    Snake Mountain box variation

    Howdie!

I was looking at the toy section here at Snake Mountain. I have 2 of them, but the boxes on them aren't exactly the same. One has the "I am the voice of Snake mountain" and the other one says "I am the spirit of snake mountain". Also, the Starburst is different. One says you can change your voice to that of snake mountain and the other says you can change your voice to a Voice of Evil.

    This a known variation?

Its hard to imagine any completionist collecting more then one Snake Mountain or Castle Greyskull but then again I probably would not be surprised .

Interesting, I have never noticed it before.
The "Spirit" version looks to be rarer than the "Voice" one when I am trying some searches.
Here is a picture with the "Voice" version to help to compare:

I have both versions that you pictured there. I can get you pics of the back of the box for the Grayskull Museum if you'd like. I just wonder if using the words "Spirits" and turNing your child's voice to evil was too much for Parents to handle lol

Thx D-compose, after some searchs I have seen that the back of the boxes is the same one between the two versions, have you one different than on this picture?:

An other example about a boxe with words changing on its reissue is the He-Man/Wind Raider Gift Set.
On the 8_back version you can read about He-Man: "Strongest Man in the universe" and on the 12_back reissue: "Most Powerful Man in the Universe"

Box back is the same. The sides are different because of the Starburst.

I would say that the "Spirit Of Snake Mountain" version may be the 1st version because it is this line which is in the 1984 Mattel catalogue : http://www.orangeslime.com/?p=412 . But as strange as it seems, it was also used in the 1985 Mattel Catalogue http://www.orangeslime.com/?p=1319 and the 1986 catalogue http://www.orangeslime.com/?p=2629 but there, they are not talking about "the voice of evil". In the 1987 catalogue , Snake Mountain is not featured

There's a thread on that in the Tar Swamp, and that's where discussion about it should stay because of the religious nature of it.
