I get the criticism of the Eldor mould, since they couldn't get their hands on a real one and had to make it from scratch. However isn't the He-ro figure made from the original vintage mould/prototype? Therefore I would assume that the final figure would look as close as possible to how the figure would have looked if it had come out in 1988-89.

The S7 He-ro Figure looks fine to me. If the head was indeed made using a vintage mould or test shot figure (which I assume would've made a cast of or 3D scanned) then maybe the reason the hair looks too detailed is (as Carlo noted) is because the amount/thickness of the paint used for the original 1988 prototype (that's my theory anyway).

The only thing I'm puzzled by is the fact that it looks like there are TWO different He-ro torsos used in the S7 power-con display. It looks like two different moulds/sculpts were used (one has a flat logo while the other is sculpted).

Of course this is just nitpickyness on my part and I'm just so excited to see these figures finally get made.

I transcribed what was said on that topic.

BRIAN FLYNN: "Originally we were gonna be selling the first wave of figures in December of this year, but there's been a whole host of interesting developments. So, those figures may actually get delayed for awhile, because of other opportunities that might come in...which is very vauge..I know everybody goes "I don't know what that means!" But we had planned on selling those 5 1/2" figures this December before Christmas. They're probably going to be..even though the figures are ready almost..and they'll be done...they probably won't be on sale 'til later, so that they tie into something else. And it's not some weird reboot or whatever. It's not that!"

NERDS ON A COUCH: "It's a movie. He's announcing the movie!"

BRIAN FLYNN: "No, it has nothing to do with any of that. But there's another..there's another opportunity that's popped up, that if we can synch in with that, Mattel would rather do that than have them come out at that time. So, they may just come out at another date. But they will be coming out soon."
Great.... so we have to wait for these awesome figures so that Mattel can promote their 35th Anniversary MotU DVD box-set??? Ugh!

...Didn't the original scupltor bring the Eldor prototype to Power-Con couple years back? And there are clear images of it as well...

Plus we even have seen Eldor's proof cardback surface in past...

Where did this info come from? As I said, we've seen Eldor stuff pop up - but He-Ro's the one that's always been very sought after.

Did some collectors help out Super7 with getting He-Ro prototype?

I think it was said that the owner of the Eldor prototype doesn't want to share it with Super7.

More than likely I'm thinking it's Netflix's "Toys that Made Us" series... some friends of mind are estimating that vintage motu is going to see a price spike, soon

He-Ro's hair is also more detailed in this version, but again I'm not bothered. I think the "spirit" of the originals comes through.
I agree. From original sculpt to casting copies to painting to cutting molds at a factory, it's nearly impossible to get a true replica anyway without the original molds. These look to be prototypes so I'm sure the production figures will look different as well.

    Happy with everything else though.
Yeah I'm excited about these new POG figures, but I really hope they take a second pass at He-Ro's face sculpt. It looks off from the original prototype image we've seen for years.

    He-ro_proto_full -.jpg

IMHO a new sculpt that's a little more heroic and a little less manic would make this figure perfect.

I think even just relaxing the eyebrows a bit could improve He-Ro

Here's hoping the boots get vac-metalled too and that they put the hologram in Eldor's book

Great to see some progress on these but yeah the faces need reworking to be closer to the original prototypes.

true.. he was asking for a lot of money for the eldor mold from what i heard either way.. eldor is not such a big issue for me.

HE-RO's hair / face and staff needs to be re-worked.

also heard both figures are planned to be boxed on their 80's POG cards. it would be ridiculous to have them on regular masters cards

Maybe I missed it, but what's with the gold vac-metal second torso?

From what I understand they included that to show that the final toy will have the vac metal torso.

Im a big POG fan. Im glad to finally get these figures, but:

    - He-ro´s face is a bit off and the staff overdetailed. Cape´s neck just look weird.

Super7 have a problem with proportions. 3 Terrors heads were too oversized, same with Eldor.

    - Eldor´s proto have large sleeves, in the new figure are lost.

Some notes maybe found along them? Or like artwork that depicts these next to He-Ro, Eldor or similar?
(I mean, the whole "Strobo wave" has caused lot of discussions already, with some putting them into POG and some seeing it as modern wave)

Gray can be seen in Eldor's cardback illustration.

I've just watched the video of the PowerCon 2017 Super7 panel and they mention these concept figures in the panel as well.
