    Answers to WTFWTK 2.108!

Mattel has once again provided answers to your questions.
Thanks again to them for taking the time to answer these!
Check out their answers to your Round 108 questions!

This round of questions were selected by Orko's Magic Hat.
Thanks to that fan for their help!

    1. King Tamusk: The Spirit of Hordak "Chase figure" appears to have been very successful and is still in high demand. Now that 2014 has been approved and you are planning additional items outside of the sub, are you considering a new chase figure in 2014? If so, any hints?

That remains to be seen, but yes the Hordak Spirit figure has been very popular!

    2. Jeevesosiris: After the scrapping of the roadmap, and now leaving us with a likely smaller pool of characters still to come, have any of the bios for upcoming characters been changed so that you can still tell the whole story you had planned for the MOTUC cannon?

We are always making tiny adjustments, but for the most part the bulk of the story is now out there, especially with the mini comics connecting a lot of dots. Let us know if there are any particular plot threads that fans feel unresolved and we can certainly review to see if they can be summed up before 2015 ends if possible!

    3. Sailosaurus: You started hollowing out the heads last year when production costs had gone up, but you haven't gone back to the solid heads yet. This makes the figures feel cheap and fragile. Can you please go back to solid heads?

We'll certainly pass this along to design.

    4. Orko’s Magic Hat: Will we ever find out why Teela wears the same snake armor as The Goddess and why she carries the Staff of Ka?

Hopefully in time. Keep reading the bios and mini comics, or see question 3 above!

    5. Forcehunter: Please clarify a statement that was made earlier. In the Roast Gooble Dinner, Toyguru had mentioned that the Horde trooper pack will see a higher production run. Without going into specifics can you at least state whether the production will be higher than the first few releases of the line back in 2008 before you based production on subscriptions?

The first few releases in 2008 were some of the lowest runs of the entire line (if that helps)

... the Hordak Spirit figure has been very popular!
Yeah... there's nothing to back this up, really. But I guess this answer means that UNFORTUNATELY, there will be more "chase figures" to come...

Other than that, we can feel that we're waiting for new reveals : the answers we get are pretty empty...

The Spirit of Hordak figure may have been popular and in high demand. I'm not sure the way it was sold was quite as popular.

... what on Earth does Question #3 (hollow heads) have to do with the background of Teela's Snake Armor?!?

These were some odd answers. I think we finally drove TG to drink on the job.
Classics TGR figures should be Filmation-based, but they NEED MORE COWBELL!

of course he ment question 2. Of course from laughing he-man heads, you're probably being sarcastic.

Personally I am very hopeful that we get a transluscent green He-Man like the Spirit of Hordak that will be the Slime Pit He-man Really just do the subtle paint apps like on Spirit of Hordak, with perhaps red eyes in heman, & the chesty symbol in red...could really get away with basically that, or some other light apps.

Heck, we could already use the green He-Man weapons comming in the new pack, which I am hopeful indicates this is prescisely what they plan to do.

I wouldnt mind a clear green axe & sheild & Sword mind you, but since the weapons pack alreadyhas solid, well...

Or, of course they could use this "Supprise figure" thing to release variant paint schemes some people have wanted in the TRU 2 Pack, like Green Trapjaw, or Flesh Stratos. Of course what makes the supprise figure doable may be the lite paint apps, so maybe the Clear thing is what is a must.

So basically, I am glad Spirit of Hordak was well recieved, and boy do I hope Slime Pit He-Man is next.

Rest of the questions I wasnt really invested in, though a story about that snake armour would be cool, but I am hardly holding my breath.

Glad that they gave my question a fairly full answer. I really love the cannon they have set out so am hopeful we can get things all tied up by the end of 2015. So... what questions are left unanswered folks?

people can always think of questions, but my main thing is to have it all fleshed out. Not so much specific questions but just stories told in new cartoons, or comics, ect.

I think alot of it is vauge so we can "fill in the blanks" with our imagination, as in childhood, which suits me just fine.

Exactly. The bios are not meant to tell the fully detailed story the way an HBO series would. (as if MOTU was GOT for example). The bios are topnline details. Series like Filmation, 200X and your own imagination fill in the rest.

Look at the first mini comic. The first line is "much has happened since the defeat of serpos" ( or something like that, I don't have it on me). That line supposes to the reader that all of 200X, for the most part, has occurred in the bios/mini comic story.

If their are burning specifics like "how did Teela get the staff of Ka" that fans want to know, sure let us know! But as noted, the bulk of the "bio story" is really out there now.

But some cool details are coming...

They didn't start hollowing the heads until this year and I didn't notice it before the Foe Men....

And it's not noticeable except on Castaspella where her chin is hollow and you look at her head from below.
    Recent....Eldor
    Coming....Arrow, Tung Lashor & Bow
    Wanted....
    Considering....
    Needed....Dragstor

Oh man, did I forget to use these [sarcasm][/sarcasm] again? Sorry....

I, for one, had no idea that recent heads had been hollowed and were any different than previously made heads. So I suppose it's another non-issue to me since I didn't notice it. It never ceases to amaze me how in-depth some people are with looking over their figures. I miss a lot of things others point out.

What do you mean there is nothing to back this up? The countless threads of people demanding they need it in the collection. The scrambling to buy it when it pops up, the ebay sales, the trading in the forums. Where have you been?

I wouldn't mind a Slime Pit He-Man as a chase figure either, but he shouldn't be translucent. The slime covered him, it didn't make him see through. And, rather than just He-Man in green plastic, I would hope they'd actually make him look like he is dripping in slime, which would need new tooling perhaps.

I also wouldn't mind Crystal Man-At-Arms. He'd be great to display with Granamyr.

Invisible Glimmer would be cool too.

But, if they really wanted to go all out, I'd like King Miro. He slipped in and out of Despondos too, and we need to finish the royal family.

I agree, a lot of people were aggravated about the initial idea. But it seems that he has been offered enough times now where most collectors have been able to buy him. And, another EA sale is being offered at the end of the year. So, while you may not have had the chance to get him right away, eventually you can get him. Just like Strobo, or Temple of Darkness Sorceress, or the SDCC exclusives.

On the topic of further "chase" figures, let me chime in and say "YES!" to any/all of these:
    -Crystal MAA
    -Invisible Glimmer
    -Slime Pit He-Man
    -Pink Sorceress
    -Pink Teela
    -Red Beast Man
    -Mini-Comic/caucasian Stratos
    -"Shadowy Shadow Weaver

And I would LOVE more fleshing out of the Bio-Canon...(My in-laws just arrived, so I'll try to chime in with specifics later...)
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

MOTU as a Game of Thrones style HBO series...

I just want to let that thought linger a minute.

I think we all have our own individual questions that may be unanswered, but for the most part as you said Scott, the story is out there and for the most part I have really enjoyed the cannon that has been created.

    4. Orko’s Magic Hat: Will we ever find out why Teela wears the same snake armor as The Goddess and why she carries the Staff of Ka?

There is only one answer to this that interests me and that is vintage mini-comics canon where the Goddess' life energies are cloned into baby Teela by Skeletor (not the clone of Teela'na the Sorceress of Grayskull).

The Goddess made whole (merged with Teela) glows green from the power infusion, also when she is casting spells. The Goddess without Teela is caucasian. Also, given their bond, Teela sometimes chooses to wear the snake armor in homage to the Goddess.

I'm not much interested in any other bio-canon interpretation.

More chase figures will be a FORTUNATE thing in my opinion.

I will take more MOTUC figures anyway Mattel will release them!

Slime Pit He-Man would be a cool variant. As would Leo Faker or Kamo Khan. Pink Sorceress or Pink Teela would be awesome ... though I do still long for a pink mother-daughter 2-pak. Red Beast-Man or grey (movie) Man-At-Arms.

Green mini-comic Trap Jaw is a much wanted figure, but I'd rather see him come with a new mini-comic accurate headsculpt and boxier (as opposed to rounded) laser canon.

Love all of these ideas--^ But especially Slime Pit He-man. We 'NEED' this... well, and a Slime Pit playset to accompany perhaps down the road.

I would certainly count myself in the camp that "loves Spirit of Hordak but hates chase figures". Any of the ideas suggested would get my money, but no more chase figures please.
Top 5 most wanted MOTUC figures: Lord Masque / Saurod / Mult-Bot / Angella / Sssqueeze

Happily invading Castle Grayskull with hippos is my true hobby.

Spirit of Hordak was a nice surprise in that it was made, not the way it was sold!
Get over that marketing idea (just to increase hits on a site especially now that you've lost Ghostbusters, Voltron and Soon Watchmen / DC sales) and realize you can sell more if you just put it out there instead of sabotaging your Collector market and burning all potential sales. As you don't make nothing off the secondary market why would you let them benefit from it more than yourself????
'Tis the wind and nothing more.....
