    I would like to hear it in better quality and guitars too. I think I'll be doing a version like that too, but if I understood correctly, the game will have MIDIs in it.

    granbeetle - yes, I listen and write partitures. I don't have a program that would notate these songs.

    Demo released!

    Ladies and gentlemen, the demo has arrived!

    MOTU RPG Demo 6.5 MB. Use this if you already have RPG Maker 2003. Unzip the file into the projects folder under the RPG Maker folder. Make sure your ZIP-program maintains the directory structure of the archive.

    MOTU RPG Demo w. RTP 20.1 MB. Use this if you don't have RPG Maker 2003 installed. Unzip the file anywhere and run Setup.exe.

    Post in this thread if you have problems, as the solution might be useful for other posters too.

    If you have problems with the font being displayed strangely. Download this and unzip to your windows\fonts directory.

    And just as a disclaimer, Myko mentioned this earlier.

    Here are some things that still need work:

    weapon alignment
    goddess map sprite
    purple monster sprite
    teela battle sprite
    greyskull battle bg doesn't work in encounters
    greyskull tileset

    All of these will be important to the final game as well, so if we could get some folks to help, especially on the art, it would greatly be appreciated.

    I decided to post an update in here. I'm about to start working on the classic theme, but just so that you know I haven't been slacking off, here's what I have done so far. They're both still unfinished and from the 2002 series, but here you go anyways.

    The new one is from the preview commercial. It's the happiest memory I have from the new line, so I wanted to make a MIDI out of it.

    And again, you have to re-name these files as *.mid

    Kai, you're really churning them out. Excellent work, both are very much like their respective originals. One thing to possibly keep in mind is that all themes will be repeating so long as the player is on a particular screen, so the music's format has to be such that there won't be an strange transition or clipping when the game goes from the end to the beginning of the song. But once again Kai, great work.

    Oh and has anyone thought about what to do in regards to in game sound effects? I can't wait to see the finished ram man and teela battle sprites.

    Wow. Just wow.

    Sterling work guys. Obviously, its just a demo, but it flowed along really well, and the storytelling worked brilliantly. I like the mix of old and new - brings a sense of unity to the different eras of MoTU. The only gripe I have is with the spelling and grammar in some places: 'truly' spelt 'truelly', for instance. In an RPG that relies heavily on text to tell the story, such things are paramount. Other than that, you lot can give yourselves a hefty pat on the back, cos you more than deserve it.

    Here is an animated griffin sprite that we'll be using on the first level of the final game. I really hope fans will like the direction we've decided to take MOTU. It is definitely darker in tone, but will retain many of the essential elements that fans expect.

    *Here's some more early character sprites of a few inhabitants of he-man's village-Animal Tamer, Ceril, He-man's village girlfriend(no name yet!), a royal scout, and finally our favorite dragon(he'll be in the game much later)

    Hi,
    it's been a while since my last visit here.
    I've just try the demo and it is very funny.
    The sprites I made do not seem to fit well on the battle stage. I can reduce them if you wish but I will not animate them.

    An awesome game guys! I really like the story line. It's a lot like the fan fiction that I've been writing lately--old, old school He-Man was always my favorite.

    Innershade, that is EXACTLY the size and style we need for these enemy sprites. The big enemies should be a little bigger and the smaller ones should be about that size. At this point we're still just working on the first level and need a griffin, a large cat(like cringer or panthor only a different color scheme, maybe blue and orange or something) and a list of other badies I'll come up with shortly.     Lee did an outstanding job on character sprites. That having been said, I always thought that beastman would look more menacing with a larger sprite. Here's my attempt at beastman....... who will probably be the boss of level one.

    innershade-could you make a unalope enemy sprite? There's pictures of them on the new cartoon discussion board under the thread quick question. If you make them a little bigger then the beastman sprite you just made, it would be absolutely perfect.
