    The Wicker Man
    The Orphanage
    Pan's Labyrnth (horror fantasy)
Paranormal Activity 1-3 (I know some people hate them, but I find them scary and a playground for your imagination)

    Dead-Alive/ Brain Dead
The Night of the Living Dead
    From Dusk Til Dawn
    Halloween 3

I'm generally not a huge horror movie fan but I do have some that I have really enjoyed over the years. Here's my favorites:

    Alien
The Fly (remake with Jeff Goldblum)
    The Ring
The Vanishing (would you count this as horror or suspense?)
The Phantom of the Opera (Lon Chaney, silent film)
The Phantom of the Opera (Claude Raines)
The Phantom of the Opera (Robert Englund, cheesy 80s slasher style but awesome nonetheless)
    Bram Stoker's Dracula
    Dracula (Bela Lugosi)
    The Wolfman (Lon Chaney, Jr)
    Creature From The Black Lagoon
    Frankenstein (Boris Karloff)
    Bride of Frankenstein
    The Mummy (Boris Karloff)
    Mary Shelly's Frankenstein (Kenneth Brannaugh)
    The Thing (Kurt Russell)
A Nightmare On Elm Street (the original, still haunting)

I just recently watched The Alien set ( I hadn't seen them in many years). The first two are just amazing movies!

I recommend The Host and Trollhunter. They are probably classified more as giant monster movies, but fun to watch!

    For ones that haven't been mentioned yet;

Near Dark - perhaps one of the best vampire movies that will ever be made (especially now they are all sparkly)
Strangeland - as a Twisted Sister fan I can't help but like this movie
House of 1000 corpses - as a Rob Zombie fan I can't help but like this movie
The Devil's Rejects - this was actually a pretty good movie but not really a horror
The Hills Have Eyes - the original, I have never seen the sequel or the remake

The first two? What do you mean? There are only two movies, Alien and Aliens.

Agreed 100%! We may have to add in a third depending on how good Prometheus is.

I have very lucid and ongoing nightmares (for years) after watching horror movies, so I don't watch any of them anymore.

    Top 10 Favorite Monster/Horror Movies

Yes, in honor of Halloween, and to get to know my Eternian neighbors, I was curious what's your favorite monster/horror movies? For those that like those style movies, anyway.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I am not a fan of modern slasher movies because I hate the whole gore shock factor in movies these days. They sacrifice a story for extra gore and violence. That's why I absolutely love the old black and white monster movies from Universal and RKO. Those, IMHO, are classics.

There is only a few "modern" monster/horror franchises that I like. They'll be in my top 10.

    ________________

    My Top 10:

    10) Dracula
    9) Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein
    8) Predator and Predators (not Predator 2)
    7) Terminator franchise (minus Terminator 3)
    6) Halloween 1 and 2 (not the remakes)
    5) Creature From the Black Lagoon
    4) Aliens franchise
    3) The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms
    2) The Thing From Another World
    1) King Kong - 1933

Another movie I always watch at this time of year but I don't know if I'd qualify it as a "Halloween" movie is "Nightmare Before Christmas".

    So how's about you all?

Love that movie. Not counting the fact that there's a cute red head as the lead (which is always a bonus for me!), it has a really interesting idea and plenty of atmosphere, especially the 'future video' snippets (which are very unsettling). Not sure why it's as reviled as much it is (beyond the fact that people had certain 'expectations' of John Carpenter)

There is Trick or Treat and Trick 'r Treat. The second was made just a few years ago and is an anthology horror movie that is one of the best horror movies to come out in some time.
