MOTUC, Ghostbusters, DCU at Mattel outlet store

I just got back from the San Bernardino, CA Mattel outlet and found a ton of Ghostbusters, DCU and about 50 Hurricane Hordaks. The lady I asked said they had many other different MOTUC, but they all sold out quickly. THe Hordaks were only $5.49 though!! The Ghostbusters were $4.99!

    Here are some Pics.

Judging by what's been reported at Big Lots and this, it looks like they just had excess stock of certain characters. Still, I find it very irresponsible to pull this crud during sub sales.

I'm actually relieved to be 3000 miles away from a store like that.

I'm not happy about being so far away but I bet my wife would be! I would have to leave her at home, there just wouldn't be enough room in the car for both of us....

The El Segundo store at their headquarters looks similar, but prices were double that (so still about half of their original prices). But they just had tons of Carnivus and some Marzos. They also had a lot of Tytus and some Megators, and the Mo-Larr sets. A few Star Sisters were there a couple weeks ago but are gone now.

Also lots of DCUC, JLU and Young Justice, and Ghostbusters, 6" and 12" singles, and their price ratios were similar to MOTUC, but I was there last on Monday, so maybe they've dropped since then.

I'm lucky. My wife is very cool about my collecting. She even endured a couple of stops at Big Lots on our 3 1/2 hour drive (each way) to the beach last week. I don't want to say 'enabler' (even though she is absolutely an enabler ).

Ok. So I can see how an overstock of MOTUC from a secondary seller could get liquidated to Big Lots. But this is a Mattel outlet. What exactly is the justification for not having these $5 Hurricane Hordaks available on Mattycollector?

How does Scott justify to Mattel that MOTUC is worth continuing if they are losing money on quite a few of these characters?

The real steal was that they were selling a ton of 2010 "comic con exclusive" talking Peter Venkman green chase variants for only $4.99. Naturally I just couldn't resist picking up a few.

TG should offer "FREE figure promotions" like in the original line. I have seen vintage ads "If you buy 3 figures, 1 free Randor". Ill buy them in order to have carded figures or bucks for customizing.

Wow! I'd go crazy getting some of those JLU figures and some Classics.

ALL toylines have their pegwarmers. And this was when Classics made too many figures.

We're not seeing non-variant Vintage characters or major POP characters (She-Ra, Catra, Bow). Heck, I don't think we even see Slushhead and he's regarded as one of the top NA designs.

We are seeing Catra. Some of the Big Lots have had Catra in stock.

This is disappointing. I am missing a lot of those figures that were sold at Big Lots and also Hurricane Hordak. I was really hoping, that I had the chance to buy some of them during the next Matty sale, but it seems most of them are gone for good. And I guess Leech won't be available like they told us a few months ago...
I mean why on earth can't they offer the rest of their Hurricane Hordaks on Matty Collector at this price? I believe he would be sold out within minutes for 5,49$

Digital River. I would assume the cost to put them through Matty's own collector site would be cost prohibitive.

It's even worse for the people biting on the newly listed Hurricane Hordaks on ebay at $49.95 apiece from the seller in Los Angeles.

I don't see a problem with them doing this at all, in fat it shows why the subs are so important. With the subs, the have less issues with storage and money loss from product that doesn't sell.

Because then those $5 Hordaks become $17 Hordaks with the shipping cost, and frankly, Hurricane Hordak isn't even worth that price.
