Looks like Mattel is using the MOTUC buck for DC again... New 52 Darkseid MOTUC!

I love the idea of this figure because no one does fully articulated DC figures better than Mattel, but this figure looks like poo. His head is 1000x too large for his body and although I love his face sculpt (much better than DC Direct's much more expensive version) the entire effect is ruined by the scale wonkiness all over this figure. All around suckfest.

BM was a great show. The Maximals were always on the run as Megatron ruled Cybertron. The animation was smooth and well done. It had a good ongoing storyline to it. Not to mention Megatron rocked the Optimal Optimus body in a single episode compared to Primal's 13 he had with it. Add on top the homages to the G1 story with the Key to Vector Sigma and The Plasma Energy Chamber, and you have one great show.

I don't get it, the BAF Darkseid from a few years ago was perfect. If you want to make a 52 Darkseid, who is just as big as the original, why not use the BAF version as the base? This Darkseid is too small and disproportionate. The DC Direct version was an almost instant sell out so maybe Mattel is trying to get a piece of that apple pie.

When did the DCD one come out? Does he have "Arms Falling Off" syndrome?

Maybe it's just me, but I don't see a MOTUC buck used in this figure. I also prefer my DCUC CnC Darksied over the new 52 version.

DC Collectibles is making a New 52 version of Darkseid that comes out in December and it is pretty much sold out everywhere you look. Here is the link on Big Bad Toystore:

Wow it sure does look like a bunch of MOTUC parts. But I am sure they will be slightly off. I am pretty sure the MOTUC stuff is just for MOTUC. I could be wrong. Hasbro has shared parts between Star Wars and G.I. JOE multiple times. Almost used GI JOE bodies for a Jurassic Park line. So I guess anything is possible.

The New 52 Darkseid is one of the most hideous redesigns of the bunch. Bleargh. I hate to even think of MOTUC parts being used in such a monstrosity.

What exactly is the deal with part sharing between lines? I mean didn't I read that DC wasn't happy about MOTUC using the bird?

I know it happens like with Demolition Man using NA bodies, & GI Joe weapons in the Congo line. But how do they decide?

Also if DC was upset about the bird, then why didn't they say anything about Ultra Humanite's arms being used for Shadow Beast? Different scale, same sculpt. Or did they say something & I missed it?

I'm sure there is some system behind it, I'm just not seeing it.

Shadow Beast/Gygor are not the same sculpt as Grodd/Ultra Humanite. It's the same artist/sculptors, so the work can look similar.

Yeah, I don't think Mattel has every actually confirmed these are MOTUC parts, have they? I seem to remember them saying the Batman everyone thought shared parts didn't.

Only the shoulders is what they said. The MOTUC parts can be used on DC, but not vice-versa. At least, that is how things appear.

That is actually just what Scott said... Which doesn't seem true from the pics. When asked if he was a MOTUC buck, the 4H actually said:

“Yes and no. Parts of him [DKR Batman] are MotU re-use and some are not.”

Now had it just been shoulders, I am fairly certain the 4H would have said "nah, just his shoulders are". I think this is just a case of Scott having the wrong info. Take a look at this post from Itsalltrue.net to see that many of the parts on DKR Bats are pretty clearly re-used from MOTUC-

If that isn't parts re-use... Then Mattel wasted a ton of tooling dollars to make them look identical to MOTUC.

After seeing a picture of the new Darskseid figure fron Mattel I notest some resemblence of the MOTUC body. Is Mattel reusing parts from MOTUC? What do you think guys?

Depending on how big he is, well, looks like MOTUC parts to me from the abs (skipping the briefs) down....either way, he looks like crap, way too big up top compared to the rest. Leech is better proportioned than him.

No, the huge one is a DC Collectibles Darkseid and is 100% unique sculpt.

The one in this thread is the 6 inch Mattel version, hence the re-use of parts that make absolutely no sense.
