be glitched or something, I get over 85% of the jewels and beaten it without getting hit. I have no idea what else to do since that's usually all you need to get 3 stars.
Not to mention you have to deal with unskippable cutscenes in that stage.

I was originally bummed because I wouldn't be able to play this... BUT - strangely and coincidentally enough I just fell into a brand new iPad 3 (long story short... Won a $500 Mohegan Sun gift card four years ago at a trade show for work - never used it then found myself once again at Mohegan Sun Casino at another trade show for work and stumbled upon an apple store (that was never there before). Needless to say I got a 32 GB iPad 3 for $140... Was thrilled...

THEN after using my new iPad for a few days (I didn't realize the game was already out) I was in the app store and saw the MOTU game!!! I downloaded it immediately and played it! GREAT game! Though it is still early for me - one qualm I have is that you cannot change directions/turn around while in mid-jump or mid-jump+attack... The is a MAJOR play control flaw (HINT developers... correct it!!!). With the onslaught of enemies it is pivotal that you be able to quickly turn around and attack as needed,

Even though the play control of this game is GOOD... Play control makes or breaks a game. Mega Man, Metroid, Castlevania: SOTN all have superior play control and allow the player to be one with the controller/character... This game would be greatly improved with this minor alteration I suggest above...

GREAT graphics and presentation! Can't wait to play more!!!
