    NECA Predators Series 10

NECA has essentially made a "Predators Classic" wave of their toy line - Series 10 is made up of three tributes to the '90s Kenner toys! I've been geeking out about these all year, but nwo I've finally got them.

And thus... I SHALL REVIEW THEM ALL! The first review is up today, and expect the other two next week:

Nightstorm is the first NECA Predator with a removable mask, so I honestly see him as the bonus and the other two as the standard.

The original lava Predator was one of my favourite toys growing up. Good days. This version looks phenomenal.

Found the Kenner Tribe yesterday at a specialty store. I have to say these are some of the best looking predators in a while. They look amazing due to the colors and unique designs. Not sure who my favorite is. Love all of them for different reasons.

Pretty cool idea of making Nightstorm an Egyptian themed predator. I was surprised how much I liked him considering he's the super predator buck, but the paint and detail on his new gear and mask are pretty awesome.

Lava Planet I just love the translucent red, but the bio mask is actually one of the best ones ever. It's pretty detailed and unique.

    Big Red and Bigger Red

Hive Wars is also stunning. The blues, the green eyes, and all the new armors once again deliver something that feels almost completely new yet familiar to the predator collection.

I like to call him Big Blue.

Decided to go to TRU today and lucked out - they had one of each of these left. Was originally going to buy only Hive Wars, but the various pictures on the Internets sold me on Nightstorm. Lava turned out to be much cooler in person, so I grabbed him too.
Classics TGR figures should be Filmation-based, but they NEED MORE COWBELL!

As someone who really liked the old Aliens/Predator line from Kenner, I pre-ordered these when they first came up. I've skipped most of the Predator line aside from adding Arnie to some older NECA figures, but these I couldn't skip. THey did a very good job of capturing the spirit of the originals while updating them to the modern toy standards of detail and articulation (though the originals were cutting edge on that first count for their time). NECA has made a quantum leap recently as far as articulation goes; we've gone from statues with a few points of movement to something that stands toe to toe with things like Marvel Legends in both the Aliens and Predator lines without sacrificing the sculpt quality a bit. I'm very impressed by all three of these in particular, and by the direction NECA is moving in in general.

Nightstorm will be on Friday. My next three posts after that will be Dactus, Mantenna, and Standor, respectively.

    Awesome reviews, Dan!

My Nightstorm review tomorrow... has thirty pictures. I think I went a little overboard.

And yet I have no Photoshop!

Here's an article I wrote last February on the matter - I should probably redo it with newer/better pictures sometime in the future, as a lot of the photos now seem amateurish: http://nerditis.com/2013/02/22/life-...ing-any-money/

Following the events of Predator, Dutch is mysteriously abducted and sent to the Lava Planet where he runs into a familiar creature...
