    John Erwin television appearance

I've recently seen Melandy Britt and Alan Oppenheimer at an interview and was wondering if John Erwin had been interviewed regarding MOTU recently. Both Melandy and Alan remarked that John was shy to make an interview, but I still wanted to put a face to the voice of He-man. That got me searching back to his days working on Rawhide and I found this video that shows him (I think) talking to Clint Eastwood in the opening scene. Better early than never!

How do you like that, hero!

This thread should be called 'RawHide is awesome'.

Too bad those youtube episodes cut off the tittles/credits..!!??

"Rolln' rolln' rolln', rolln' rolln' rolln'..
Keep movin' movin' movin', though their disapprove'n, keep them doggies movin'. RawHide!
Don't try to understand 'em, just rope, throw and brand 'em, soon we'll be live'n high and wide.
My heart's calculate'n, my true love will be waiting, be wait'n at the end of my ride.
Move 'em on, head 'em up, head 'em up, move 'em on, move 'em on, head 'em up. RawHide!
Let 'em out, ride 'em in, ride 'em in, let 'em out, cut 'em out, ride 'em in. RawHide!
Rolln' rolln' rolln', rolln' rolln' rolln', rolln' rolln' rolln'. RawHide!!!!!!!!!!!! RawHide!!!!!!!!!!"

"Rolln' rolln' rolln', rolln' rolln' rolln'...
Keep rolln' rolln' rolln', though the streams are swollen, keep them doggies rolln'. RawHide!
Through rain and wind and weather, hell bend for leather, wish'n my girl was by my side.
All the things I'm missing, good vittles, love and kiss'n, are waiting at the end of my ride.
Move 'em on, head 'em up, head 'em up, move 'em on, move 'em on, head 'em up. RawHide!
Ride 'em out, ride 'em in, ride 'em in, let 'em out, cut 'em out, ride 'em in. RawHide!
Rolln' rolln' rolln', rolln' rolln' rolln', rolln' rolln' rolln'. Heeyaaah!!!!!!!!!! Heeyaaah!!!!!!!!!!

You know these days they get a lot of famous people to do voices in animation.
Imagine if they had really tried to get some of the stars and guest stars from RawHide to do voices on the Masters of the Universe show back then.
Imagine Clint Eastwood or Leslie Nelson or Deforest Kelly in some helpful role.
    Awesomeness.

I wonder why he doesn't do conventions like Melandy Britt and Alan Oppenheimer. He would make so much money.

We've asked him to Power-Con each year, unfortunately Mr. Erwin declines. While he does appreciate the fan interest, I do not foresee him ever doing a convention.

And, yup, that is him in the opening scene. He did several episodes of Rawhide I believe.

I recently got a chance to see another great voice actor from the day..
..and no one was visiting his booth, and he didn't seem down about it at all.

Greg Burger, voice of Dinobot Grimlock, ..(I wanted to hear him say 'ME GRIMLOCK, KING!')
    ..but I didn't ask.
Instead I talked to him a bit about people, and how some are nice and some are rich a-holes.
    He agreed.

I tried not to talk about my Transformers storyboards...
..although if I was in a production I would totally test him for voices in a second.

John Erwin can do anything he wants, and hopefully enjoys doing, but he should not feel scared to go to conventions or look for work in Hollywood.
    Cheers to the greats!

    Damn. That sucks

Is there a reason he doesn't want to do them?

    Two reasons:

    1.) He is very shy.
2.) Because he doesn't look like He-Man, he doesn't want to somehow undermine the image of He-Man. I know fans wouldn't care one bit, but this is something he feels strongly about.

While I disagree with his reasoning it is good to know why somebody who would be a perfect convention guest does not want to do them.

Alan Oppenheimer sure as hell doesn't look like Skeletor, yet I will be happy to get a photo op with him in november. And besides, people can just google John Erwin and see his photo. It's not that hard.

I always wanted to meet John Erwin. It's a shame he feels that way cuz i'm sure a lot of fans would love to meet him. I made it to power-con in 2012 and met many great people.

Totally agree! Have been extremely fortunate and grateful ~ made it to SDCC in 2012 and met the late Lou Scheimer. Made it to Power-Con in 2013 and met Alan Oppenheimer. The dream now is Melendy Britt and John Erwin.

Got Alan Oppenheimer at Rhode Island Comic Con. Got a photo with him and had him sign the MOTUC Skeletor and MOTUC Man-At-Arms. Strangely enough it's like he didn't remember voicing Man-At-Arms. He goes "who is that" I go "Man-At-Arms, you did voice him, right" then after thinking about it he said he did. How can you forget voicing one of the most major characters after He-Man and Skeletor?

Would love a chance to meet John and autograph one of those awesome art posters they give out at Power Con. If by chance both John and Melendy do appear at a Power Con, I would get a Power Pass in a heartbeat and make time to attend. It was nice seeing Alan at Power Con 2013 and since the line was kind of lengthy, I only had time to ask him about voicing Falcor in the Neverending Story.

I understand Erwin's reasoning to a point, I like the idea of keeping the 'magic' alive in thinking of that voice with He-Man as we know it, but Peter Cullen/Frank Welker/Alan Oppenheimer sure embrace the fans, would like to see Erwin out there as well.

I would like to mention that as I have been watching through all episodes of RawHide, I am stirred to unethical dismay, as per the incidental actions of a certain 'Teddy' picked up on the drover's trail, at some unknown time by which hands are taken in to help with the cattle...

..and so I am compiling a list of these as I watch.
(its not complete as I have not seen all of the show yet, but be prepared for a shock)

Ok, so this cow drover gets picked up along the Texas trail, and although others seem to be easily known by two names, he is only ever referred to as 'Teddy', and I am sure any cowboy can help move the beeves reasonably well, and todays world could definitely use a respect based order as can be seen in RawHide, but if He-Man is clearly designed as a all-encompassing hero, then one may want to look at the character history that drives the growth of heroism in TV, however, I question the likelihood of an unwavering perfect hero, and certainly not easily found in post civil war western American settler-venture-ship off the common roads with 3000 head of cattle trying to avoid local troubles. Regardless, I have made a list of incidental actions of this particular drover through the 2nd, 3rd and 4th season of the show.

s2 ep 10 - is found lazy smoking away from the heard,
    - deserts the drive with headhunter gang,
    - shoots a man in the back
    s2 ep 11 - talks about his 'uncle's suicide
s2 ep 18 - shot at by young girl over superstitious demon horse
    s2 ep 27 - is called a Jasper by Rowdy(Clint Eastwood)Yates,
    - refusing to help small pox contaminated village
    s2 ep 28 - wants a hanging of un-convicted man
s3 ep 02 - questions mystic Aztec demi-goddess who is likely a casino prostitute
s3 ep 03 - pistol whips a man from behind
s3 ep 04 - shoots at indians who've had their horses stolen
s3 ep 05 - takes gun away from wife whose husband is wrongfully prisoned (by Peter Lore)
s3 ep 06 - holds raw eggs in the sun while cook is out
s3 ep 07 - knife fights indian medicine man,
    - digging 'mass graves',
    - dissention, punches trail boss Gil Favor,
    - opening an underground waterspring by headbutting the dirt (?)
s3 ep 13 - encourages drunken disorderly on pay day
s3 ep 14 - holds old cook at razor point and punches cooks hand,
    - starts bar brawl, replaces bartender with drunk,
    - joins armed mob in cow market town
s3 ep 17 - circles in a fight with branding iron,
    - encourages moving cows through quicksand,
    - starts fist fight with Rowdy(Clint Eastwood)Yates
s3 ep 18 - holds up a deputy sheriff at gun point
    s3 ep 20 - can not throw a boomerang 5 ft (?)
s3 ep 23 - fails to recognize threat of whole drive thievery or jaye hawking
s4 ep 01 - is not counted as 'both' out of 3 drovers by trail boss,
    - rustling a fight with Rowdy's pa in a bar
s4 ep 05 - his singing starts an indian attack on the drovers (?)
s4 ep 29 - suggests that another herd with murdered boss be abandoned,
    - roles eyes at local sheriff,
    - pours Rowdy(Clint Eastwood)Yate's coffee bribing-ly,
    - called empty headed by drive cook,
    -encouraging a stampede,
-picks fight with Gil Favor and leads all drovers to quit,
-drinks last dollar on beer with quit drovers in market town
s4 ep 30 - riding pistols high-blazing in market town,
-gangs up on sick man in fancy hotel causing mass quarantine of small pox

    ..
I am not so much worried about the results of all this, as to why Mr. Favor is still paying Teddy.

    Awesomeness, still the best Hulk.

Also Lou Ferrigno and I do not share muscular distinction however we have a very similar ear problem.

I noticed that and that's one of my favorite episodes, she also voiced the chief and Penny in Plastic-Man as well did you know that?
