    Mad Max - Fury Road

As an Australian, Mad Max is considered a cultural icon and the jump start of Mel Gibson's career. Unfortunaltely, Mad Mel will not be reprising his role but I am still looking forward to this movie.

Principal photography began 9 July on the dystopian action adventure "Mad Max: Fury Road," a Kennedy Miller Mitchell production written and directed by "Mad Max" creator and Academy Award(R) winner George Miller ("Happy Feet"). The film will be presented by Warner Bros. Pictures in association with Village Roadshow Pictures. It will be distributed worldwide by Warner Bros. Pictures, a Warner Bros. Entertainment Company, and in select territories by Village Roadshow Pictures.

"Mad Max: Fury Road"--the fourth in the franchise's history--stars Tom Hardy ("The Dark Knight Rises") in the title role of Max Rockatansky, alongside Oscar(R) winner Charlize Theron ("Monster", "Prometheus") as Imperator Furiosa.

According to Miller, "Mad Max is caught up with a group of people fleeing across the Wasteland in a War Rig driven by the Imperator Furiosa. This movie is an account of the Road War which follows. It is based on the Word Burgers of the History Men and eyewitness accounts of those who survived."

"Mad Max: Fury Road" also stars Nicholas Hoult ("X-Men: First Class") as Nux; Hugh Keays-Byrne ("Mad Max," "Sleeping Beauty") as Immortan Joe; and Nathan Jones ("Conan the Barbarian") as Rictus Erectus. Collectively known as The Wives, Zoe Kravitz ("X-Men: First Class") plays Toast, Riley Keough ("Magic Mike") is Capable, and Rosie Huntington-Whiteley ("Transformers: Dark of the Moon") is Splendid. They are joined by supermodel Abbey Lee Kershaw as The Dag and Courtney Eaton as Fragile, both of whom are making their big screen debuts. Also featured in the movie are Josh Helman as Slit, Jennifer Hagan as Miss Giddy, and singer/songwriter/performer iOTA as Coma-Doof Warrior.

The cast is rounded out by well-known Australian actors John Howard, Richard Carter, supermodel Megan Gale, Angus Sampson, Joy Smithers, Gillian Jones, Melissa Jaffer and Melita Jurisic.

Miller is directing the film from a screenplay he wrote with Brendan McCarthy and Nico Lathouris. Miller also produces the film, along with longtime producing partner, Oscar(R) nominee Doug Mitchell ("Babe," "Happy Feet"), and P.J. Voeten. Iain Smith, Graham Burke and Bruce Berman serve as executive producers.

The behind-the-scenes creative team includes Academy Award(R)-winning director of photography John Seale ("The English Patient"); action unit director and stunt coordinator Guy Norris ("Australia"); editor Margaret Sixel ("Happy Feet"); production designer Colin Gibson ("Babe"); Oscar(R)-winning costume designer Jenny Beavan ("A Room with a View"); and makeup designer Lesley Vanderwalt ("Knowing").

Shooting on "Mad Max: Fury Road" is taking place in Africa with the support of the Australian government. Originally slated to be shot in Broken Hill, New South Wales, Australia, the production was forced to relocate due to severe flooding, rendering the Australian landscape unsuitable for the film. The rain turned the area into an oasis instead of the post-apocalyptic terrain that is the setting for Max's world.

I would have loved to have seen Mel Gibson as Max. This still has potential, though.

So they're going straight for the "Road Warrior" vibe... that's disappointing. I much prefer the first film, with a few elements of society remaining.
I survived the 2013 sub ordeal!

No Mel Gibson and craploads of CGI? This isn't Mad Max, it's Mad Bane. And supposedly this is set after the third film when they were using methane for fuel. Somehow I'm curious as to how they are fighting for the last supplies of gasoline, especially when you factor in the fact that gas has a short lifespan as usable fuel.

Mel Gibson, between his repeated anti-semitic rants and threatening to kill his own wife, has roughly a 0% chance of getting into a movie like this again. His acting career is basically dead at this point.

I think it looks great. I don't know what all is CGI, but I do know that they did a ton of it practical. And I'm glad Mel Gibson isn't a part of it, frankly. I'm crazy excited about it.

Dare I say it, but this looks beautiful. The cinematography is lush. George Miller is a visual genius, so it looking as good as it does is no surprise.

"Dead?" In the words of Unicron, "You exaggerate." You are aware that he's been in four movies since 2010, five when The Expendables 3 comes out. He's also starring in Blood Father coming out next year.

And how many of those movies of his have been hyped? He's basically getting table scraps after all the bad press he's had.

To be honest, he stepped away from the main actor chair a long time ago, way back in 2002. I think you're wrong about Hollywood being sick of him, personally, I think he finally decided to walk away from the front of the camera. My god, for twenty years he was basically starring in one or two films a year from 1982, I'd get burned out too. Seems like all the real trouble for him started after he divorced his wife.

Yeah, sorry, but Mel Gibson hasn't had a hit since Signs. That was in 2002. I think he'll still get little roles here and there so it's not like he hasn't or won't act again, but I'd say his days as a leading man are pretty much done. But, that's been said before about different actors and they've come back. I just think he'd be more toxic than anything to this movie, so I'm glad he's far, far away. Better to have a clean break and try to build something from here on out. There's always the old movies to enjoy.

This was a loooong wait. Finally the Road Warrior is back!!!! This trailer was so awesome. Miller is an artist when it comes to high adrenaline chase scenes. This took me so many years back. I still have the pack with the three videotapes, that together form Max's face.
The original MOTU among the other influences was also influenced by the Mad Max movies. Eternia was at the beginning a post apocalyptic world with the surviving barbarians, vehicles and weapons from the old world combined with a Sword and Sorcery mythology. Who knows maybe one day we see this Eternia on the big screen. How awesome will be to see a chase scene like the Road Warrior's with the MOTU vehicles.

Gotta admit that trailer was awesome and the movie looks really good.

I've seen good trailers though before from movies that ended up sucking.

The trailer for Fury Road is almost hypnotizing. I just watched Road Warrior again for the first time in a long time last night and
it's crazy how much this trailer has that vibe (like both movies could be only a couple years apart when made even though it's been 33 years )

Just saw Rotten Tomatoes gave this a 100% fresh rating (don't think I've ever seen a movie get that before on their site) I know what movie I'm going to see this Friday

Ready for the return to the Wasteland after 30 years

With the last of the V8 Interceptors

And just a tribute to one of the most memorable intro, in the history of cinema:

    Welcome back Max!

Okay, I liked it. But let's be clear, this this can't be considered a sequel. It's a reboot, by George Miller, thankfully and not some idiot hack director from Hollywood. It's practically non-stop car chasing action though, so don't expect a lot of character development. Hell, Nicholas Hoult's Nux was the most emotive and interesting next to Charlize Theron.

Tom Hardy is no Mel Gibson, and to be honest I thought he was more Mad Bane than Mad Max. But, as I said, if you are looking for a good summer popcorn flick with plenty of explosions and action, it can be found here.

I was deeply impressed with this flik. My friend, who wasn't all that fresh with the franchise, wanted more character development to better understand why he should care about anyone. But viewing it as an individual serialization in a large franchise, it's dam near perfect.

Definitely an 11/10 for me, but a warning to anyone not familiar with the previous films - you won't get any explanation about anything in this. Expect non-stop action, great ideas and set pieces, and fantastic eye candy all over the place. But don't expect answers to what the flashes of random faces mean to Max.

Amazing. I thought it looked gorgeous, had some of the best action scenes in recent memory, and had some incredibly memorable characters.

You sure? I thought it was pretty clear this was a post-Thunderdrome Max, just played by a different guy.

Just saw it tonight and it's amazing Everything was perfect and Tom Hardy picks up the reins well as Max.
This movie kinda reminded me of Gravity where it doesn't feel like you're watching a movie but part of somekind of experience

Fantastic movie!!!! Amazing action scenes, no stop action, great characters, Charlize Theron and Tom Hardy incredible as Furiosa and Max. And "Toecutter" is back in a new role! It's by far my favorite movie for this year, so far. It leaves way behind that meh, that was the Age of Ultron.

Mr Miller at 71, he teach how an action movie should be made! Well done! Now hoping for more sequels of Mad Max's saga in the post apocalyptic Wasteland! Oh and DC is pubblishing a new Mad Max comic book. Yeah!
