Cool figure, shame about the bio. Like always. The last line really ought to be "Clamp Champ surprises Snake Man-At-Arms with his stabbing action!"

Also, regarding the "He continued to lead the Masters of the Universe all the way to the Second Ultimate Battleground," the wording does indicate Clamp Champ leads. It is peculiar, but who would have thought of Clamp Champ and Jitsu leading their perspective sides.

However, without He-Man and She-Ra present, Man-At-Arms (Ducan) always appeared to be the second-in-command. If Clamp Champ is the new Man-At-Arms, perhaps he assumed all the command authority as Randor's new right hand.
In MYP, He-Man didn't have a rank. He was some really powerful guy who happened to show up whenever there was trouble. He was the MVP, but he wasn't the leader, presumably because he wasn't around (i.e., could be reached regularly, had a military record, etc.). Duncan was the official leader of the Masters. Now in Vintage canon, there was less of a military structure and He-Man was the leader.

I would have liked a mention of the super senses too.

Just saw the other "careful what you wish for" comment, lol ... Not trying to insult, just figured Mantenna would be THE figure to tick everyone off if there was no DOS

At this point in the line I think Mattel should be all sub only. So in my eyes, having any DOS at all, they're being much nicer than I ever would be.

That's really lame. The only time a figure is not sold "day of" appears to be when they are selling a subscription. Which is what happened with Fang Man during the initial Filmation sub sale and again with the sword sneak peak when they reopened the subscriptions.

It has nothing to do with low sales, and everything to do with scare tactics. He's not even trying to be subtle about it.

The bio is terrible. It says nothing about the character himself (like his super senses, or how he became the royal bodyguard). Instead, it goes into the lame plotline from the mini-comic. And doesn't even go into any details of that. Plus, Clamp Champ isn't a weapons specialist. He's a champion athlete. Scott doesn't know this character at all.

In MYP, Duncan was kind of the leader, in a way. I can see his successor following in that path.
I like the bio, but if he only leads them up until the second ultimate battleground, what happened after?

Absolutely no surprise that he's not DOS. Completely transparent move to scare people into subscribing...but I won't bite.

    Here is his bio...

Clamp Champ - Heroic Master of Capture
    Real Name: Raenius

After Duncan was captured and permanently turned into a Snake Man, Raenius, former Body Guard to King Randor, stepped in as the new royal Man-At-Arms. Although lacking Duncan's skills as an inventor, Raenius proved his worth in the Masters of the Universe with his ferocious hand-to-hand combat and extensive knowledge of almost every weapon, including his favorite, the techno clamp, for which he earned the nickname "Clamp Champ". He continued to lead the Masters of the Universe all the way to the Second Ultimate Battleground. Clamp Champ surprises his enemies with his clamping action.

Or the very least make the damn visor separate like Dawg's so she could have had a face.

I also agree. I always thought Clamp Champ's super senses were a key component to defining more of who he was and the importance of his abilities.

You mean, it can get worse? LOL.

IF 2014 is all heavy hitters like they say, this hopefully won't be a problem, and those that are selective with their monthly purchases will want all in.

I agree. Which proves my point that Scott doesn't know the character, or bothered to learn anything about him when writing the bio.

But you forget one thing....there are those figures that many people will want two of....and then, they will have absolutely no way to acquire a second without buying a second $500+ sub, or buying one for an ungodly amount elsewhere. It's too much to buy a second sub just for a few figures you may want doubles of. I'm not buying a second sub, then spending my time every month trying to sell the ones I don't want doubles of....no DOS at all is stupid as hell.

I wanted a second Fang Man, thought I'd be able to get one DOS, and thought hey, BBTS has him still for PO....then boom, no DOS, and up, up and away went his ass....sorry, I don't need a second that bad to pay over retail for him before he was even released.

I encourage folks to email the hierarchy at Mattel about this if they want results.

CC is a classic, vintage character and deserves better than this.

If Nietlich is curious as to why so many people are abandoning this line altogether, it is because of crap like this. I know a TON of people dropped subscriptions after the Ram Man drelease date, and I know that the mid-year subscription opportunity was a panic move by Mattel to get people on board with worthless crap like the FFM and Karatti. Because so many of us have outrigt rejected Mattel's behaviors, this sudden "lack" of a vintage figure stinks of some sick, twisted revenge tactic on us for daring to refuse most of the unwanted crap foistef on us this year.

I didn't know about the athlete thing (is that a UK comic origin?). Maybe the weapons master part comes from the MYP plans from season three?

Honestly I didn't even know he had super senses. That does make him more appealing and interesting/unique. The visual aspect of the character has always appealed to me anyway. But the bios seem to favor some characters way more than others, POP's are basically useless and they could be great. The vintage wave that included Clamp Champ deserve some really good bios, they're practically a blank slate in some ways, having very little media tied to them. It's a missed opportunity to really expand the mythos and interweave those characters...

So if Clamp Champ was a royal body guard...is he the black guy palace guard?

I am on the fence about this figure. His protoype face looked better, IMO...i also thought he had a grayish tint to his hair and now it looks more black.
I really hope that its just the lighting in the pic and it dosent look like he was oil wrestling!
Ill have to wait and see if im going to trade this guy or keep him.
A big part of me wants to keep him as hes the only main character guy whose black...i like some diversity in skin tones i think it more accurate to real life and makes for a more visually interesting display.

I'm surprised his bio doesn't mention the cold blooded (hehe) slaying of MAA. He didn't step up...he stabbed his way to the top. I didn't know he had super powers either....kinda makes it worse.

As far as DOS goes, I think it's bizarre to have a vintage character not have DOS but if it sells subs, then whatever. He'll be early access next year. Fang Man probably will be too. I'm still waiting till SDCC to sub though. I have to know for sure what's coming before I commit.

Well, if there had to be a vintage figure with no DOS stock, this is really a good choice. As much as I want Clamp Champ, I can't imagine that he is really in that high of a demand in comparison to many of the other figures that are yet to be produced.

Yeah, Clamp Champ has super senses, he ends up catching one of Ninjor's arrows in the Search for Keldor if I recall correctly, boasting about his super senses. I agree that if they had to use a vintage figure that isn't DOS, Clamp Champ is one of the better candidates, it's not like he's in that holy 12-back that so many seem to put on a pedestal.

Be careful what you wish for because Clamp Champ isn't the last figure in 2013 that will have no day of sale.
