    classic webstor figure climbs, how?

When i got my webstor toy as a kid, his rope was loose and i just stuck it through the backpack. I've never managed to get him to climb up his rope.
I just noticed looking at the packaging art where it says something like " pull gently on the string to make him climb up"???
Does anyone know if there's a proper way to loop the string mechanism to make him actually climb up by pulling on the string?
I can't find any threads that discuss this.

I had the same problem with the Webstor figure I had as a kid. I'm glad someone found a way to fix it.

Webstors were infamous in my area for being over-complicated and impossible to use right.

Ohh, I can feel a review thread coming on!

I guess I got lucky. Mine works fine, just had to pull a couple little knots out of the string.

I don't know how you can fix it without taking it apart. BTW I like your Avatar, can you send me the full size picture of it?

Of course! PM me you email and I'll send you the avatar file. Any pointers for taking the Webstor backpack apart without damaging it?

Not sure why my post was locked when this one doesn't address my issue. That's why the search was not my friend. So I'll ask again

Anyone know how to get the string case apart with it cracking or breaking?

You have to take a chance. It might break when you do it. The glue it old and should give way pretty easy, but it's not a guarantee that it won't break.

So decide, is it broken enough to risk it, if not, don't take the risk.

Take a hammer and a small flat screw driver, put the tip of the screwdriver in the seam, tap it lightly. (Do it from the bottom since it may cause some tool marks)

    CrackopenWebstorBackpack2012.jpg

Then twist the screwdriver to split the housing apart.

Any chance someone can do this on video? The walk through is a great gesture but it totally confuses me.

I always had a special place in my heart for Webstor, since he was the only figure I was ever bought as new - all my others came second-hand. So Webstor was the only one I ever got to open the box of.

That being said, I never had any idea he could climb by himself until I read this thread today.... obviously far too complex for my four-year-old brain!
