Shouldn't She-Ra Technically be called "He-Ra"?

If the name 'He-Man' comes from the Sword of He, and She-Ra's power comes from the same power source, why isn't she called 'He-Ra'?

Or maybe her sword should be the Sword of She?

She actually originally was going to be called that I think but they changed it.

Not if you pronounce it "Hera", like the Queen of the Greek Gods.

I think they went with the right name. Scott just needs to explain how He-Ro's other weapon was the Staff of 'She', which is Trollan for protection.

yep she was going to be named He-Ra after Hera from Greek Mythology, but the name was copyrighted.

But, I guess She-Ra reads and sounds more feminine than either of those names.

Actually, given that He-Man's sister was birthed by Mattel marketing in order to sell to girls, the feminine "She-Ra" is correct. Let's see how Scott works that into the bios!

I really don't like the bios. I barely read them and when I do, I forget them anyway. Never liked the "Sword of He". It's the Sword of Power and the Sword of Honor as far as I'm concerned.

wait a moment! Nocturna is a guy? Are you kidding?

I don't know much about NA I heard about him/her in RGD. Scott said that he was far away in the roadmap. Anyway he should be Nocturno

there's plenty of male names that end with "a". even in MOTU, we have Melaktha.

Yes sure! It is the fact that you don't know a character and you start to imagine things. It is the same with Mantenna. It could be a woman but we all know who Mantenna is so we can't imagine him to be a woman.
Going to the main topic. We have a lot of characters with names ending in "man" but how many women in motu universe end in "ra"?
I was thinking that if the sword of He was the sword of He-Ro may be the sword was split in two. HE man has one part and She RA (instead of RO) has the other

I have the same justification in my head. "He" is trollan for power, and "She" is trollan for protection. Now that I write that out, I guess that could have some weird gender-based issues. Maybe that's not the best message to send.

Yeah. Nocturnos or Nocturnak would sound better.

Wow, I like this idea a lot. So He-Ro represented Power and Protection, and maybe He means Power and Ro means Protection. Ro became Ra when Adora got the sword of protection, so we have HE-Man and She-RA. It fits better if you think that the stone of protection in She-Ra's sword came from He-Ro's spellstone.

Wel personally I'm going with He-Ro's staff being melted down to make the Sword of Protection (I use the gold sword as the offical look for it) - of course with the Spellstone being used in the center of the sword. It can access the Power of Grayskull, but it in no way makes her the same as He-Man. Of course that's just my story. No cloning of the sword; just a different one from the same guy that the Sword of He came from.
