150th Anniversary of the Battle of Gettysburg.

We should not forget that today is the 150th anniversary of the first day of the Battle of Gettysburg, fought 1st July 1863.

It is always terribly sad when war tears a country apart; but I think it only right and proper to remember the sacrifice of so many brave men on both sides in a war of brother against brother.

Rest in Peace, Blue and Gray alike.

what they saw must have been truly horrific. And the wounded who survived must have also seen truly horrific things in the "hospitals" back then.

It was a sad day for our country, but, in retrospect, we've existed for more than 200 years and only had one such major internal conflict like that. Given the upheavals we are seeing with increasing regularity these days, that's not a particularly bad record. We've spent FAR more time united as a country than we have at war with each other.
