    Custom MOTUC: FILMATION TEELA

Well with it being; out of nowhere Valentines day; I decided to post a little love your you guys an show off my custom MOTUC Filmation Teela.

This has been a figure I have wanted in my collection for a very long time, an I decided I would sit down an make one no matter how long it took. ...I am just kinda surprised it only took 3 days to bang this one out.

I am excessively pleased with how she turned out. This was also my very first time making a head myself with only a face to start with from the ground up.
I hope you all enjoy the figure.

If the forum thumbnail isnt working, just right click the picture an open in a new tab to see fullsized pics.

This is a figure I have personally wanted for a VERY long time in my classics collection, so not even a remote chance I would sell her.

Nope, you will have to pester Toy Guru for an offical MOTUC Filmation Teela figure, or try to hit up a community customizer an try to get one made.

    Sorry bud.

Thanks guys, I was really worried about how the proportions of the head would turn out with it being my first time making a head nearly from scratch like this.

Thanks, it was a lil hard to get the paint to be that vibrant. I ended up using a mixture of 4 different reds, 2 white types of paints, and a new type of acrylic kind I had never used or seen before called Neon paints. They are a little oily/runny but they are SO beautiful an have such a bite color, an they worked very well on a filmation character like this when mixed into my usual paint colors.

I think it turned out pretty well for my first time using those untested neon paints.

Great work Rep. She looks amazing!
Out of the night that covers me,
Black as the pit from pole to pole,
I thank whatever gods may be
    For my unconquerable soul.

It matters not how strait the gate,
How charged with punishments the scroll,
I am the master of my fate,
I am the captain of my soul.

Thanks, Iam really glad that everyone approves of how that she turned out. I was really worried about how close I could get the head to look like how Teela looked in the Filmation cartoon.

Well, if that means that all custom Teela figures released from now will have to be as good as this or better; then that can only be a good thing.
As that only means that I managed to help improve the level of quality that all released custom MOTUC Teela figures that the customizing community sells and in turn will improve all of our personal collections somewhat for those who want to buy them.

Can I ask you to explain the work to obtain Your Teela Filmation head?

    Thank you.

Well, I started with a Temple of Darkness sorceress head. I then removed the had from the TOD Hood, and added on a layer of sculpting compound an sculpted a complete bald female head and set that compound and sanded it to smooth it nicely to have a good base to work on.
After that I then sculpted on the back and sides of the hair separately, adding in some detail. I was looking at an working off of some random Filmation shots of the front, sides, angles shots, an back shot angles of Teelas head then the set those parts individually, adding hair detail whenever possible. I then did the same for the tuft of hair on top, then the tiara, an then the bangs in that order.

Then added paint apps using a mix of different paints.

    Pretty much it.

Well I want to, but I still have to do more research of the types of casting methods, needed for best possible casting, finding the best casted item materials, an the best casting mold materials before I can get into this heavy and try to cast an sell it. I don't wanna just jump into it, an put out something rough, I wanna make sure ppl wanting one of hte heads can get somethin worth having.

But, don't worry bud, I plan to make an entire new thread on the forums here and a post on my customs facebook page when I am ready to selling a few castings.

I'm no fan of Filmation styling but you knocked this out of the park. She looks great. Nice job!
