    ive always though bathing the basic figs will put moisture back into the rubber bands-or at least loosen them up a little if they were turning white. I keep all my figs downstairs where its cooler so the rubber bands don't dry out also.
    out of my 200+ vintage figures i've only had 2 snap on me. gi joe on the other hand......
