Its good to finally have confirmation that talks are taking place. After reading that interview I will be shocked if the original actors don’t return to reprise their roles. The fact that he said Lucas proposed to write them out of the script if they didn’t return tells me their roles are fairly small. I imagine that Luke will probably have the biggest role out of all the original characters, though.
So Mark Hamil is proposing a Salacious B. Crumb movie? I would not oppose this.

It totally is starting to sound like Star Wars is going to be getting the complete Disney treatment what with all of these ideas of spin off movies floating about. I'm waiting for the animated Star Wars musical movie next with Salacious Crumb as the wise cracking sidekick voiced by Chevy Chase.

I'll be super stoked if they sign on Harrison Ford, Mark Hamil and Carrie Fisher!

You sound as if Star Wars wasn't always silly and childish before the disney purchase. The original trilogy, which most guys in their thirties & fourties say is the only good Star Wars movies, where made for children. Which would kinda explain the following......

    1.Rubber comical puppets.
2.A hand puppet almost eating a ship.
    3.Teddy Bears
    4.Funny robots
    5.Space Pirates and laser swords.

But lets hope Disney don't make it too childish.... LOL

Interesting enough in regards to the handpuppets which were done by Jim Henson, both Henson and Disney originally started using their mediums of choice (puppets, animation) for adults, but in a way that if kids came across it there wouldn't be OMG you won't believe what my kid was watching last night. Kind of like what happened with Anime in the 80s, someone heard that in Japan they make animated porn so all animation from Japan must be porn.

How much of a role she'll play is as yet to be determined, from what it sounds like. I hope the new films don't try to bring the 'New Jedi Order' books into live action. The ending to those books sucked!! I'd rather the new films distance themselves from as much of the 'expanded universe' as possible when it comes to the rotten storylines that have been conceived.

Examples such as Emperor Palpatine returning as both a clone and a ghost in the Dark Horse Comics and Jacen Solo, the notorious Jedi pacifist, becomes a demi-god at the end of NJO which spoils the book by tying up loose ends in a very rushed, very lame way.

    They're In

Lucas of all people seems to have confirmed it to Bloomberg Business Week, then he back tracks. This is the full article talking about the buyout: http://www.businessweek.com/articles...-for-star-wars

This is the quote from Lucas all but confirming "The Big Three's" return:

Asked whether members of the original Star Wars cast will appear in Episode VII and if he called them before the deal closed to keep them informed, Lucas says, “We had already signed Mark and Carrie and Harrison—or we were pretty much in final stages of negotiation. So I called them to say, ‘Look, this is what’s going on.’ ” He pauses. “Maybe I’m not supposed to say that. I think they want to announce that with some big whoop-de-do, but we were negotiating with them.” Then he adds: “I won’t say whether the negotiations were successful or not.”
That should be enough to put all the rumors and whatnot to bed, IMO. Now we're just waiting for an official confirmation. The main article itself is very interesting, so I recommend giving it a read.

Copied from my favorite wrestling news website.

WWE Champion The Rock told media in Australia this week that he wants to be a part of the new Star Wars franchise that JJ Abrams will be working on.

Oh God no! Keep him away as well as all the other well known-overexposed actors we have these days. Personally I would like brand new faces in the new trilogy as well as a few "proper" actors.

I like the Rock (for his wrestling career, not his acting). If he's willing to wear a mask and have his voice dubbed over, ala Dave Prowse (David Vader) & Jeremy Bulloch (Boba Fett), then i'm happy for him to be a part of it.

Otherwise, seeing Mr. Dwayne "If Ya Smell What The Rock Is Cooking" Johnson show up In A Galaxy Far, Far Away would seem too out of place, as it would basically be a celebrity cameo. Even just hearing his voice on Transformers: Prime was a distraction for me.

The Rock isn't a horrible actor, but he would stick out. Of course I thought Samuel Jackson was going to stick out horribly but he didn't much. But The Rock is great size for a Wookie.

Aww, come on, Johnson has already been in Star Trek, so why not Star Wars. Abrams seems to think he can do it, so why not? LOL

Yes, tell him NO!!!! Capital N and Capital O!!! Wrestlers are actors of a different genre and don't belong in Star Wars movies unless Lucas and Disney want the new films to be flops.

That's like saying Michael Bay thinks Megan Fox will make a good April O' Neil.
