Sigh, Vykron could've been a neat homage to He-Man's roots if only Vikor hadn't done it better. The barbarian face sculpt looks like the vintage He-Man face and the Tank Top attire is wacky but fun. Even the Space Ace attire kinda has a cool retro look to it...If you ignore the diaper, heheh!

Sadly, the snap-on pieces feel cheap and doesn't fit in with the signature interchangeability of the line. Being one of the first figures to suffer from the Blastic issues didn't help, either. Ultimately, I felt that Vykron succeeded in being true to its origin; A He-Man figure that's not really a He-Man figure.

Keep up the good work, RockinHard...While we're constantly looking forward and speculating about which MOTUC figures we'll get to see in the future, it's nice to relax and appreciate all the cool figures we have right now!

Great thread!! stay with it, we're all here with you till the end. love the pics too.

Now, on to the rankings, lol,

If i started a list, most all variants would be at the bottom: HH, PD He-man, BA He-man, BA Skeletor, SMAA, Green Godess, TOD, wun-dar, DB Skeletor, and BGEL.

The only variant I really think is cool, is Thunder punch He-man. can't wait to see where u have him ranked.

Space Ace Vykron would probably be at the very bottom of my list. I really just don't feel he was executed well at all. I love having the Sweet trio on display, but Space Ace is just not a good MOTUC figure.

Tank-Top, however, I love. I know the star throws people off (apparently Eternia has no stars or something) but his design is wacky and just a bit cool. The snap on armor's bulkiness doesn't hinder him in the way it does the other Vykrons, as it works for a bulky tank guy.

The Goddess really is a cool figure but her QC really hurts her ability to function as a figure. She really does look quite different from Teela, especially since I never display my Teela with her snake armor.

Still surprised that no 30th aniversary figures have shown up yet (I'm looking at you, Sir Laser Lot!).

    Cringer

It was a long time coming to finally get a Cringer figure. Moreover, a Cringer figure that was Filmation-based! However, to call this a “figure” is a bit of a misnomer. The figure has a head cut and a tail cut. That’s it. And honestly, I don’t think I’ve adjusted Cringer’s head or tail once. It’s basically just a hunk of plastic sculpted to look like Cringer, which is unfortunate. Also unfortunate was the choice to sculpt it a little too small for a proper MOTUC release, noticeably appearing out of scale with the rest of the standard figures (the figure doesn’t even come to Prince Adam’s knees!). Nevertheless, it IS a new 100% new tool that has not been reused, something that is pretty rare for MOTUC.

I can't move from this pose!

Strangely enough, I like Cringer. I do wish he had ball joints in the head and tail, though. I think we know there won't be another Cringer in this line, so they could have done that much at least. But I like the look of him.
I'd love to see that buck re-used for a young Panthor, to stand with Keldor.
Also, that first pic of the Goddess is awesome.

I still have hope that a proper articulated Cringer in this line will eventually be released... This version is a Cringer cub...

    Only time will tell...

I have Cringer, I like him, but considering his lack of anything but detail, he's at the bottom of my list. But basing him solely on sculpt, he is a really nice figure to have on display.

And Vykron....hmmm, betwen the horrible pictures of chipping paint and the ridiculous looking Tank Man (Head mostly), and the Boba Fett wannabe....The Barbarian version is the
best looking one, but even for a concept and once prototype, I had no use for any of the versions, but had I the money, I would consider owning the Barbarian version, but with
    the issues, he'd stay MISB.

I agree about Cringer. He was an essential character to me. In almost every episode. Prince Adams right hand cat and he deserves a fully articulated figure. As it stands now, I doubt we will ever see him done properly. I think he could honestly take a monthly slot. Oh well.

    The Birds of MOTUC

Zoar (Sorceress version), Zoar: The Fighting Falcon, Screech, Glory Bird, and Zoar (Temple of Darkness version) are filling the #95 spot since they are all basically the same bird and sculpt, just repainted, with Glory bird receiving a separate, attachable unique headdress and stand. At first, I was very happy that they were going to be properly “in-scale,” but after owning them and displaying them for a while, I started to feel disappointed that they weren’t a little bigger and more imposing—no, not vintage-scale bigger, but a little bigger would have been nice. I think that would add to the playability and “wow” factor. They are lacking in that department. Though, the fact that the wings are movable and the birds do nevertheless have respectable paint jobs and sculpts is definitely a plus.

    These are for the birds!

I'm no fan of them either, even in Classics they just stand there, and all you can move is their wings....whoopee. I mean I know they are technically accessories, but they could have been new molds, and been able to be made to look like they were perching as well.

And they aren't even MOTUC sculpts to top it all off.

I really dig glory bird, only bc of the unique accessories and stand. The attached plume really adds something to her(him?).

So you like the birds and Cringer better than Kronis, BG Evil Lynn, Wun-Dar, Hurricane Hordak, TOD Sorceress, The Goddess, Snake MAA, Tank Top, Space Ace, and Captain Glen?

Uh, ok. Wanna share the kool-aid you've been drinking? Just kidding. Different strokes for different folks.

When I learned that MOTUC had Cringer in the lineup, I was very pleased. He's an essential character that the vintage line never had...Battle Cat without the armor looked too ferocious to count. While being virtually unposeable, it didn't bug me too much. The only other poses that I would've liked for him is either sleeping or cowering with his paws covering his face. Otherwise, the figurine that came with Queen Marlena is pretty much what I wanted to see. My only gripe is that I would've liked him to be a bit bigger. Still, just look at his face...It's Cringer!

I often forget about the MOTUC falcons, they're usually perched in the background. I also tend to look at them more as accessories than characters. The main one I feel is essential is Zoar and I'm glad they made one in the Filmation colors. The original one that came with Teela was replaced and I don't do much with the TOD version. Screech was a cool bonus and Glorybird looks neat, though. The removable vintage armor was a cool touch, too. A perched falcon would be nice but I'm happy enough with the ones we got. They look better in flight mode and the scale is perfect, IMO. It always looked weird to me that the vintage falcons were bigger than a figure!

All I prefer is the Zoar that came with Sorceress, and even then, I see them as accessories as well, not much different than Tri-Klops' Doom Seeker. I never cared for the Vintage birds either. And I would have preferred them to be posable enough to be in flight or to be perched.

I like this thread! amazing pictures. Anyway I would put Snout Spout as my least favorite! I agree about the birds at this point they are annoying to me. As for Cringer I believe the one we get is a baby or young version of him, that is why it is small. But I would love an articulated Cringer one that could hide himself as in the cartoon

I originally had a problem with Cringer because he wasn't articulated. I thought it was rather cheap of Mattel to make a PVC out of him. I thought a super articulated Cringer would lend parts to Catra's cat form.

Nowadays, I'm largely indifferent to Cringer since the line has more limited resources. I wouldn't call Cringer a "figure". More like an accessory.

    Castle Grayskull Weapons Rack

It’s not as cool as a figure (a good one!), but it is a nicely detailed piece that puts the vintage rack to shame. I love the updates to this – the better detailed paint job, the sturdier plastic, and the fact that it is double-sided for more weapon storage. I feel this diorama piece frequently gets wrongfully overlooked when it in fact serves as great backdrop for the figures and perfectly complements a MOTUC Castle Grayskull.

Now that's a nice rack you got there!

    Nice rack indeed Rockin....

I like Cringer, but just because I have wanted him for 30ish years. I love the birds too. But, once again, I agree with all of your picks. When compared to the figures, they lack a great deal. The birds could have been a tad bigger, but scale-wise they fit pretty well.....kind of dull...but they fit. Cringer....geez I wish they would have made him like a mini-Battle Cat. I too think Cringer could benefit from a monthly slot. Rockin you have inspired me to start my own list, just to see how it stacks up to yours....my least favorite is Jewelstar however. Just a terrible figure.....but I think Tallstar is very nice. I really appreciate your efforts with this. This thread is one of the most fun threads I have seen lately.

    Thunder-Punch He-Man

This is another figure that’s main appeal in the vintage line was its action feature. Like with most Classics figures, that action figure is not present. Thus, there just isn’t much left to this He-Man variant besides new armor, a shield, an attachable punch “effect,” and a bit of a different paint job. With that stated, those new editions are indeed very cool, particularly that vac-metal shield and the nicely detailed backpack that opens up to store a mock-cap. But that’s where the coolness ends. What is more, the most peculiar design choice is the figure’s paler skin tone. I’m not really sure why the decision was made to make He-Man look like he hasn’t left indoors in quite a while. It just brings the figure down even further.

    Sucka punch!

These are great reviews. I would put Goddess way higher up, despite her defectiveness, if only because I think she's a fecking cool figure regardless. But these are great.

    Keep them coming!
