    Custom MOTUC: LODAR

Well I goofed, I had totally spaced out a bit back due to being slammed with custom figure commissions when I made this custom MOTUC figure for myself and I "COMPLETELY" forgot to post the images of him for everyone to see.

    So my bad...

For those who do not remember Lodar, he appeared in the mini-comic Slave City. Here is a cover shot of that mini-comic as well as an internal panel showing him fighting He-Man.

    Cover image

    Panel shots

Here is the test shot of him from his WIP build showing that the random parts required for the build...

He was made from parts from 5 different existing classics figures, and some sculpey.

...and here is my painted and final classics update of the mini-comic character Lodar.

I look forward to any and all feedback.

Very cool figure, a fitting tribute to the comic.

It's funny that Lodar was originally supposed to be Zodac. His character developed much differently.

Love the character from minicomic and your execution is beautiful.
The only thing I thing that doesn't fit in well for MOTUC figure is that string on the plate, which in my opinion should be sculpted (since we are talking about line with sculpted capes, nets, long hair and everything else).

Normally I would agree 110%. But Lodar's paint apps were so 2 toned and plain looking overall, that he DESPERATELY needed the cloth rope added in to just provide a little touch of detail to his armor.
Even with my metallic highlights to the armor... it still needed ...something more to be on par with the other classics figures... so the cloth rope helped alot to add one last lil touch of personality to the figure.

Nice work all around. The mask turned out particularly well. (Glad you found a use for those Randor tights.)

One question, how did you attach the shoulder armor to the chest armor? Can he move his arms upward at the shoulder?

That is just the beast man shoulders with the underside cut out an sanded down a lil then smoothed. I then simply crazy glued them in place an painted it up.

He can raise his arms upward somewhat, as the shoulders snake as the beast man shoulder parts do give alot more than normal without the inside bracing/armband mount section that the armbands are mounted to. But you have to be careful as the beast man shoulders are a harder plastic.
I mounted them this way as it looked more visually accurate. I hate to say it but when/if we get an official lodar. I do expect him to just have the shoulders done via Beastman, an the same fashion.. as arm armor just slid up really high on the arm.

Very cool! Your recipe is perfect! I love the pre-painted picture. I never really noticed how his shoulder pads are pretty much exactly Beast Man's. Perfect!
