Some of my vintage style custom figures

It has been a while since I posted some of my Custom figures on here so I thought I would start this thread to share some of the latest figures I have been working on & hopefully you will see some you like

I will start off with this one which is one of my most recent figures

    Quartzita custom figure photo quartzita.jpg

This is figure I have just finished work on which is made to fit in with the vintage He-Man action figures.
She is loosely based on the female rock person from the He-Man mini comic titled ‘Escape From the Slime Pit’. You can see a picture of here here…http://www.bustatoons.com/blog_image...ock_people.jpg
To make her I used a vintage Rokkon figure as a base.
Her face was taken from a vintage Teela figure
& her chest section was taken from a vintage Catra figure.
I started off by taking the Rokkon figure apart. Next I sliced off his face with a sharp craft knife & sanded down his chest area.
I then sliced the face off the Teela figure & attached it to the face area of the Rokkon figure & did the same with the chest section from the Catra figure.
Next I sculpted her a helmet & blended in around the chest section using a product called ‘Fixit Sculpt’. I also attached 2 little pearl jewels to her body for extra detailing.
Once the Fixit had set I painted the entire figure using Humbrol enamel paints.
When the paint had dried I assembled the figures head arms & legs back onto her body & folded her up into her rock form. At this point I used gold spray paint & fine gold glitter to add the details to her back (top of the rock).
Next I added a little orange jewel to her chest section.
To finish her off I got Rokkons weapon & painted it orange & gold to fit in with her colour scheme.
She was never given a name in the mini comic so I decided to call her Quartzita. This is based on the pink rock called ‘Pink Quartzite’.

     photo Dree Elle.jpg

This is a custom I made of Dree Elle to tie in with the female characters from the vintage She-Ra Princess of Power figure line from the 80’s.
To Make Her I used a classic Orko figure as a base.
I removed Orko’s hat & sculpted over the ‘O’ on his chest using fixit sculpt. Next I placed a little pink craft gem to replace the ‘O’. In the cartoon she does not have anything on her chest but I thought this would help tie her in with the POP figures.
Once the sculpt had set I then painted her body using Humbrol enamel paints.
For her face I got an old Barbie doll & cut out her eyes & attached them over Orko’s eyes. I then sculpted around them to make them blend into Dree Elle’s face.
I then got an old Shelly doll (similar t this) http://images.bidorbuy.co.za/user_im...6__DSC0687.JPG
& cut her head in half . I took the back section of her head & hair & attached it to the back of Orko’s head.
I then made her veil using pink fabric from an old Barbie dress. Again I used fabric for this instead of sculpting as I thought it would help give her a better POP look.
Finally I made her hat. To do this I covered the figure in shrink wrap & sculpted her hat onto her head using Fixit sculpt. Once it had set I took the hat off & painted it.
Dree Elle even has Orko’s spinning action feature which you can see in the video if you check out this link https://www.facebook.com/pg/GaryAnde...=page_internal

     photo dylamug.jpg

Seeing as the vintage He-Man & She-Ra figures are not completely cartoon accurate I wanted to make my Dyalamug figure in a similar style. This way he would fit in better with the look of the other vintage figures. To do this I tried to use as many parts from other vintage MOTU figures as possible.

His arms are from 2 vintage trap jaw figures which I repainted & attached some thin black wire to.

The dark blue piece above his face (which the arms are connected to) are from a vintage Multibot figure. As are his legs, & lower body. Some of these pieces were cut to fit. I also had to cut the arm sockets off the trap jaw figures & attach them to the upper torso of the Multibot figure so as his arms could be articulated.

The main part of his body is a Fisherprice block which you can see here https://images-na.ssl-images-amazon....10SB200F9L.jpg

The oval part his face is attached to was cut from the lid of an aerosol can.

I drew his face using a digital art program then printed it onto self adhesive photographic paper & then stuck a layer of matt sticky back plastic film on top of that to prevent it from getting scratched.
I decided to make his face more orange than the actual cartoon character so as the figure would fit in more with the colour pallets of the vintage Modulok & Dragstor figures who both had this shade of orange in their designs. I also painted the part behind the horde logo dark blue for this same reason.

The horde logo above his face was sculpted using a product called ‘fixit sculpt’.

The back piece behind the horde logo was made up from 2 (2X8) lego blocks & the lights on his head were made from little clear Lego round pieces to which I painted the base of each one gold.

The entire figure was painted using Humbrol enamel paints.

His points of articulation are his arms, legs & waist (below his face).

     photo sea hawk.jpg

To make my vintage style Sea Hawk I used the head & part of the tunic from the MOTUC sea hawk & attached them to a vintage He-Man figures body. I sculpted in the side parts of the tunic which I had cut off & also sculpted him a neck so his head could be fitted correctly to his new body. The black torn sleeves & one of his gloves were also sculpted. I then painted his new body to match the MOTUC figure. He also has He-Man's power punch action.

     photo two-bad.jpg

For this Two-Bad figure, I was asked to adjust his arms so as they came out of the sides of his torso instead of the top.
