Which way up does the Castle Grayskull Flag go?

I looked through the forums and couldn't find anything, so forgive me if this has been discussed before.
Im not asking if it's Good or Evil but which way up should the sticker be?

All my life I thought it was hilt to the top. I tried a Google Image search and found a lot of original promo pics/magazine ads follow this way and by the looks of it, all the kids in the 80s did it this way too.
Even the artist of the Ladybird book agrees:

However, the original box art for CG and the new Classics Grayskull have it hilt down:

Have we been wrong all these years? Is there any official word?

Because there is the sun and clouds in the background, it makes (to my eyes) more sense that Swords are pointed up. Just like He-Man points it towards the heavens.
