    Sky Tree Diorama Piece

My first custom piece for the year, I figured I'd start out BIG! And I DO mean BIG!

Since he's the only living creature on Eternia older than Granamyr, I figured it was very poetic that I should finish my diorama piece before the old dragon got here (he's due in a few days via tracking). So I finished him today, and I'm actually impressed by him. His base is a 4' Christmas tree with aluminum foil wrapped around the lower trunk (to add roots and thickness to it as the FILMation cartoon was wider at the bottom than the top), aluminum foil for his nose and lips, and air-dry clay for his eyes. I also glued some reindeer moss around the black metal base to look like a forest scene. In the photo, I have Moss Man (verey appropriate, I think) standing beside him for size comparison. So here's his bio (his "Real Name" is an inside joke; that's what my baby sister named the mini-Christmas tree she put up in her bedroom every year as a kid):

    Sky Tree
    Oldest Living Creature on Eternia
    Real Name: Bruce Spruce
The oldest living creature on Eternia, he gained sentience through the magic of the Star Seed spreading through his roots and up into his trunk and leaves, truly pulsating with life. The tree became a living creature that could talk with people or animals. Tullamore the elf was charged with taking care of Sky Tree and protect him from being cut down by anyone. To help aid the elf, a pack of powerful blue wolves were created and responded only to orders from Tullamore and Sky Tree. Over the millennia, Sky Tree grew and seeded most of what would become the Evergreen Forest, giving animals and forest folk a place to live away from the villages that grew into towns and cities over the years. Around him, his seedlings gave birth to the forest, spreading from the Mountains of Gnarl to the Caverns of Rakash and from the Ocean of Time to Castle Grayskull. Much of the outer parts of the Forest were destroyed during the Spell of Separation caused by Hordak, but what remained is still immense and larger than even the Vine Jungle.
Sky Tree had no enemies save one: Granamyr. The great dragon was jealous that Sky Tree was the only being older than him on Eternia. When He-Man and Teela came to the dragon asking for help to return Man-At-Arms from an emerald statue back to flesh, caused by a spell from Skeletor, Granamyr asked for a gift in return for his help: Sky Tree, chopped down and brought to him for his fire. After hearing He-Man’s story, Sky Tree gave permission to be chopped down as he was ready to lay down his life to save Man-At-Arms, but He-Man was moved with compassion and spared the great tree knowing he and Teela probably faced banishment or worse from Granamyr for failing to bring him his gift. Lucky for them, Granamyr was also moved with compassion and spared not only He-Man and Teela, but also gave the heroes a book of magic spells to free Duncan from the enchantment. Sky Tree still stands at the center of the Evergreen Forest, his seedlings growing all around him in great splendor.

Thank, everyone! I've been told (on another place I posted my pic) I need to fix the lips, but I'm not sure if I will or not.

Looks awesome! Where did you get the tree you used as a base from? I'm very interested in making a Sky Tree for my own display and that base is exactly what I'm looking for.

    Very nice your Tree Mistico.
I think that the measures of the tree are very realistic.

I got it at a craft store called Craft Warehouse. They were discounting their Christmas stuff & I got it for $15. It's a 3-piece set (top, middle/trunk, and metal base) which is really easy to put together.

I agree. I had the option of getting a 5' tree at the craft store but figured the 4' was probably tall enough for size comparison.

awesome! I want to do one too! love that you have moss man there, I wanted a revisited "The Dragon's Gift" and I thought it would be the best way to introduce mossy to the world. have him replace tolemar and make him and he-man have a battle.

An interesting idea; kinda goes back to the original mini-comics like Ram Man or FILMation Man-E-Faces where He-Man has to battle them before becoming friends. I want to make a Tullamore figure one of these days & have him sitting on one of the roots with a couple (probably static) wolves guarding Sky Tree like they're supposed to.
