Should Prince Adam and He-Man Be Separate Characters?

Should Mattel separate Prince Adam and He-Man?

Some ancient magic or machine causes them to split into He-Man, and Adam respectively. Each character would then have to deal with the reality of being separate.

They would both still have all the same memories, except He-Man would be powerful, while Adam would have to learn how to cope without the power.

Should they be separated? Would you be ticked off?

No, they shouldn't be seperated! The dual identity is one of the things that drew me to He-man as a kid. The fact that a magic sword can make an average guy super was very appealing. I still think it's an important aspect to the story and should stay that way. I know there are mini comic purists that would disagree but personally I think it was a great idea and by seperating them it takes away from the mythos.

Fun idea! With King He-Man on the way, it gives Adam somewhere to go in the storyline.

I think we're all too used to Adam crying out "I Have the Power" to become He-Man.

Well, originally it was his harness that gave him his super strength and also acted as a force field. So he always relied on an object for his powers. But yeah, most people are going to be more familiar with the Adam/He-Man duality.
    By the ancients!!!

no, its already well established that he-man & adam are one in the same. why change it. its good & has drama & other good story telling elements.

As in two completely seperate bodies-- of course not.

But two completely seperate personalities (Banner/Hulk sorta)-- perhaps.

Maybe that would be fun as a single story arc for the comic or if it had been an episode from the show.
    Not forever though!

prince adam is either he man or non existant. you can have he man without prince adam as in the early era. but you cannot have a prince adam without him being heman

Well No.... But that would not take away from a great possible storyline in which they are separated for a period of time in which they would eventually re-merge together.

Case in point: my 'Thumbnail Theory' has this happening after the events of the "Rise of Castle Grayskullman"; in which after the separation, Adam eventually comes to the conclusion with He-Man being around (on his own fighting evil) he will begin a journey to learn everything he can about the Legend & Power of Grayskull.
'Tis the wind and nothing more.....

No. Both PA and He-Man have been one in the same to me for a lifetime.

It's like Doc Oc is Spider-Man after all those years...wait...

Seriously, He-Man is Adam plus the magics of Grayskull. So he has the superhuman strength and all, but it's Adam's soul and mind.

'Course not, that would be like crossing the streams...

...Having said that, there's no Adam in my MOTU world, and I will never buy the figure (unless it's to customize it into something else), but the line is fine like it is, because not everyone feels the way I do about him.

    Bump.

I've always thought Prince Adam was an awful idea, but I was interested to see this concept drawing from the recent art book.

Prince Adam was originally conceived as a separate character, and I think it would've been cool to see him portrayed like this.

We all know that the wide variety of characters is a big selling point of the toy line. We have monsters, robots, barbarians, astronauts, magicians. We even have cowboys and ninjas. One thing the line doesn't have is a Three Musketeers type character.

This "foppish" version of Adam would have provided an amusing conflict of personalities with He-Man. I can imagine that our loincloth-wearing hero would've found this guy insufferable, especially if he were a romantic rival for Teela's affections.

I'm not saying I would rush out and buy his figure- I'd prefer that Prince Adam didn't even exist- but if he were to appear in a future storyline, I'd much rather see him as an individual than as a completely unnecessary secret identity of He-Man.

I think it would be a very cool story for a mini-comic, or a 6 issue DC Comic arc, or an episode of a new cartoon. I don't think I'd be into it as a permanent change, but it would be a fun "what if" scenario that was finally resolved with things "going back to normal" for the two of them

For a twist, they could be separate characters who, through magic spell shenanigans, become fused into one person.
