    Answers to WTFWTK 2.98!

Mattel has once again provided answers to your questions.
Thanks again to them for taking the time to answer these!
Check out their answers to your Round 98 questions!

This round of questions were selected by Barbecue17.
Thanks to that fan for their help!

    1. Barbecue17: Since we have been told that the new road map is for the majority of vintage characters to be released by the end of 2015 and we are told that most figures take over a year to plan, does this mean that the majority of remaining vintage MOTU figures have at least been discussed as to how their unique features (Rio Blasts's guns, Blast Attack's splitting) might be approached in Classics?

No. What it means is a majority of figures are names on paper. Discussions about the logics of translating them into toys happens down the road.

    2. dagodfather: Now that the focus for 2014-2015 is on vintage and important animated characters, does someone like Eldor fall into that category or is he considered a post-2015 character?

Eldor is still a figure we would like to get to. Whether he shows up before 2015 is yet to be announced, but he is more of a priority for example compared to Too Tall Hoove.

    3. grenadaspice: When asked if Castle Grayskull will be able to fit figures properly on the floors without them being too cramped in between the different floors, you have stated that there is enough room to fit the 6" figures. However, fans have been saying for years that these figures are 7". I finally decided to measure my He-Man figure with a 12 inch ruler and He-Man is just under 7" (more like 6.9"). Then you have a figure like Teela who is definintely taller than most MOTUC figures. Why is it to this day that you still consider the MOTUC figures as being only 6" tall and how can we be sure that will be enough head room in this 6" Castle Grayskull playset for figures that are a smidget under 7" tall?

To set the record straight, we are well aware the actual height of MOTUC figs is above 6" inches. Just as the actual height of a Ghostbuster movie figure is a little less than 6". But they are both 6" scale lines. MOTUC is deliberately a little bigger so that MOTU figures feel bulkier vs. a standard 6" fig (and Movie Figs like GB or MOS are a little smaller vs. a standard 6" fig to accurately portray the actor's heights.). But they are all 6" scale lines.

    4. facet: I have racked my brains over these three characters from the list provided by Mattel for the Castle Grayskull box art but could not find them anywhere. Who are these characters: Fang-or, Golden rod, Snow thief?

They are all on page 2-3 of the third 2012 mini comic. Fang-or is behind Sqqueeze, Golden Rod is in front of Gygor and Snow Thief is behind Mosquitor.

    5. wundarwarrior: Is Dare going to change similar to Adam in the 200X era, meaning from a small teen to a huge adult? Or will he be further along in age and build, more like the vintage Adam? I would really like to see a design for him as well, especially from this unseen bible you possess.

You will just need to wait and see if we get to a Dare figure!

Seems the way he answered the question about Dare sounds like he's coming. Also nice to know where we can find our mystery figures!

So he is basically saying if superman and he-man were real and stood side by side they figures would be in scale... that is... disappointing.

    So...

GOLDEN ROD looks a bit like a Golden Roboto and is possibly a Horde Memeber....

FANG-OR looks to be a Snake Man, and is green...

and SNOW-THIEF is a grey MossMan type character (but is he the same character that was recently named SNNNAARRLLLL by ToyGuru? Perhaps one is his real name?

Mattel clearly doesn't understand that making a figure 6" tall is not the same as making a 6" SCALE figure.

Peter Venkman and Marlena Glenn are NOT in scale with one another.

    - - - Updated - - -

Oh, and since Bill Murray and the other GB actors are all at least 6 feet tall, making their figs below 6" does not portray their height correctly. Not if they are supposed to be 6" scale.

HAHAHAHA He went quickly into self-defense mode on that one! All he wanted to do was "set the record straight" that he's aware of the actual height, and missed the actual question concerning head room inside the castle. haha

I'm so glad to know that the Ghostbusters figures I didn't buy will have plenty of headroom inside Castle Grayskull.
Still remembers we paid excessive shipping on Battleground Teela. Is confident Matty will resolve the issue and make it right for us.

Something is messed up here Missle Toe

FANG-OR is this character Fang-or.jpg, thank goodness, the snakemen a hurting for new recruits and one of the things that annoyed me about the 30th anniversary line was that none of the designers thought to use this opportunity to fill out the snake men ranks and create a character.

GOLDEN ROD and SNOW-THIEF are somewhere in this mix of people golden rod and Snow thief.jpg Now this is what TG says

"They are all on page 2-3 of the third 2012 mini comic. Fang-or is behind Sqqueeze, Golden Rod is in front of Gygor and Snow Thief is behind Mosquitor "

Now looking at this picture the 2 characters (possibly Golden Rod) in front of Gygor are the Great Black Wizard and just above him is a guy holding a sword, hes not colored in and my best assumption is that prominent characters in this comic would be colored in, the next 2 in front would be Evilseed and Snarllll, but there I don't think he would be misleading us with giving a real name and an allias as clues to new characters, way too confusing for introductions into new characters. So my best guess is the guy with the sword, just don't like that there really is no detail to him at all, yet they are giving him a name.

In Regards to Snowthief, he is behind Mosquitor, now really the character that is behind Mosquitor is once again the Great Black Wizard, but behind him is that Roboto looking guy, if that i who he is talking about, the better answer is he is the guy underneath Gygor or behind the Great Black Wizard, and once again he is more or less an outline of character, and he got a name, shouldnt they have at less colored him in order to show he has a little more prominence over the countless other visages there in the background, I mean as i go thru this picture, we have weed out and nickpick all the little pics in order just to get a names out of this, yet they appear in none of the media, it frustrates me to no end. Just dont name them or make them unique if nothing is going to be done to make them develop character background on these guys. Anyway that's my anaylsis of the answer to this question. Thoughts?

This is the way I read it:

    Scott
...ladies and gentlemen of this supposed fandom, I have one final thing I want you to consider. Ladies and gentlemen, this is Grizzlor. Grizzlor is a creature from the planet Jungulia. But Grizzlor lives on the planet Etheria. Now think about it; that does not make sense!

    grenadaspice
Dang it! ... He's using the Grizzlor defense!

    Scott
Why would a Jungulian, an 8-foot-tall monster, want to live on Etheria, with a bunch of 2-foot-tall Twiggets? That does not make sense! But more important, you have to ask yourself: What does this have to do with this question? Nothing. Ladies and gentlemen, it has nothing to do with this question! It does not make sense! Look at me. I'm a brand manager defending a major playset, and I'm talkin' about Grizzlor! Does that make sense? Ladies and gentlemen, I am not making any sense! None of this makes sense! And so you have to remember, when you're in that room deliberatin' and conjugatin' the Emancipation Proclamation, does it make sense? No! Ladies and gentlemen of this supposed fandom, it does not make sense! If Grizzlor lives on Etheria, the figures must fit! The defense rests.
