Wow, that's awesome! I doubt his production was lower. I think he just appealed to a lot of people.

Wouldn't make sense to lower his production. He is that popular. The creator isn't a bad fellow either.

I kinda doubt it, plus Pixel Dan said he'd gotten more people asking when that review was coming than any other review he's done (or something along those lines).

Indeed, Daniel is a fine fellow, and congrats to him on such a fast sell out!

A seller that bought the 10 max are selling them on Ebay now for $35 - so people can still get him - although the seller was selling them at 29.95 until he sold out a few minutes ago.

EDIT: almost gone there too - I better get a finder fee for that one.

I was on Matty shortly after 12:00 and saw a white screen so figured I would wait a bit and order him. I went back and he was sold out. I must have just missed him (frowny face). I hope there's a black Friday 30th aniversary box set. I really only want Dragoe and Grayskullman, but will buy the collection at a reasonable price.

CONGRATS to Daniel! He must be proud to see his figure sell out so fast. I know I would be.
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

He's a quasi army builder and will definitely look great with a couple standing guard outside Castle Grayskull. I'm not surprised he sold out quickly, but that was very fast.

I logged in right at noon, grabbed CG Man and Dekker and finished my checkout at 12:01. I wasn't going to waste time like last month as I figured he'd go fast.

Congrats Daniel, your figure is the fastest selling 30th figure, by a longshot. Even Draego-Man took over 2 days.
CG Man has even outsold vintage figures. One of the fastest sellouts of the year.

I was initially planning on getting him, but porch repairs had to be done and that ate up a lot of my funds until week after next, so I had to pass on him or hope that it didn't sell out right away. As it turns out, I wouldn't have gotten one even if I was financially strong due to my schedule that day and the extremely fast sell out time.

Now I think my only chance is to hope that one can be had for a reasonable price in December, which I'm very much doubting. I like the guy, but I'm not going to pay an excess of $40 for him, which most likely means I'll never have one.
Matty, Great Black Wizard figure please!

All you have to do is compare this to any employee who creates something for a company and gets shafted on royalties (Example: Rob Liefeld created Deadpool and gets no royalties for the character from Marvel). The employee agrees to the job knowing they will not get any royalties for stuff they create for the company (and in some cases stuff they create for themselves on company time or using company resources). So, saying that Mattel was not being ethical by writing rules that screwed the contest winner out of royalties just doesn't fly with me. It happens. We all know it. That's the paradigm. If Mattel HAD to give the contest winner royalties as part of the deal, that would cut into the profits. Companies are in business for profits. Always have been. Nothing new here. We think it's not right, but I don't see it changing. Ever.
    Take it easy,
    Drew

Looking for: deals on MOTUC Roboto, King He-Man, Meckaneck, Zoar (from Sorceress) and more!
Have to trade: A couple MOTU vintage, GIJOE (vintage 3.75 inch and 25th Anniversary figures and vehicles), Star Wars, Transformers (movie line), and Marvel Universe and a few Marvel Legends, plus MORE!.

    Agree.

Honestly, I have never been a big defender of 'creator rights'. People can go on and on about how Siegel and schuster were screwed over on the rights to superman.... but seriously, They SOLD him. They did the job, and they got paid.

DC paid for him basically sight unseen... SOME characters make it BIG... Some characters are utter FAILURES. Just look at any character's 'rogue gallery' for every Joker or Doctor Octopus... there is a Kite man and Rocket Racer... Why does a clown that kills make it... but random other guy does not? Is there anything intrisically awesome about Doc Ock?? Not really...

If companies had to pay big cash for EVERY character that ever hits their shelves... they'd close up shop. or we'd only have 2-3 books on the shelves. And frankly that hurts the entertainment value of the product.

Castle grayskullman was pretty sweet. (Honestly, I blame the swords... those AWESOME.) But the winner of the CaC COULD have sucked... Out of the other 5 ONLY Dragoman gets any credit at being cool... why would Mattel pay big cash for something that COULD have sucked and profits were based entirely on the whims of it's fickle fans

There's nothing 'inherantly unethical' about buying something for a set price and then hoping it is popular.

My main comic buying days were the 90's... we had brand new characters getting their own books every 6 weeks... not ONE of them is a headliner now!!!
