Realistically, how long does every one see Classics continuing for?

Obviously we know it's only if people sub up, but each year the sub numbers have been getting lower and lower.

I do however think 2014 will sell more than 2013. I think that because of 2014-15 being All-Star years and aims to wrap up MOTU and POP and key characters from Filmation and NA. No-one's going to want to miss that.

And then in 2016? I think it will continue but fewer releases that it's previous.

So, how long do YOU think Classics will go on for? Do you think this is it and we won't get a 2014?

I'm hoping for a full 2014 and 2015, and then a reduced 2016 and beyond. Realistically, I think we can swing 2014 still, but 2015 is iffy. Hopefully a movie could be announced for a 2015 release to keep the Classics ride going for that long. If I were to say what realistically is the longest possible lifespan for the line, I'd say it could go into 2017 but that's about it, unless something really injected some lifeblood into the MOTU brand to keep it going beyond that.

2014 and 2015 in full. I'm guessing MOTUC continues until about 2017, and will just be a few exclusive figures. Mattel can and should milk as much from us as possible. Given all the molds available by that point, there is still money to be made, at a low risk.

I hope I'm wrong, and we're talking 2020 (a perfect vision for MOTUC)

    2017 is my guess.

2014 will comfortably make it. 2015 will be closer, but might be the first year it doesn't make the minimum. If there is anything in 2016, I think it will be the non-sub, bi monthly thing that has been bandied about.

Agree with the general concensus that 2014 will easily make it, I think 2015 will go through too due to enough heavy hitters being left.
After that I'm not sure, 2016 may be a reduced sub or some kind of specialist sub like another filmation sub or 6 month NA sub that will have to meet a minimum requirement.
But I also think we will see exclusives like SDCC or con items or random one offs.

Forever I hope! But realistically I see it lasting for about 3 to 4 years max. Theres just not enough core characters to keep the line going it seems, but I will definitely be in it til the end. Cant wait for the Spector variation sub

I don't know. I want it to last long enough to get POP toy line variants.

2015 will probably be the last full year with figures every month, then we might see a few a year around conventions if anything interesting is even left. I actually think a movie could be the end of MotUC as Mattel would be keen to do

Eventually the line will end. Ideally it'd be when we get every figure from the vintage line(s) and all of the supplemental characters from the different media. I don't see that happening. We're lucky if we push past 2015.

I think 2014 will be safe for sure, 2015 will need something like Snake Mountain and some really cool figures that ARE still FAN demanded. 2015 like 2016 and maybe 2017 will only work if Fans are LISTENED too. Things like Oo'LAR and 200x styled King Hsss and other figures of this magnitude will be needed from 2015 going forward untill 2017. Mattel will have to tackle things like Snake Mountain, playsets and vehicles and take the risk, if they wanna keep everything going. It was a risk to do this line to start with and futher risks will be needed to keep this line going strong until 2017.Mattel and Matty cannot afford to get lazy with the line and I think in far future, reduced figures and playsets, vehicles and comics will be essential and a cartoon and movie will help for sure. Im 100% in what i say here and any less iI truley beleive will impact badly on the line, what with rising prices and various issues that have been with the line from the start. If this can been somehow navigated and overseen by "good" people we still have a great few years ahead! Just listen to the fans!

In my mind, after 2014 (if it really is as big as promised), then the majority of tooling will be done. I would bet that they could make a few years of figures with just minimal new components. Look at the filmation sub this year... basic buck reuse, and there are a ton of characters possible. This could help keep costs down as subscribers continue to dwindle. I could see hitting maybe 2017 this way, but it would be a lineup for the diehards. I doubt there would be any day of sale for most of the figures. I doubt there would be anymore vehicles or play sets (possibly some weapon packs, especially if they can just reuse molds).

I think it will go solid for 2 more years...2014 and 2015, obviously. After that, I think it will continue, but drop back to maybe 6 to 8 figures a year. I don't see it dying off completely quite yet.

I feel like 2014 will be the last full year, with 2015 seeing only 6 figures or so released.

I think 2014 will be a go. 2015 depends on 2014, but I think we'll at least see some figures in 2015, if not a full sub. 2016 it will come to a close.

I think it needs some life injected in to it, if you look at marvel legends, the first Cap America was great, very cool multiple POA , but later versions of him got better, more detailed sculpts, ect,...

Well at this point the same thing needs to happen with MOTUCs, Regardless of weather we have all the old variants or not,
There needs to be a redo of classic He-man & maybe Skeletor, it wouldn't have to be brand new sculpts of body parts, but new heads ( filmation, alcala, classic toy,) multiple interchangeable hands ( sword aloft, fists, classic open left toy hand, as well as regular grip hands ) new take on the weapons ( more streamline power sword, filmation power sword, toy accurate shield and axe ) also maybe a new upper body more densely muscular with a thicker back ( profile ) more like the classic toy,
This I know would take a slot for a new guy, but tell me, is there anyone who wouldn't buy one ???
I know I would, probable multiples,

It works, it's good business, it's a Iron man upgrade , people need to be reminded who the lines about .

I think there will be an uptick in the sub numbers from 2013 to 2014, but 2015 will be a hike. If the line makes it to 2016, they will have to make some major changes that year. Chef Allen and such won't cut it. I think they will have to start re-doing the A and B-listers which haven't been done in a few years. If they don't do that, 2016 won't make it as a sub and they'll just release a few one-offs that year. Without going back to the main characters, the line will be dead before the end of 2016.

The truth is Ram-Man was the last A-list character.

At some point they won't be able to count on the exact same customers as they had in 2009. The line has to begin again.

If we have as promised a revamped A-B list character year in 2014 then that is a sure thing. 2015 maybe/maybe not. It would have to have some good ones in it, because basically after the POP fans get what they want and we get our Two-Bad, Ninjor, Rio-Blast, Modulock, and a few others, basically the NA fans or the die-hards who buy everything won't be enough to sustain the line. But it may be better by then to just start offering a bi-monthly slot rather than a full subscription. Personally there are just a few left I care about to bother subbing. At least care about to spend 37 dollars on per figure.

I think 2015 will be the end. The sub will have the last of the vintage MOTU and possibly the last of the vintage PoP (which will be done in the way all the rest are, Filmation style with nods to the toys and probably won't include variants like Shower Power Catra). I think we'll still see Eldor and probably Evil Robot and that will be it for the prototype, concept characters. I think 2016 may have a SDCC exclusive and maybe a couple other one offs.

I see 2015 or 2016 being the last year as a full fledged 12-18 figure subscription. Mainly because we will have most of the figures out by then and will be reaching for more obscure characters

But I could see it going on potentially another 5-10 years with 6 figures a year or even 4 figures a year.

It will be around as long as Mattel is making enough money to justify it, selling it online only drastically reduces the amount needed since you are completely cutting out the middle man known as Walmart/Target/Kmart,etc that burdens retail lines

But when it goes I won't shed a tear, any fan who cannot step back and realize how incredible the line has been and just how it has eclipsed pretty much every other line in male toy existence is not being honest with themselves.

I agree with everything you have said here, but I will still be really sad when it is all over!! Collecting this line has been incredibly fun and I never ever want it to end......

I also agree with others that have mentioned a movie injecting some new life into this line. It couldnt hurt

You know what might work for 2016? Move things FORWARD. Create new characters like the old line did, good ones like Draego-Man and Demo-Man, not Mighty Spector rubbish. Include mini-comics with them. Probably a new faction or two. They should imagine what they would do if they had a new season of a TV show to work with and simply move the story forward. Give us a new He-Man, new Skeletor, revamps of a couple of other long out of print A-listers, and then 6-8 new kick-bottom characters. When the A, B, and C lists are complete, maybe people will be ready?

I can see 2014 and 2015 being full years. After that things might slow down.
