This is such a strange mystery, will there ever been a true answer?
The video is not working.

I had to look at the source code to figure out where the video was from.
Go to this site: http://www.fuzzymemories.tv ...and then search for "Cracker Jack"
Now that would be an awesome moniker.![]()

i got a Savage He-Man for $150. is that a good score? he was sans accessories but he stands and he only has a little wear on his feet.
LOOKING for these MOTU Full Cardbacks:
-Skeletor w/"original" promo on front
-Man E Faces w/ "extra weapons" promo on front
-Trap Jaw w/o Ring Promo on front & newer figures pictured on back
-Tri Klops w/o Ring Promo on front & newer figures pictured on back
& Mantisaur Empty Box (USA) Version
I've seen them go for a lot higher than that, but I got mine last month for $55 and it included two weapons. It's frustrating sometimes trying to decide on what's a "good" price when the value fluctuates so wildly.
Comet Cat is another example. I got mine a few weeks ago for 8.00 shipped simply because the seller didn't know what he was selling. He had it listed as a "Tranformer type tiger toy". But I know people that have paid a lot more for it in a sorrier shape than mine is in.

did you find that $55 one on ebay or off ebay? I got mine on ebay. a couple years ago i got one for like $90 but i included it when i sold off a complete MOTU collection. I've seen them for for over $200 or over $300 at times. I've lately been trying to replace the one i had for a decent price but i could never tell what was a decent price. some guy is selling 11 of them at a time for about $300 a piece when you break it down. Both i got on ebay wasn't listed with keywords "wonderbread" or "savage"

I'm curious as to what you guys think of a certain collection of Savage He-Men that are for sale on a certain website that claims to include "a copy of the coupon used for this promotion back in the '80s."
Could this person unknowingly hold the key to a mystery many thought would never be solved or is this "coupon" bogus and the seller knows exactly what they are doing by shamelessly trying to sweeten the deal?

Odds are he had no accessories anyway, so you did good with the purchase.
So many of these have popped up over the years in bulk lot auctions so keep a diligent eye open. He's rare but not super rare.
I doubt it, since no coupon has yet to surface that actually promotes this figure in any way.
What if Savage He-Man was somehow tied to the Human Buzz-Off figure that never happened? After Mattel changed-up Buzz-Off to his iconic look, maybe they wanted to keep the dark-haired He-Man concept/head and include him and Buzz-Off in a 2-Pack...but then they abandoned the idea...but not before making a few figures.![]()
I got mine on Ebay the same way, it wasn't listed as "Wonderbread" or "Savage", just as "He-Man". The seller didn't know it was a variant, and didn't list it as such. I checked the photos until I was satisfied that it was a genuine Brownie and then got into a bidding war with one other guy that arrived at the same conclusion.
It's probably the same coupon that's been floating around with the Barbie promotion and Man-E-Faces on it. It's been pretty much discounted as having anything to do with Savage He-Man, but there are still a few unscrupulous sellers that are trying to pass it off as being a genuine promo for the figure.

At this point, the lack of any documents or advertising for this figure leads me to believe it may have been an in-store promotion / give-away. Other than that, it is still really hard to speculate since we really have very little to go on this many years later.
the contest ended feb of 81 i figured if it was a first run promo it might of gotten sent out since mattel was running Motu ads in 81 (confirmed by commercials found online)but like i said before I was just trying to establish a connection between Mattel and a major food company not neccesarily the figure i also found mention of a sweepstakes with the intro of the comic and other media tie ins but if the figure was produced in 82 its in a wierd info void because i cant find much about Mattel, Motu, and mail order promotions in that year even though that was the debut ***update Borden foods was a major supplier to A&P so the two ideas might have a common thread with both being under the same roof.

I like to call him the "Cosmic He-Man"! He's more interesting to me as a space hopping cosmic adventurer! He's got that cool armor and ray gun, you don't see space barbarians everyday! Maybe it's the Kirby in me but I find that really appealing!![]()

Not sure if I am posting a picture correctly, but my buddy just got this, and I am looking to you all to authenticate. Wish the picture was better. This is all he has sent me right now.
The AOL link isn't working. You might want to try starting a free account at photobucket or flickr, upload the pic there and then use the embed code they provide to post the pic here. Hope that helps.![]()
simply upload to imageshack, it's free and you don't need to register.
Btw i'm not an advertising bot![]()

Sorry, waited for him to send me a better picture. I believe it to be authentic. I see the figure is from 1981. I see the gap in the shorts. Doesn't seem to be painted.
What are your thoughts? For what it is worth, he bought the figure in Wisconsin. I grew up there, and until I started selling on ebay in the late 90's, I had never heard of the wonder bread or savage He Man. My brother and I had a lot, and if it were a mail in that was done in our area I would have done it. I did all the star wars ones, and did a lot with wonder bread baseball cards. My father in law also owns a grocery store with I now manage, and in talking with him, and our wonderbread rep, who we have had since the mid 80's, they both don't remember any of that. However they remember the baseball cards that used to come with them, and several of the cereal box mail ins, as he also has a son that was born in 1980.
All these years later and this mystery is still so frustrating.
One thing that has remained pretty consistent since this thread has started, is that the discoveries and original owners/sellers are all from the eastern half of the United States. The latest discoveries in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania and Maryland gel with this pattern. As I said in an earlier post, I believe there was only one report coming from the western half of the U.S., but I supposed that can be our 'margin of error'.
If you look at a map of the U.S. and follow the line down from the left-hand side of Minnesota to Louisiana, there's nothing but that one report to the left of the line. There's also some states to the right of the line that haven't been documented yet. Heaviest concentrations appear to be in a few of the mid-atlantic states, some of the southern most New England states and some of the states in the midwest.
If you isolate the half of the U.S. that I'm referring to, the discoveries/original owners would be mostly in the north-eastern segment (or top half) if you drew a line diagonally from Minnesota to Florida.
