I would do the design from further into the MOTU myths. Show the. Height of MOTU.

My list would be

Heroes
He-Man
She-ra
Man-At-Arms
Teela
Zodak (not Zodac) with his unhelmeted head.

Villains
Skeletor
King Hiss
Hordak
Gygore
Draego Man

I want to show that this is not just a regular Castle grayskull. This is THE CASTLE GRAYSKULL. It embraces all the parts of the classic universe.

I'd prefer there's less than 5 heroes & 5 villains, only beacuse I'd be worried that 10 characters might be look crowded on the front of the box. I love the old box art, especially since you see so much of the castle........ and I would really like to keep the box this time.
But with that being said, I'd vote for:

Heroes:
-He-man
-Battle Cat
-Zoar
-Teela
-Man-At-Arms

Villains:
-Skeletor
-Beast man
-Evil-Lyn (I know she's not an original 8 back, but she's always been Skeletor's second in command IMO)
-Mer-man

I'm with the group that would like the boxart as vintage (8 back) as possible.
I wouldn't even vote for Trap Jaw, even though he has always been my #1 absolute favorite MOTU character.

....and no offfense to Scott, but if Spector appears on the box, I'm quitting teh lein!

It should be He-Man + 4 good guys, Skeletor + 4 bad guys and the Sorceress. She IS Castle Grayskull, she shouldn't have to fight for a place amongst the ten. I'll play by their rules, though:

He-Man

Beast Man
Hordak
King Hssss

The two heroic leads of the franchise
The three main enemy leaders of the franchise
and the "key" members of the Heroic Warriors and Evil Warriors.

I'd also be cool with substituting Beast Man or King Hssss for Draego Man, as a way of bringing things up to date. But of course I'd rather have both!

I like this list. To be more conservative, I'd go with:
1. He-Man
2. She-Ra (in place of Teela)
3. Sorceress (In place of Zodac)
4. Man-At-Arms
5. Flipshot (in place of Stratos)

6. Skeletor
7. Beast-Man
8. Slush Head
9. Rattlor (Snake Men - Rattlor was featured as working with Skeletor in both the mini comics and Filmation, he was also a Hordesman)
10. Catra (Horde/POP - Catra was featured working with Skeletor in Filmation)

With this being the MOTUC playset, this box art needs to be ALL-INCLUSIVE. To be otherwise would undermine what this toy line was meant to accomplish. I see all sides of the debate. But to suggest that the box art simply be more an update of the original is a biased myopic, and conservative view. Most likely, this playset will be the ONLY one made for MOTUC, so it SHOULD represent the factions a little more than some of our conservative compatriots would suggest. I did NOT feature Hordak or King Hsss because they were both faction leaders, and I think that role should go only to Skeletor for this box art.

I already posted who i think will be chosen or have a change to be the chosen ones but JVS3´s post made me think...

Castle Grayskull was built by Tytus and supervised by King Grayskull, Queen Veena and Eldor and threatend by Hordak, King Hsss and maybe even Demo-Man?

It would be fun to see those characters and would make sense.

Also like the vintage vehicle art, new characters could be established. Like Sharella, as one of He-Ros mentors it would make sense to show her or new Snake Men characters (maybe a female?).

So many possibilities here !!!!

That picture is great and it´s awesome to see all those faction and different characters.

But i have one problem, they hide and distract Castle Grayskull to much.

The original art showed the characters on the side, as part of the picture but not as the most important thing.

A big epic fight is a cool thing but for the box art i want the Castle in the centre with the heroes protecting it and the danger coming from a (maybe all from) different side(s).

Actually you are incorrect Niki. In the pic, everyone covering Castle Grayskull were always there. The characters off to the left and in the air are new.

I didn´t mean that picture and i love the additions to that awesome picture, the more factions the better.

I meant the original Vintage Box Art. It´s totally showing off the Castle and i hope the new picture will focus on the Castle more than the characters.

That´s why i think a picture in Preternia would be great. The characters have the familiar look but are different than the Vintage one and except for NA(which is the only big down side) all faction could be represented:

King Graskull/Queen Veena/Eldor/Sharella/Tytus- Good 200x/Concepts/Vintage
Hordak/Calix/Catra- Horde Vintage/200x/PoP
King Hsss/Rattlor/??Female Snakewoman??/- Vintage/new character

Also, love the idea of an ancient/preternian battle scene for CG artwork. Someone mentioned it being the flip side of the box art. That's a great idea!
