Saving MOTU! *Every Fan Needs to Read*

    My fellow fans and collectors:

This thread is a collaborative effort to do our part to save the Masters of the Universe toy line.
This is an extensive of the love of many for Masters of the Universe.
This is an expression of our desire to keep something we've wanted for almost two decades alive for years to come.

This is not a thread for arguing.
If you believe the line will debut with new material this spring, or something new will be at Toy Fair, or new cartoon eps are coming, etc. That's fine. I respect that, and you have every right to stand by that. I'm not here to say you are wrong, or to exert my stance over yours. That is not what this is about.

Despite what we've been told, we all have to realize that this line is in trouble. Please don't turn a blind eye to the obvious.

    • Multiple reports of major retailers dropping MOTU.
    • Clearancing of existing MOTU, with no product replacing it.
    • No reports or advertising for any new cartoon episodes.
    • No weekday syndication of the cartoon (it's only once a day in a less than favorable time slot on Saturday).
    • No current major advertising.
    • No major licensees (there's not much out there in terms of He-Man related stuff, especially when compared to other toys)

The good thing is, MOTU is huge with collectors and fans.
Even non traditional MOTU fans love this new toy line.
Toy Fare has given the MOTU line numerous awards, including their latest Best Exclusive.
And the fans voted MOTU the best toy line of the year on ToyFare's site.
Not to mention MOTU is always placing multiple characters in ToyFare's Top 10 most wanted figures.

Fans and collectors alike scramble to find these toys (which we shouldn't have to do).
It looks like the Snake Men wave and the vehicles may be all sold out at Mattel (I emphasize may. Don't go frantic-collector-mode on me).

This shows that even if children didn't take to Masters, we as fans and collectors can certainly keep this line alive.
Reports of the toy line internationally seem to be good, which is a great sign for us!
But it will be bad news if the hardcore US fan base has to import them (no disrespect meant to international fans who've had to suffer with the same thing).

    ---------------------
    What we need to do:

Having our voice be heard requires the following:

    • A Petition. It has to be online, allow unique users only (made up votes won't help us!), and free to any member of the public.
    • Power of the Press. We must nominate forum members (and only those members) for contacting news agencies with formal letters and phone calls, agreed upon by fan base, about what we're doing and what we are trying to achieve. We must agree on press agencies to contact. My suggestions: All major ones we can reach. Leave no stone unturned.
    • Calling Mattel. We have to organize another Call Mattel Day. But this time, we need a way to motivate everyone to call.
    • E-mail Mattel. It's fast, it's free, it's easy, and a good way to get those people in gear who may not want to call.

I know MOTUFan will help organize a lot of this.
Once we get our plan of action ironed out, then we'll post it on the main page and move forward with everything else.
And I know some of you have started petitions and movements, so we need to organize that all here.
I don't want anyone to feel like the efforts you've put forth will be tossed to the side in favor of the above.
Some of it has to be tweaked and redone of necessity. But we'll certainly try to unify everything that's already been put into motion if we can only for the greater good!

    This is no joke everyone.
We are potentially watching our dream come to an end.
I've never lied to you all. You are my friends and family and I know you all love this toy line just as much as I do, or you wouldn't be here.

Do you really want to risk losing it, despite what you may have heard?
I do not! And I won't sit by and wait to find out that the toy line I love is gone!

The time to act is now.
    Let's get this started...
"See this? This... is my BAN stick! It's an infraction giving, no mercy showing warhorse. He-Man.org's top of the line. You can find this in any section of the forums. That's right, this sweet baby was made in MOTU cyberspace. Retails for about the price of your backside. It's got a pull down menu selection, infinite amount of suspension power, and a hair trigger. That's right... follow the rules. ALL the rules... You got that?"

My friends wife suffered a spinal stroke in November, she remains completely paralyzed from the neck down and her insurance company recently decided to drop her as she wasnt "progressing fast enough" for them. We dont want to give up on her, we believe she can recover but the rehab she is at is pricy. Find out how you can help at:

I'm In. We should post in other collectors forums and on personal web sites as well about this plan when it has been decided. Let's make some noise.

If pics of kids enjoying the line and meeting He-Man would be any help, our youngest board members Skeletot and Princess Teeny's mom has given permission to use the pics
What next? It seems every month lately there is something..

I'm up for that and it's nice to know someone who's got a good idea how the whole system operates is in the driving seat. Much respect for coming out and saying this, Val. Some times I forget that you're not just the official face, (or eye), of the forum, you're also a bone deep MOTU fanatic too.

    I began a petition at http://www.petitiononline.com/motu/petition.html

How will I need to rework this in order to help it meet the goals you've expressed?

    Thanks,

...Naturally, I'd love to help. I still am optomistic about its future, but I'd rather not take chances, if action on our part makes a difference between this line slipping into limbo and living on! Especially since I have two sons who really enjoy it as much as I do! Let me know how to help...

My wallet hates you Mr. Staples!

Is there anything the clubs can do? I know for a fact that the Colorado Council of Evil will help in anyway possible!
