    1. Rising International Shipping Costs & Lack of Willingness to Address this by Toy Guru (Brand & Product Questions Only!)
    2. Poor Quality Control & Lack of Accountability at Mattel When Problems are Identified
    3. Rising Cost of Labour and Materials
    4. Fan Rudeness and In Fighting on the Internet
    5. Digital River Incompetence

    1. Cost of making the figure becomes too high.
    2. Cost of shipping figure to customer becomes too high.
    3. Quality of figure becomes too low
    4. Too many unknown or d-list figures being produced
    5. Too many cutbacks or broken promises on future releases

These are the 5 I feel that most fans will cease purchasing the line due to. Sad that some fans are quitting right now due to some of these taking place to them
Making sure the vintage line is fully reproduced in the classics line

I'd say the biggest threat is Mattel itself, its corporate culture and shady business practices, and its careless self-complacency and lack of faith in their MotU property.

Just look at how they wrecked the 200X line, or more recently, at their basically zero advertising to support the MotUC line (even during last summer's sub drama: it was the fans that did everything to spread the word and save the line, while Mattel sat back in their chairs sending threats) and at how they've ruined the Castle Grayskull project (now more like Cottage Grayskull) with their shameless corner-cutting.

DR, and everything it entails, is there because Mattel is simply too greedy to pay for a decent service.

Not many new customers coming in
Older customers leaving once their child hood fantasies are realized

Stepping back unknown characters shouldn't matter as long as they are well designed and people like them, the problem is too many don't care anything about that stuff and just wanted updated versions of figures they had as kids. This isn't to say all new characters are great, but I take one look at Draegoman and see a great figure.

This is definitely one of them.

Rising costs and poor overall customer service are others.

    only one

    Old age.

Seriously. The fanbase fought through every problem, ignored every dealbreaker... Struggled through every behind the scenes incompetence imaginable.

We got there though. Yeah with Ram Man we have arrived.

Gotta say...this is pretty spot on. Toss in rises in cost for materials and shipping and we have a healthy 1-3. Like button, KK!
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

1.) cost (either shipping or figure cost)
2.) loss of interest (majority of core figures already release)
3.) lack of new customers (by only targeting collectors of the original line the customer base will only dwindle as the line goes on)
4.) digital river ( I haven't encountered anything too bad but from what I hear on the forums it's enough to cause anyone one customer with numerous problems to quit.)
5.) Quality control (although it is a small run people are still entitled to what they paid for. Broken figures, incorrectly assembled figures, horrible paint apps can only be tolerated too far before people give up entirely)

So far I'm happy with the figures I've received and haven't had any issues outside the original king grayskull breaking. I hope the line can continue beyond a,b,c and d list figures.

Forgive my ignorance but how is that the Fan actions can kill the line? What I mean is: have you quit collecting motuc because of other fans opinions? I don't mean to be critic to some of your opinions but I really do not see the connection.

For me 1-5 is only one thing the price of the figures+shipping

Probably because people complain a lot about prices, etc., so Mattel decides to only make enough figures for subscribers and/or forget about the line, because they can just put their money to the lines that make the big bucks.

I'm not sure if the line is dying quite yet, but I know it's taken some hits. I don't even think there are 5 big reasons for it to go Ker-Plunk. The main thing that could kill it is rising costs.

MOTU fans are some of the most loyal, die hard fans I have ever seen, but no matter how much they may love it, there's a limit to how much some people can pay.
