The Power of Mattel art show at Gallery 1988 - starts Friday, September 30th

The Power of Mattel is the second annual art show in tribute to the timeless toys by MATTEL. Curated by Ecuadorian illustrator & designer, CHOGRIN, the show features over 50 artists from around the world illustrating their own take on toy lines like: He-man, She-ra, M.U.S.C.L.E., Dino-Riders, Mighty Max, Street Sharks, Food Fighters, Rock'em Sock'em Robots, and the Magic 8 Ball. The show will take place & premiere at GALLERY 1988, the world's #1 source for pop-culture fine art.

The show's opening reception is tomorrow, Friday, September 30th from 7pm to 9pm Pacific. And the show will be on display through Saturday, October 15th.

You can see cool pieces like this awesome action figure designed by CHOGRIN himself, inspired by He-Man and the look and feel of Castle Grayskull. Click here to see his He-Chogrin piece from all angles on the main page.

Postcard #1 art by Jason Cryer.
Postcard #2 art by Manuel Kilger.

The show will also feature this Castle Grayskull sculpt by Robot Soda.

I'll keep the images coming, courtesy of the show. But I suspect we'll get to see all of them soon from great photos taken at the event!

My question with the Point dread painting is:
Is the tiger jumping behind Skeletor evil or good?
I remember there was a art introducing many felines
back in the 80's... some were fighting on the right side
while others would try to kill heroes of Eternia.
    Does anybody remind this?

Yes, Rudy was asked to do box art not knowing who was good or bad and he thought cats were the main steed of choice for warriors.
That art was created before any story lines had been nailed down.

Here's the piece I contributed to the show. It's Modulok of course. I tried to combine vintage, MOTUC, and Filmation into some ultimate version of the guy. I even give him the Horde bat he's been denied all these years.

That is a brilliant piece! I love it immensely!
Orko: It's like the Sorceress said: sometimes, the ones who seem the worst, need our help the most.
    He-Man: You're learning.

Love this piece. Just ordered a print! I was so mad when I heard that this exhibit opened the day I left LA (I was in town last week). At least we get to see things online...
