I just recently watched The Alien set ( I hadn't seen them in many years). The first two are just amazing movies!

I recommend The Host and Trollhunter. They are probably classified more as giant monster movies, but fun to watch!

Near Dark - perhaps one of the best vampire movies that will ever be made (especially now they are all sparkly)
Strangeland - as a Twisted Sister fan I can't help but like this movie
House of 1000 corpses - as a Rob Zombie fan I can't help but like this movie
The Devil's Rejects - this was actually a pretty good movie but not really a horror
The Hills Have Eyes - the original, I have never seen the sequel or the remake

* Hellraiser ~ Pinhead = Awesome.
* Night Breed ~ I can still picture that guy peeling his face off!
* The Gate ~ Laughable now but not when i was young.
* Wolf Creek ~ Aussie horror film.
* Fortress ~ Aussie thriller, but did scare me as a kid.
* The Shining ~ Creepy! J.Nicholson... what can i say?
* Christine ~ Weary of '58 Plymouths after seeing this...
* Robocop ~ Yep. After watching Murphy get shot to bits, desensitised me forever but i grew to like the film.
* The Omen ~ Who'd have thought a kid could cause so much havoc like Damien?

Yes, in honor of Halloween, and to get to know my Eternian neighbors, I was curious what's your favorite monster/horror movies? For those that like those style movies, anyway.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am not a fan of modern slasher movies because I hate the whole gore shock factor in movies these days. They sacrifice a story for extra gore and violence. That's why I absolutely love the old black and white monster movies from Universal and RKO. Those, IMHO, are classics.

There is only a few "modern" monster/horror franchises that I like. They'll be in my top 10.

Prince Of Darkness (1987)

Love that movie. Not counting the fact that there's a cute red head as the lead (which is always a bonus for me!), it has a really interesting idea and plenty of atmosphere, especially the 'future video' snippets (which are very unsettling). Not sure why it's as reviled as much it is (beyond the fact that people had certain 'expectations' of John Carpenter)
