Interesting that ToyGuru mentioned ZILLORA was going to soon be referenced in an upcoming bio ... based on the fact that the only filmation character with any connection to her was Fangman, and he's already been released...

I hope that she is mentioned in The Unnamed One's bio, so we can see that she has some connection to the origin of the Snake Men...

I appreciate my question being asked, but this is where the left hand doesn't know what the right hand is doing. I did actually contact customer service about combining my SDCC Early Access items because of that day's glitch, and was told that it was NOT possible for them to do so. And they didn't offer any further assistance or any sort of shipping discount for having to purchase Rock Warriors and the Mini-Masters separately. So maybe ToyGuru could speak with the folks in the customer service department and straighten that out?

Whether you invest your money into a hobby such as cars, motorcycles, RC cars, model trains, coin collecting, or even porn; it is still budgeting for recreation or entertainment. We toy collectors are doing the same thing on a smaller scale....slightly smaller for some of us. It is only the perception that it shouldnt be for adults that makes it nonsense to you. This is what we get into and keeps us entertained, so it makes perfect sense.
What I was more likely getting at is to expect all fans have an extra grand laying around is absurd to me. Then to throw your hands up in the air and say c'mon why arent you guys subscribing, is someone vastly out of touch with reality. Prices have risen 30% and my salary has risen 0%. In 5 years they have never supported a collector with a smaller budget. Maybe, when they use to call them Cherry Pickers, but from some reason its a crime now to not to be able to afford a subscription.

In my world...a $700 + Toy collection budget for a grown man with life and family priorities doesn't even make sense.
He is just about begging. I would be. He wants the line to succeed. I think "not punishing" Mattel was more to say we as fans are actually punishing ourselves. I think he meant that working on the Hotwheels (or whatever the mentioned brands were) brand was worse that working on Matty. He enjoys He-Man for sure, and wouldn't want to be working on anything else. Not trying to get on you about those points, and maybe he is just an arse, idunno him personally. But the more I hear him, the more I feel like he's just a dood doing his job.

Also, ~58 Doallars a month for a Hobby is cheap for many, many adults. The price of my daughters daycare is 1350.00 a month! 58 dollars is like a nice surprise that one of my bills is so tiny. My family is my priority, and that 58 dollars isn't taken away from them. I pay the bills, feed the family, save some away, enjoy life with my friends and family, and then, hey, there's enough left over for a couple toys every month. Sweet!

Now if you mean 700.00 a month for a budget! Yeah, that's getting up there. For toys anyway. Some people have mad cash though.

Luckily many folks wouldn't. Sagitar might be a popular NA character, but in general NA fans are smaller in number compared to Filmation and POP fans combined that want Razz
    10 figures I'd like: 10/Filmation Tung Lashor, 9/Saurod, 8/Perfuma (for completeness of POP ONLY!), 7/Sprag, Sprocker and Spritina, 6/Peekablue, 5/Hunga the Harpy, 4/Sssqueeze, 3/Filmation Clawful, 2/Dylamug, 1/Queen Angella.

Man, I hope that Madame Razz gets offered as some sort of pack-in. Either that, or a Loo-Kee, Madame Razz, Broom and Filmation Kowl set for the price of a standard figure, so we get all those little dudes out of the way at once.
No way we'd get Madame Razz, Broom, Loo-Kee and Kowl for $25! Best we can hope is that they are one of the $38 quarterly items

All the talk of Madame Razz being unique tooling made me think she's a prime candidate for a possible POP add-on sub. Such a thing would have a separate budget, I'd think, and her new tooling would just have to balanced out with other figures that didn't need so much new tooling. I can see Broom and Madame Razz together going for the usual price of a figure.

Loo-Kee could come with someone else. Maybe he could be one of those "bonus accessories" that doesn't even have to do with the person he comes with?

And for the record, I'm a HUGE NA fan... but I think the Madame should come first. I definitely want Sagitar though.

I'm not so sure a 6 figure POP sub could support a 100% new tool. Sea Hawk had new parts, but he wasn't 100% new parts like Madame Razz is. Nah I think she needs the main subs support to get made for sure.

There's no hard and fast rule, though. One could have easily said the same thing about the sub figure at one point. "I don't think the sub figure can support a new tool. It needs to be something with lots of parts re-use." The along comes the UnNamed One! It all depends on the budget allotted to it and the case made for it.

If you take Madame out of the main sub, it's no longer a choice of making her or some other unique figure that needs unique tooling. If you can swing it, you maximize your tooling dollars for the year. I guess she could make a good SDCC item, too. But I don't think you should discount the possibility of her appearing in a possible POP sub off-hand.

We'll see! As long as she gets made.

Shadow Weaver was almost a completely new tool in 2012, so it didn't shock me to hear that this year's membership exclusive figure was pretty much the same thing.

I am a bit disappointed that Mattel won't give us any indication or hint/teaser about the Unnamed One, though. That would be a ZERO COST way for them to further promote subscription sales and they just won't do it. I'm not saying that it would totally save the line and bring the sub sales up to 100% or anything, but it does make me think that revealing the figure would do more to hurt sub sales than help if they're still keeping it a secret at this point.

The main sub is more cost effective to support MORE new tools because of the amount of skus that help pay for those unique tools. Scott said as much on the latest RGD. They can do around 3 unique tools per year as the other stuff in the subs pays for them. So the Unnamed One is a mute point since he's part of the main sub and NOT an add on sub. It will always come down to cost/profit at the end of the day.

The 5 other figures in a POP sub would need to pay for Madame Razz and sales would also need to be high to make it viable. The Filmation sub was likely only viable because it had NO 100% newly tooled figures. POP would be the same I think. I'd be very surprised if Madame Razz was part of an add on sub and it went through with enough sales to support her.

I was told NO by customer service about combining my Mini masters and comet warrior two pack.

Even though I had to order them separately due to glitches on mattycollector.com, they told me it was impossible and would not be done for me or anyone.

Just finished it and I'm so pumped for the next 2 years and beyond.

However, I'm gonna have to say G.I. Joe Retaliation was not terrible. Eamon was crazy hard on it but i thought it was miles ahead of the original. Personally John Chu is not my favorite director, yet he will add enough to the MOTU movie up make it recognizable. Examples from Retaliation include Cobra Commander's perfect costume, Firefly's urban camo and mask, the H.I.SS., Roadblock shooting a .50 cal, and the A.W.E. Striker. We have to hope for the best but prepare for the worst. I'm just thinking that Chu will include familiar aspects from MOTU to keep it in line with the previous incarnations.

Me either, of course. I was just saying at one point we would have thought that. Stuff changes, basically. Since we are on the outside, it's all guesses and supposing.

...Fun and informative as always! I'm happy for the Razz-Fans that she's definitely planned. Personally, I never could stand her, but that's just me! I found her to be less useful and more annoying than the Twiggets, Filmation Orko AND the purple folks. But I totally get she's important and essential to the POP line-up... And I'd be fine with buying her too! As long as the rest of 2014 and 2015 includes some of my off the wall faves like Lord Masque, Prahvus, Evilseed, Lodar, Calix, Lizard-Man, Ninjor, and such, I'll be happy! Actually, I'll be happy as long as the line keeps going, period!

Great podcast as always. The Madame Razz confirmation was just the best news of the day. I am so excited for her and hope she is in 2014.

I love the idea that a possible '16 SDCC item could be a NA multipack. A 3 pack of Kayo, Nocturna and Vizor would be great because, individually, I can't see them going over very well for anybody except the hardcore NA crowd. But when you add the niche exclusivity of it, it becomes more sought after. It would be a great way to get them out to us.

Exactly...this is what really annoys me. Scott states on RGD that he believes revealing the Unnamed One would increase sub sales. YET, with the line supposedly in danger, he refuses to show the figure.

Why would he NOT show it if he truly wants the line to go through? Is it an ego thing? I mean, he can't seriously be putting his "surprise figure" idea before the success of the line? Doing so would not only be selfish, but stupid. If he has something that he believes would increase sub sales, he should reveal it. Especially with 6 days left and the current sales being at 63%.

We are doing all we can to save the line...why isn't he???

If the subs don't succeed, and he had something in his pocket the whole time that could have boosted sales, then he only has himself to blame for the failure. And it will be something he will hear from customers and fans for a long time. Who knows what could have happened, had he ditched his initial idea for the greater good of MOTUC.

As I haven't seen (or remember) a lot of NA episodes cannot argue about the importance of Sagittar (though I think it's not comparable to Randor or The Sorceress while Mara might be), so I'll suppose that comparisson is right.

Ok, let's change the example. Who would be considered a priority: The Sorceress because of her relevance or Zodac (who did nothing really interesting in the cartoon) because he was one of the original figures? That's my point. I would go first after the 8 card-back ones, though that is just an opinion. The same way, I would prefer getting those I mentioned before, despite the fact that characters like Insyzor were cooler or the ones like Master Sebrian were more important.

I think this is why G.I. Joe 2 was seen as "good". It was better than Rise of Cobra and more recognizable.

He's confident the sub will go through without having to reveal anything. If you listened to the podcast you know Scott refuses to even entertain the idea that this line will fail.

I agree, I liked it. I also really liked Man of Steel. Sure, the ending is controversial but not unprecedented, and I liked the boldness of it. I think it sets up well for the upcoming Superman/Batman movie.

Here are notes from this episode. A must read!:

*** MADAM RAZZ is in 2014 or 2015!!!
    * Plenty of fan-demanded secondary accessories will be included with 2014 and 2015 figures that don't necessarily relate to the figures they are included with. "You are going to see a LOT of that. LOT. LOT." - Toyguru
*** Loo-Kee is "absolutely part of the 2014/2015 road map!
*** Development for 2014 figures have been suspended due to low sub sales (tooling, etc)!!! No additional figures are being made (including Blade, Scorpia) until sub sale period ends.
    * He-Man/She-Ra fans who wait until the end before subscribing "
    * Character election for next two years is locked in.
    * With enough sub sales in 2014 (~130%) we may get an addon sub (could be Filmation, NA, or a PoP addon sub) with 6 more figure slots.
    * Toyguru is on vacation during remainder of the sub sale period. Will be coming back on last day of the sale.
    * Both heads packaged with Unnamed One are intended for that character.
    * Cross-sell poster (including every figure released so far) still being worked on (will include bio) to be shipped with Castle Grayskull.
    * Alternate Faker head (battle damage, angry) not "off the table."
    * Characters not included in the new road map and will have to wait until 2016 or beyond: Songster, Scrollos, Prince Keldor and Prince Randor from opening scene in 200x cartoon, Mask of Power Demons, Red Beast.
    * Meteorbs are not off the table, but are less important than Twistoid, Rotar. Possible rock-form accessory as a nod?
    * Toyguru: Even after the line ends, Mattel will probably offer 6-inch figures at conventions (at least once a year?)
    * If one subscription failed, Mattel would give subscribers the option of a 24 hour window to switch over to the other subscription (DCUC to MOTUC or vise versa).
    * Initial reveals for 2014 selected to represent PoP, vintage MOTU, NA, Mini Comics.
    * Toyguru: Sagitar is "on the fringe" because of 100% tooling. "He's not off the table, is a beast slot, but is difficult when you have him competing with Madam Razz & Broom".
    * About twice as many Castle Grayskull playsets were sold than was needed for it to move forward.
    * Sub sales: "We're definitely down from last year even though the big issues from last year don't exist now."
    * Smaller sub could be offered if sub doesn't go forward. Toyguru: "...but I don't want to do that! I want to sell this sub!"
