What are your thoughts on Mattel announcing that MOTU Classics will end next year?

Mattel today announced that "2015 will definitely be the end of green brick carded figures called Masters of the Universe Classics." Knowing what we know about who is coming and who is not, how do you feel about this announcement? We just had a couple of months of polls weeding out hundreds of characters for who we'd like to see in 2016. I know there are still dozens of figures I still want. How about you?

I'm really disappointed that we were told there would only be two NA figures next year and now that is also the last year. So the Galactic Guardians and Mutants will never have full team rosters. I was hoping for at least another two NA in 2016.
Three figures wasted on the Farting Foe Men no one ever asked for yet NA has had the shaft since the beginning.

Well I am saddened, I hoped MOTUC would go on for some time.but if they keep selling subscriptions, how can 2016 be the last?

I`m okay with that. I didn`t expect 2016 to happen as a full 12 month-sub anyway, so it`s no surprise.

I want this line to go on forever.

Of course that's not happening. Every year is a struggle, so I'm hoping that we'll at least get the 2015 sub to complete all the vintage and other A-Listers.

After that, well, everythings gravy - and yes, please give me more figures. Don't care what they are called or how they are packaged (I'll rip them open anyway). As long as the figures look the same and fit into the Classics collection, I'm in for whatever comes in 2016 and beyond.

To be honest i want it to continue, but to me personally classics is done. Just want the laser figures and blast attak right now.

PS: Would also subscribe to a mini NA sub

That's not true. Lots of us asked for the model kit drivers and I for one don't think it was a waste. I'll take them over the likes of Kayo ANY day. I love them.

There are a lot of figures I would still buy though. It is a shame after all that polling to find out it didn't matter in the slightest as Mattel is done.

I'd love this to go on for many more years. That said, I won't mind if the line as it is known gives way to something else as DCUC did for their current rendition. A smaller sub ( maybe. 6-8 figures a year, a couple of beasts, and a larger item/ multipack/something) would be cool. Maybe call it something else like Powers of Grayskull, and new, different packaging.
Not to sound like a creepy cheerleader for Uki, but it's nice to know there is at least one person on this forum who is extremely positive & friendly all the time. I don't think I could be that nice even if you paid me. If we ever give out awards for "forum member of the month", Uki gets my vote. -Mr. Shokoti

I think they could extend it for YEARS if they introduced vehicles, dioramas, and some reissues.

I voted for several more years worth of figures!

However...The announced end of the MOTUC packaging is ok with me. For years, we knew that the end of the vintage figures was coming so it's not surprising to me for Mattel to hype up the "Last of the Mohicans". Very few toy lines get to have such a send off and I feel it's nice that MOTUC gets a dedicated closure. Voltron and Ghostbusters didn't get that and DC kinda got it in an anti-climactic fashion.

If any new figures in 2016 and beyond still use the standard MOTUC buck, with 4H sculpts, and gives us new Filmation, NA, POP, POG, SoHM, 200X, and Mini-Comics characters, while revisiting some much-needed 2.0's like Teela, Sorceress, Fisto, Roboto, etc...Then I don't care what the packaging looks like or what the series is called.

It's like the WWE Legends/Entrance Greats/Defining Moments/Flashbacks; I'm happy to get old-school wrestlers any way I can get them!

So I'll just give MOTUC a standing ovation after the last figure and look forward to the Signature series...Or MOTU Unlimited...Or Reloaded or whatever they want to call it, heheh!

In an ideal world, I'd like the line to continue forever, but I think it's probably time I started saving for things like a car and a house and I dunno, maybe buy some furniture...

Yeah, I'd be very depressed if I didn't have these toys.

This is exactly how I feel.

In the meantime, we still have a year and a half left. A lot can happen in a year and a half. That's also a lot of time for US as a community to discuss how we can ensure that MOTU continues to live beyond Classics (I don't mean just action figure lines). This is a big community with a lot of creative people.

If my top figure I want (MYP Evilseed) makes it into 2015, I will be okay with the line ending.

After the fan vote here on the Org, I was looking forward to 2016 and or a 200x/MYP add on sub.

So I am kinda in a weird place of acceptance, but concerned.

I wouldn't mind a 2016 year line. It would mean a better chance of getting some more figures I'd purchase.

I Voted I want it to go on for years.

I want at least the designs of this line (bucks, art direction, bios) to continue even if it was in "new" directions (especially actually, certainly at this point or in 2016) like Powers of Grayskull or specifically Son of He Man.

I want the MOTUC property, or figures that are clearly the same style no matter the way it's released. Even something like a "MOTU Black Label", one or two new MOTUC Style figures in new packaging under a new header. Heck, a single figure a year at sdcc. Keep it alive.

Keep it alive, let it evolve. But still a unified line. Sorta how the Batman the Animated Series kept evolving and getting editions until they were basically just releasing anyone they could in that style though it had long since escaped any real connection to the original toyline or the toon that inspired it. The line design aesthetic was just too good to let die.

MOTUC should go this route. Powers of Grayskull. Characters & Figures from the pre-history of Eternia. From Grayskull to Oo-Lar. Son of He Man. The future of the MOTU Property. Dare & Skeleteen in the future of Eternia. Could even introduce characters we want from various eras as new and more important protagonists. Whatever.

I could imagine on. Even if the way we got these characters and toys changes into something else, keep these toys comming. These particular design aesthetic. So that there is new MOtU that fits with MOTUC. Extention, evolution, whatever.

I want New Adventures complete including the 2 variants; Battle Blade Skeletor and Disks of Doom Skeletor. It needs to be finished just like vintage MOTU!!!
Also all the major Jetlag characters from NA and more Filmation characters from MOTU & POP and a few 200X from MYP. I love the concept characters as well. Son of He-Man and the new DC Comics characters are not for me, but I'll take them to complete what I want to support it all anyway
Therefore I really want to see a re-branding which will have all these characters in it in the exact same MOTUC style and scale.
MY MOTUC WANTS: Gwildor, Rotar, Mermista, Angella, Peekablue, Spinerella, Perfuma, Master Sebrian, Sagitar, Tuskador, Darius, Kayo, Vizar, Nocturna, Spinwit, Artilla, Saurod, Ninjor, Evil Seed, Lord Masque, Twistoid, Hunga the Harpy, Dragstor, Vultak, Multi-Bot, Blast-Attak, Tung Lashor, Sssqueeeze, Lizorr, Hoove, Critta, Quakke, Butthead, Staghorn
