What's the worst movie you saw in theaters in 2012?

I'd have to go with American Reunion. Not what I call a horrible movie, but my least favorite of the ones I saw in a theater. It felt like nothing more than a nostalgia trip and not much to it.

I'm asking about just movies you saw in theaters, because it is a lot easier to rent clunkers, etc..

    Prometheus

I HATED that movie. It super sucked. No it mega supreme extra super sucked. It created a whole new level of immense suckitude that just the thought of it causes bile to rise in my throat. Not only was it a god awful piece of rubbish part of the Alien franchise it was just so epically bad in its own right

not just the worst movie of 2012 but also a contender for worst movie EVER...of all time

That is really hard because I saw 30 movies this year and 15 of them were down right dreadful.

I think the worst movie would have to be Dark Shadows though. There is absolutely no reason Tim Burton and Johnny Depp should have come out with a giant stinking pile of **** like that.

Others would include The Bourne Legacy, Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter, Underworld Awakening, and Ghost Rider.

I honestly can't come up with a movie that I just didn't like IN THEATERS because I do a lot of research and read a lot of reviews before I go spend top dollar at the theater. I rarely ever see a bad movie in the theater. If there is a questionable movie I want to see I wait and pay $1.25 at RedBox. lol.

Now, a few movies from 2012 I didn't go see and won't even rent because reviews are so bad:

    ~Piranha 3D
    ~Battleship
    ~That's My Boy
    ~Alex Cross
    ~The Watch
    ~The Words

Toss up between Ghost Rider and Dark Knight Rises. I am a big fan of both Batman and Ghost Rider and both movies were horrible in my opinion. It sucks Chris Nolan took the Dark Knight series in the direction he did. Batman would not have bailed on his city for 8 years.

Also batman would never retire from being batman, in fact batman was he he really was and bruce Wayne was his disguise.

but if I had to pick a movie it would be Abraham Lincoln Vampire Slayer wich I don't think was nearlly as bad as people say but still wasn't all that great. But I loved Prometheus, American Renunion, and Dark Shadows.

I refuse to see Battleship and can't stand those Madea movies.

Really? Because I recall a little comic titled The Dark Knight Returns where Bruce had stopped being Batman for 10 years.

Secondly, Bruce did not give up on Gotham, he was being what Gotham needed him to be.

Third, he did retire at the end because it was an ending. Movies are not like the comics where they are going to continue on forever. He left the city in good hands.

Which Ghost Rider??? The first one was better than the last one and Nolan's Batman film's were not that good as a whole except for Ledger's Joker the movies were hollow at best...Christian Bale was NOT a good choice for Batman he was the same character when he played Bruce Wayne & Batman when they were supposed to be different...(Especially the voice) bad....

DC really does not know how to do their comics characters justice compared to Marvel (You haters can hate and not want to admit it) but facts are facts:

    Green Lantern
    Jonah Hex
    Superman Returns
    New Batman Trilogy

    Avengers
    Iron Man I-II
    Captain America
    Thor
    Incredible Hulk

And others down the pike I love both Marvel & DC but DC just doesn't get it when it comes to their movie adaptations of their superhero movies because instead of panning out and doing other films of the FLash,Wonder Woman, etc they concentrate on SUperman & Batman ALWAYS....And Green Lantern they rushed made it feel forced they should take a cue what Marvel does.....

I don't go by reviews because the majority of the time they are just people hating to hate these two were not bad films and Battleship wasn't that bad it was mildly entertaining and it gave a pretty slick way of how they used the concept of the game in the film...

I saw a lot of stinkers this year. I think the worst was Battleship. Who ever thought that this board game would translate into a watchable movie? American Reunion, The Bourne Legacy, and Hyde Park on Hudson were really terrible, too. I always prefer to think about the good movies instead of having any of these stinkers take away any more of my time.

After being won over by the antics of Paranormal Activity 3 last year, I was extremely disappointed and let-down by the lack of anything exciting going on in Paranormal Activity 4 this year.

The Ghost Rider Spirit of Vengeance movie that came out in early 2012.

Very true. I enjoyed Batman Begins and The Dark Knight but I did not enjoy Rises. DC is making their heroes way too depressing. Even Superman judging from the last trailer.

Going by what some are saying, i'm glad i didn't frequent the cinemas much this year. Unfortunately there are two films that i won't be watching again anytime soon (or ever again)... Looper and Red Dawn.

Completely disagree on Batman, as it is the only time they have ever done him correctly in live action. We will never see DC ever match the quality of Nolan's movies.

Anyway, Superman will be bad because it is Superman. There has not been a single good live action Superman movie, EVER!!! The Donner Cut to Superman II is almost good, but is still ruined by a jokerster Luthor and Superman's ability to retcon history.

For me it is quite a draw between Prometheus, Battleship, Resident Evil Extinction and in a lesser way, probably The Hobbit (pretty much a remake of "Fellowship..." but with dwarfs and more gratuitous CGI characters)

IMHO, I think that the first Superman is glorious, and and it gave a really big help in the way to look at comics as stories for movie material in a more "serious" way. It has it flaws, but a great movie overall. It was quite a milestone if we consider that the other previous big break through comic in another media was Adam West's Batman.
By putting in perspective, it is by far a much better movie than 90's Captain America (and First Avenger as well... again, IMVHO), Batman Forever, Batman & Robin, Ghost Rider's, Punisher's, Daredevil, FF's, Spidey 3, XM3 and even Superman Returns, which have much more technical resources to enhance the attributes in the way to film such fantastic story.
Great trade orgers: Son of Keldor - sdilks -JeMaBo2 x3 - Kowl - Bigassbuzz (Hyveofvillany) - Queen Marlena - mikescab

I'll go with Dark Shadows. No way that movie should've been made. Burton should be ashamed.

Hmm. I'm really trying to think of a movie I saw in theaters that I didn't enjoy. I guess my least favorite would probably be either Dark Shadows or Paranormal Activity 4 but I certainly did not dislike either of those movies.

I agree about the first two movies. They were the perfect Batman movies and Nolan nailed it on those. I did not like Rises because I felt it was a horrible way to end the series.

SPOILERS for those who have not seen it:

Bruce Wayne would not have faked his death and left Gotham like he did. That seems out of character for him.

The Dark Knight Rises was the worst movie I have ever seen.

I forgot John Carter was this year, so I think that is tied with Dark Shadows for my worst movie of the year.
