I'm happy now that Adora stayed on Etheria with her friends

I used to be sad that Adora didn't go back home to Eternia to live with her family. I didn't think about the situation from the point of view of how her friends on Etheria might feel about her leaving (ie. their sense of loss and sadness).

I live in Los Angeles and have known a girl for over 10 years and now she's moving back home to San Francisco to live with her parents. I feel devastated, depressed, and alone. I'm in mourning. Friendship means something to me now. I realize now that friends are important.

Now I hope Adora will live on Etheria forever with her friends. I'm glad the show ended before She-ra freed Etheria from the Horde and moved back home to Eternia. I did want to see her with her family but now I don't because of what has happened to me in my life, losing a friend to moving away back home to her family.

Adora's friends were so lucky to have her present in their daily lives, and I was so lucky to have my friend in my day-to-day life, being able to see her every week and talk to her in person, face-to-face. That cannot be replaced. Visits, e-mail, phone conversations, texting just don't cut it. A friend close by is better than family far away. I will no longer be relevant in her life. The friends she makes where she's going to live, that's going to be what matters to her now. That's just life.

What a difference life experiences make in how we view things .

I think both family and friends are important. Adora has the opportunity to visit her brother and parents in Eternia anytime, and they can go to Etheria for a stay with Adora and her awesome friends. There are so many ways of keeping contact!

I'm glad you have a new understanding for Adora's staying on Etheria...I just hate you had to experience a sense of loss to see a new perspective. I truly hope your heart heals from this separation from your friend and that you can still keep in touch! Take care!

I'm torn really. Her "friends" on Etheria didn't even really know her other than she was a member of the Horde for so many years that battled against them. I mean, I know it was toyline based and stuff to make a girls line, but if it were real life, I would think Adora would be made to stand trial and face prison time to pay for her past evil. Ha, I know i'm getting way too deep here. However, on Eternia, she was the Princess and was and would be welcomed back regardless. It did show the kids of the day a valuable lesson I suppose...and she did want to make up for her past wrongs against them. I wonder how long it really would have taken for the Rebels to embrace/trust her?....?...? Think about it. It would be like a bank robber saying "ok, I robbed your bank, but now I want to come be your branch manager to make up for my sins". Or, someone kidnapping someone then going back to them later and saying "well I know I kidnapped you and all but now I want to come work for you so I can make up for kidnapping you".

As a kid, you don't really think about it. As an adult I do. Ha, best left to childish imaginations I guess.

No, not best left to childish imaginations. Some Filmation episodes (particularly the ones by Larry DiTillio) did explore deeply meaningful ethical questions such as this to some extent, but most of the vintage media stories were intended as mere "light entertainment" for kids. Whereas what you talk about, or what the OP talked about, are exactly the kind of questions that a new or updated canon meant for an adult collector audience should have addressed and dealt with, instead of a teenager-like focus on shallow, immature porno-gore.

Well, I don't think she needs to pay for her crimes or be put on trial. She was under a spell, thus not in control of her own actions.

I agree that the rebellion was not really her friends when she decided to stay. I believe she felt the need to stay and help them overthrow the Horde since she helped, even unwillingly, to enslave the planet. And now the rebels had a former insider on their side!

That was their great advantage. Adora knew every corner of the Fright Zone.

Adora spent most of her life training in the Fright Zone, leaving her little time to see the rest of Etheria. Before He-Man encouraged her to see for herself how the Horde ruled Etheria, she was unaware of the evil, cruelty, and injustices committed by the Horde. So it is unlikely she is committed any crimes to be put on trial for.

Excellent point, she really may not have done much at all directly to the public.

One of the few times we see Adora as Force Captain is in "Into Etheria" where she supervises the Force Squad as they arrest the citizens of Thaymor for harboring the Rebels who humiliated three Horde Troopers.

Catra and Leech commiserate that Adora is not qualified to be Force Captain and that she is only in the role because she is Hordak's favorite.

And when He-Man, Bow, and Glimmer arrive, she seems reluctant to get her hands dirty, and directs the Force Squad to attack them.

If this is representative of her time with the Horde, then she really did not do much at all.

I was also sad to see her stay on Etheria.. But i got some great memories for her staying there so.. i can't complain!

I think maybe Razz'strust in Adora lead most of the others to TRULY trust her. Everyone loved and trusted Razz... and she was more than wise enough to eventually see Adora's true potential... (But that's just me. Razz was like their Grandma to me! Hahaha) Also, Adora always did look out of place in the Horde. Catra was a much better force captain.

In my work, there is no Etheria, so no separation, and no 'Sierra - King's Quest'-like baby snatching either.

    ..but maybe that's just me.?

If Adora left Etheria to move back to Eternia and she didn't give me her contact information (eg. e-mail or phone number), would she still be considered my friend.

Let's say she said 'hi' whenever I saw her at Starbucks. And we talked to each other in a friendly way. And I walked back with her to the animal hospital where she used to work every week.

Sure we didn't have much in common. But I really liked her and she was nice to me.

Could I still hold out hope that I'll see or hear from her again. I gave her my phone number and e-mail address. Can I still call her my friend. Are we friends? Were we ever friends?

I'm not sure what makes two people friends. And does what I had with this Adora meet the criteria (ie. threshold) to constitute and qualify as a real, true friend?

I can't answer this question for you. Each person has their own criteria for friendship. For me, I consider a person a friend when I can look at them, see them at their worst and still like them. Personally, I would see this "Adora" as an acquaintance. You knew her well enough that you talked some and she was comfortable enough with you walking her to her place of business. The thing is just because you left the ball in her court doesn't mean the game isn't still going on or that you two were the only people playing. Go out with other friends...Have some fun! Take care

Rhea is right. Enjoy your life instead of thinking of a person that doesn't care about your feelings for her. Time will make sure you'll get over this girl, believe me!

Thank you Queen Grayskull and Rhea.

I miss her so much and I feel lost.

I'm not going to try to figure out what happened or if she ever cared about me at all.

Just because she didn't give me her contact information doesn't mean she necessarily did not care anything about me, I don't think. People have all sorts of reasons why they don't want someone(s) to be able to get in contact with them.

I'm not going try to predict if I will ever see or hear from her again.

I'll never know if I could have done anything differently to bring about the outcome I wanted.

Sometimes in life things just end, and we don't know why. And we can't always find an explanation because maybe there is none.

Try to calm down, dura_grip. It doesn't make sense to think of a person who probably already has forgotten you. Try to continue enjoying your life and don't let this negative experience dominate your thoughts!

If I believe and think positively, can I draw this Adora back into my life.

    "By the Power of Grayskull!"

    "I have the power!"

It would be cool if that was possible.
But I'm sure you'll manage the pretty difficult situation you're in at present soon - all the best for that!

I've never had anyone stay in my life. At the time it felt like we were friends, we even referred to each other as friends. But every one of them is no longer in my life. I don't know what real friendship is. What is the definition of friendship? Is it all in our heads, does it exist in our minds? Can I call Adora of Etheria my friend even though she's a fictional character? Can I still consider the Adora at Starbucks, who I'll probably never see or hear from again, my friend, even though she didn't give me her contact information. The term 'friend' is thrown around so much, and very loosely I might add, that I don't know what the true criteria is for friendship.

Can someone help me out here?

Sidenote: I've only really wanted to be friends with girls that I found really attractive. They are the ones I'm referring to above when I say
    that
they have all rejected me, left me. I'm not sure if that's important. That's just what I'm looking for in a friend. Is that wrong? It
makes me feel good and excited to be around a gorgeous female, like Adora or Teela'na. Seeing them adds spice to my life, gives me
something to look forward to------a reason to get out of bed in the morning.
