Cannot wait to see all the artwork for Unnamed figures.
The Power and the Honor Foundation is proud to introduce to all fans Errol McCarthy, the artist behind many of the vintage figure card backs illustrations and Style Guides. Perhaps the most prolific MOTU artist, his name has remained unknown to the fan community for 30 years.
The PAH Foundation had chance to meet with Errol, talk about his work on MOTU and his life as an artist and see his amazing original work.
Check out the full article on The Power and Honor Foundation website and see a sample gallery of his original pieces.

Congratulations to PAH for the amazing interview !
Errol McCarthy deserves all credits for his wonderful work at Mattel...
Do you know if he was responsible for the illustrations on the card front too (like TP He-Man, DB Skeletor, Ninjor, Scare Glow,Sorceress, etc) ?

You are the best! Thx!![]()
Thanks for the links, Jukka !
I always thought it's a privilege for all MOTU fans that names like Earl Norem, Rudy Obrero, Alfredo Alcala, William George, Bruce Timm, Gerald Forton and now Errol McCarthy, worked in many many MOTU publishing.
But, in my opinion, the artist that catched Eternia's best inspiration was William George !
His 6 posters and all art boxes are always in my mind...
On the other hand, do you know the artists behind all those covers of coloring/activity books, Golden Super Adventure Books and POP art boxes ?
Cool find and article! I can't wait to see some of those lost drawings!![]()

Thank you for the amazing tidbit of info P&H Foundation! I recently made the call out to find out if anyone knew who did those "lunchbox" illustrations back in the day, as I had recently colored some of Errol McCarthy's vintage line work as a fun exercise.

So it's very nice to hear from a man who inspired me from a young age, as well as give credit where credit is do. Thank you Errol McCarthy!!![]()

This is a great thing for fans. Some of that card back art is awesome. Can't wait to see even more. Great work P&A team. Well done.
I think Fred Carrillo did some MOTU book-illustrations.

I purchased mine months ago in a flea market...
Aladdin company released a She-Ra thermos in Brazil too. Take a look:

I apologize because it is not subject of this topic, but this could be the right place to ask...
Who is the author(s) of pictures for these covers?
Uploaded with ImageShack.us
This one is one of my favourite MOTU artworks since I was a kid. It is much more realistic with great details than most of others showed above, but based on the style of how characters look I believe that they all might be from the same author.

Maybe this one is from that author as well?

Cool article and gallery, and I'm looking forward to the PoG art. (Does it include any of the text? Any idea if Mr. McCarthy knows anything about the origin of Eldor and the role Keldor was supposed to play?)
Also, this may help me confirm/track down a couple pieces I remember seeing on sleepwear at the very end of the line. One was Ninjor vs. Movie He-Man, the other was He-Man in front of what must have been Gigantasaurus, with Sy-Klone inside the control center. Any knowledge of these or pieces that I might be misremembering as such?
Mr. McCarthy told us he has very little memory of these. He was a freelanceer and he was just cranking out illustraions for Mattel.
Yes, we can fonfirm both pieces. It's actually cool that you confirmed the Movie He-Man vs Nijor was actually used. Also, this may help me confirm/track down a couple pieces I remember seeing on sleepwear at the very end of the line. You remember them perfectly, they were both by Errol and part of a huge lot he did for Bates Nightwear. We have been lucky enough to scan those too![]()
Please PowerAndHonor, when and how you'll can share all of these illustrations with us?
Can you confirm also something for me please? Have you in the lot of the scans the He-Ro backcard Art illustration?![]()
