How about Moss Man and Count Marzo (eventhough it is his 200x look) still a character that appeared in the vintage Filmation toon. Also the Eternian Palace Guards and Granamyr.

If you're thinking of getting Clamp Champ, might i mention Scareglow? Fantastic figure all round IMO. Also as mentioned Moss Man, Sy-Klone and Panthor are a must-haves too if going by the 80's cartoon.

N.B. ~ I know they weren't in the cartoon but Battle Armour He-Man & Battle Armour Skeletor are (IMO) worthy as well.

Many Filmation figures may suit your collection quite fine. I'd add Batros and Icer at least.
Great trade orgers: Son of Keldor - sdilks -JeMaBo2 x3 - Kowl - Bigassbuzz (Hyveofvillany) - Queen Marlena - mikescab

Forgot to add Mossman and the Palace Guards as they were sitting on the lower shelf of my display case.

I have subbed to the Filmation Club. So those 3 figures will be added as well.

Well, the core will always be the original 8 figures; He-Man, Man-At-Arms, Teela, Stratos, Zodac, Mer-Man, Beast Man, and Skeletor. In addition, Battle Cat, Man-E-Faces, Ram Man, Evil-Lyn, Trapjaw, and Triklops are typically considered core.

Now, Filmation folks might add in a couple more, like Orko, Sorceress, Clawful, Whiplash, Webster, and Kobra Khan.

Then you have She-Ra, which opens up a bunch more. So, it's better to just say; get what appeals to you. With these great figures, you really can't go wrong.

Don't forget Battle Cat. He-Man isn't complete without him.

Couldn't agree more Battle cat is very important.

I agree that 7 of the 8 original figures are among the core. Zodac is not core. Being among the first does not automatically make him among the core characters.

    Update:
Almost there. I'm down to Teela.

    So far:
    Heroes

    King Grayskull
    The Goddess
    He-man
    MAA
    Stratos
    Ram Man
    Zodak

    Villains

    Skeletor
    Beast Man
    Merman
    Triclops
    Trapjaw
    Battleground Evil Lynn

    The Horde:
    Hordak
    Keldor
    Leech
    Grizzlor
    Catra

    Wants/needs:
    Battle Cat
    Panthor
    Teela
Sorceress (maybe, tho Goddess is a good replacement in my own personal mythos)
    Two Bad
    Mosquitor
    Mantena
    Modulok
    Horde Trooper
    Demoman
    Vikor
    Faceless One

I'm never going to afford Teela or Sorceress unless they do a reissue. I was lucky getting Rammy, but I only got the loose figure, no ax or unhelmeted head.
I've always loved Two Bad. I mean c'mon! You can't have an army of monsters with out a guy with 2 heads!
The horde has always been a favorite too, just because the characters were so cool and diverse.
Demoman, and Vikor I'd like to get because of the history behind the two.
    Faceless just looks cool.

    These would be my essentials:

    He-Man
    Man-At-Arms
    Stratos
    Teela
    Ram Man
    Orko & Adam
    Battle Cat

    Skeletor
    Beast Man
    Mer-Man
    Trap Jaw
    Evil-Lyn
    Tri-Klops
    Panthor

Bascially every character who appeared in the MOTU pilot episode...with the exception of Sorceress, Randor and Marlena.

I mostly agree with your choices, but I'm not sure why you'd take out Sorceress.

I wanted to have the same number of heroes and evil guys and she was released almost at the end of the line of the 80s. But you are right, she may be there.

What do you guys think about Faker? Do you consider him essential? I decided no to buy him, but I'm not sure if was a good decision.

Faker was one I was always sad I didn't get as a kid....he was basically featured twice in Filmation, although not blue either time, but he was called Faker in The Skeletor created Episode....and although not a robot I don't believe in that one, his name was Faker. The MAA created episode was a robot, but he was never actually called anything but He-Man.

I however wish they used him more later in his blue tone in Filmation....but they never did, but it never stopped my desire to own him, and once I found out there was a Classics version....I immediately jumped on it. My friend had the Vintage Faker when we were kids, and I played with him every time I went over, when my Mom looked for him, he was always sold out, or never available.

    I personally consider him essential.
